Is this because you're skeptical that Monster Hunter Worlds will be a good game? The spouse and I have played *a lot* of MH, and we're also worried that it might end up too dumbed down for the western audience. We'd really like to see MH XX on the Switch in the west, but it seems unlikely now that that will happen. :(

@Hansey Based on current info tweeted, it seems like I have nothing to worry about (still need to see more gameplay though, and I still think the new monster designs are horrible). However, not being able to play locally with my friends, and my fiance, and only being able to play at home when I'm almost never home is really hard for me. But I hope Worlds turns out to be amazing and lots of people buy and enjoy it.

I'd be more surprised if Capcom and Nintendo don't bring Monster Hunter XX to the West. MH World is fine for what it is, but I've always read that MH is, at its core, a multiplayer game built for portable devices.

@Tek7 Considering Sony cockblocked MH World from coming to Switch and is now advertising it as "For the first time in history MH comes to all major consoles" I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom wants to just push World for the West. Releasing XX AND World would cannibalize its own market.

XX is a port anyway. I can't help but strongly suspect that Capcom is already working on developing the next main series MH game for the Switch. Last I read, Nintendo is thrashing Sony and Microsoft in terms of hardware sales in Japan. They'd be fools not to be working on Monster Hunter 5 for the Switch.

@Tek7 Actually XX is an enhanced version of X, brings in all-new monsters plus G-rank and introduces 2 more hunt styles for a total of 6, and gives Prowler Mode all those styles. XX was released for 3DS and will be getting Switch port in Japan in August 25.

Uh oh. I was under the impression that World is a spinoff title. It seems that is not the case: https://twitter.com/dubindoh/status/874527337206792192

So is Capcom purposely trying to sabotage their relationship with Nintendo and throw money away? I can not fathom their business decisions sometimes.

@Tek7 Yes they fully intend for MHW to be "next generational", they said they "liked words instead of numbers" but I think the real reason is to guard against World flopping, then they can release a return-to-form MH5 later and pretend World never happened. There is no reason for Capcom to cut ties with Nintendo when portable gaming is huge in Japan, but I have to wonder
