There's a way of farming and doing power up fusions that's more efficient than just randomly feeding whatever you find. I found the full strategy from the chinese wiki of puzzle and dragons. I used google translate to get a somewhat readable english version:
Pet Feeding Strategy Wiki - Google Translation

I was able to figure out the core of the strategy. Here is the summary in plain and clear English for those who don't want or can't figure it out from the above link.

Farm pets on the following dungeons based on the element type for the main pet you want to level up:
  • Fire Forest Nerva (Fire)
  • Sea Cave Mercury (Water)
  • Sacred Mt. Bakkes (Wood)
  • Twin Temple Apollo (Light)
  • Twin Temple Diana (Dark)
There are 5 types of pets we are interested in:
  1. Level 3 Evolved Carbuncles (1181 xp each for same element)
    • Ruby Carbuncle (Fire)
    • Sapphire Carbuncle (Water)
    • Emerald Carbuncle (Wood)
    • Topaz Carbuncle (Light)
    • Amethyst Carbuncle (Dark)
  2. Level 3 Evolved Goblins (1181 xp each for same element)
    • Samurai Goblin (Fire)
    • Marine Goblin (Water)
    • Hobgoblin (Wood)
  3. Level 8 Fighters (1500 xp each for same element)
    • Flame Fighter (Fire)
    • Aqua Fighter (Water)
    • Earth Fighter (Wood)
  4. Level 8 Basic Ogres (1800 xp each for same element)
    • Red Ogre (Fire)
    • Blue Ogre (Water)
    • Ogre (Wood)
  5. Level 10 Fighters (1875 xp each for same element)
    • White Fighter (Light)
    • Black Fighter (Dark)

Of these 5 types, the first one (Evolved Carbuncle) is considered a feedable pet while the remaining 4 are considered pet food. In other words, we are going to power up fusion (feed) the carbuncles with the other 4 types. Once the carbuncles are at the optimal level, we will feed them to the main pet we are trying to level up.

There are 2 optimization paths, one for leveling low level main pets (levels 1-50) and another for leveling high level main pets (levels 40-99). For both cases, we want to use 5 leveled-up carbuncles every time we feed the main pet to get the most value out of our money. The price for each pet you feed goes up each time you level your main pet, so you want to use all 5 slots to get the current price before it levels up.

Levels 1 - 50 Optimization

You want to use carbuncles between levels 10 and 13. There are different ways you get your Level 3 carbuncles to these levels.
  • Fire, Wood and Water
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle (11)
    • Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre (11)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre (12)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Fighter (12)
  • Light and Dark
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle (11)
    • Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter (11)
    • Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter (13)
Levels 40 - 99 Optimization

You want to use carbuncles between levels 14 and 16. There are different ways you get your Level 3 carbuncles to these levels.
  • Fire, Wood and Water
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre (15)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre + Lvl 8 Basic Ogre (15)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Fighter (14)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Goblin/Carbuncle + Lvl 8 Fighter + Lvl 8 Fighter (14)
  • Light and Dark
    • Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter (16)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter (15)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter (15)
    • Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 3 Evolved Carbuncle + Lvl 10 Fighter + Lvl 10 Fighter (14)

Between levels 40 and 50 you will have to use your own judgement to decide which optimization better suites your needs. The more rare your monster is, the more expensive it is to level up, and the more likely you will want to use the 2nd optimization.
This article is great for people who haven't passed Satan's castle. Once you unlocked technical dungeon, you will forget all about Carbuncles coz' Pendras are just so yummy!
Pendras still give slightly less experience than feeding carbuncles. Pendras only become really useful if you evolve them, but that requires 2 emerald dragons or the equivalent color of metal dragon which aren't commonly available.

The above strategy is usefuly for a steay influx of efficient evolve material when you don't have access to metal dragon dungeons and the like.

Or do you know of a consistent and efficient way to harvest and use pendras as a power up fusion material?

Do you know that an unevolved Pendra at level 10 gives 9000 exp? And it only takes 2600 to get it to level 10. That's way better than Carbuncle.

Also, after Satan's Castle, you can get those 3-star knights monsters. They need the same amount of exp to level up as Carbuncle, but at the same level gives more exp.
thanks for the info. I didn't know that. I'm going to switch strategy now Smile
Thanks for the great info! I have a lot of trouble navigating the wiki even when it's translated.
The thought of doing tech dungeons for it is interesting, but I cant help but wonder which method is more stamina efficient

The above strategy is meant to balance the rate of acquiring money and monsters to feed. In other words, you would never end up with more money than monsters to feed, or more monsters than money to pay for the power fusion.

This is probably best when encountering the x1.5 rate on the listed dungeons to maximize the drops, and whenever you are playing PAD while passing time (e.g. when standing in line somewhere), since the dungeons are trivial to beat and the strategy is simple to follow. It doesn't require concentration to beat the dungeon, and it costs little stamina, which should keep you entertained for much longer than when doing higher level dungeons.
This is a useful post thanks

Question...

Do you mean to fuse 1 Carbuncle with those listed? or is it mix those listed to together?
