What happens when you beat the Grafted Scion at the start of Elden Ring? – Nothing. The fact is, the Grafted Scion is not at all a boss. It’s a regular mob enemy in the larger world of Elden Ring. You’ll find more Grafted Scions in your adventure later on, so beating one at the start isn’t really that big of a deal.
Perhaps it can give you a great feeling of satisfaction, but apart from the Greatshield and a paired set of Straight Swords it drops, there’s nothing else to it. It doesn’t change the story, and you’ll still have to die to move on with the story. So, basically, there’s no point in trying to beat the Grafted Scion except for overcoming the game’s first-ever challenge.
As a reward, the game gives you two common pieces of equipment that you’ll eventually find elsewhere in the overworld. : Can you beat Elden Ring’s first boss, Grafted Scion?

Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing Godfrey, First Elden Lord/Hoarah Loux, Warrior Radagon of the Golden Order Elden Beast
Beware that you don’t always get to rest between these fights, so you’ll need to be careful with your Flasks. Godfrey will change into Hoarah Loux in the second phase, while Radagon and the Elden Beast are two full boss fights that are linked together without a break.
After defeating the Elden Beast, rest at the nearby Site of Grace. Finally, you can interact with the Fractured Marika statue and select your ending. Alternatively, those who followed Ranni’s route can opt to use Ranni’s summon sign instead, which will lead to the best ending. Regardless of what you select, this signals the end of Elden Ring, so you can watch the final cutscene play out and take a deep breath.
It’s over. Now, time to start again and get those other endings. That wraps up our Elden Ring walkthrough. - Defeating the boss will get you the Ornamental Straight Sword and Golden Beast Crest Shield.
- The sword is a really unique weapon with a very interesting and fun skill.
- You can return to the boss from the Four Belfries in Liurnia of the Lakes,
- Defeating the boss early on can be advantageous for you because of the high number of souls you will receive and can use to level up your stats.
If you want to start your NG+ run, then you will find the boss easier as now you have access to multiple Flasks and, most probably, a maxed-out weapon, This will allow you to deal massive damage to the boss in NG+ and make the fight go quicker. How long did it take you to beat the first boss Elden Ring?
Here’s an estimate of how long it will take you to beat Elden Ring. FromSoftware’s latest adventure is one of its grandest yet. Elden Ring is an expansive open-world experience that gives players a plethora of things to do. Although it’s easier to sink plenty of hours into the experience, many players will want to know how long it will take for them to complete the game’s main story. It will take you around 40 – 50 hours to beat Elden Ring if you progress through the game at a steady pace. However, this is one of those games where your mileage may vary dramatically. Elden Ring is incredibly open-ended, allowing players to access most of its locations and bosses from a very early point in the game.
You could easily blow past the 50 hour mark without getting anywhere near the final boss. On the other hand, some players have been able to finish the game in just several hours, completely forgoing every optional boss and area of the game. Elden Ring, like most FromSoftware games, has a reputation for being difficult, which will certainly factor into how long it takes you to beat the game.
If you’re a Soulsborne veteran, you’ll probably be able to get through the game’s gauntlet of bosses a bit easier. Newcomers may find a harder learning curve. Elden Ring players are likely in for a 40 – 50 hour commitment if they intend to roll credits on the FromSoftware game, but that number could easily balloon to a much higher amount if they decide to take their time and explore all of the optional content that The Lands Between has to offer. What happens if you skip godrick the grafted?
How to skip the Margit and Godrick boss fights in Elden Ring Provided by FromSoftware Margit is one of the toughest bosses you can face in Elden Ring. So you’re stuck on Margit the Fell, Omen or Godrick the Grafted in ; you’ve been battling either one for hours and just want a break. However, the problem with either of these bosses is that the game makes it seem like you’re region-locked until you beat them.
- The areas of Limgrave are open to exploration even if you haven’t defeated either boss.
- Anything north of Limgrave or Stormhill, though, is seemingly blocked by Stormveil Castle and subsequently Margit and Godrick.
- What if we told you there was a way past these two bosses, though? While Elden Ring does a good job to hide it, you can actually skip Stormveil Castle and the Margit and Godrick fights altogether.
Of course, to beat the game you will still need to come back and fight those bosses. Skipping them just gives you a chance to explore the northern regions, level up your character and acquire new and better gear to come back and have your way with the bosses.

Is Margit too hard for first boss?
Home Video Games Why Margit the Fell Omen is the Perfect First Boss for Elden Ring
Elden Ring’s Margit the Fell Omen is a notoriously difficult early boss. However, the fight better prepares the Tarnished for what’s to come. The 2022 release of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring was one that was highly anticipated by gamers everywhere. In Elden Ring, players must navigate The Lands Between as the Tarnished and defeat a number of Shardbearer bosses to become Elden Lord. It’s no secret that FromSoftware, the same company that produced Dark Souls, is excellent at including bosses that are incredibly difficult to defeat.
When it comes down to it, there is really nothing in Elden Ring that’s easy, and the first boss that players must defeat to progress through the main storyline, Margit the Fell Omen, is no exception. Margit the Fell Omen is first encountered when trying to access Stormveil Castle and is infamous for being an incredibly difficult boss, especially for so early on in the game.
He’s so difficult, in fact, that FromSoftware ended up adding Margit’s Shackle to the game, an object that helps players bind him briefly enough to get a few more hits in without dying. That being said, this difficult fight is actually the perfect start to the game, for it helps players learn several crucial lessons about the structure of Elden Ring ‘s boss fights. For many, encountering Margit the Fell Omen as the first main boss is a wake-up call. Like the other bosses in the game, he is incredibly difficult to defeat. Unlike other games, Elden Ring does not hold back or ease players into the game’s bosses. Margit the Fell Omen is ruthless, and his phase two magic is just as lethal as his phase one melee attacks.
And, to add insult to injury, players must constantly worry about not falling off the edge of the narrow bridge that the battle takes place on, for doing so means certain death and having to start the fight all over again. That being said, Margit the Fell Omen’s attack style has one important thing in common with that of the other bosses in the game: it can be studied and, if studied enough, predicted.
With enough practice (and failed attempts), a pattern to the Elden Ring bosses’ move sets emerges, making it easier to at least get closer to defeating the bosses each try. While it can be frustrating to learn, especially with most bosses gaining new abilities in the second half of their fights, learning early, through Margit the Fell Omen, helps make the process more rewarding. In response to a rant regarding Margit the Fell Omen’s difficulty, Reddit user datenhund said that Margit the Fell Omen teaches players “not to get greedy, not to get too far, heal at the right moments” and even remarks that the infamous boss is “easily the least forgiving first boss of any FROM souls game.” Datenhund makes many valid points.
An issue that some Elden Ring players have when it comes to boss battles is that they overestimate how much time they have to respond between attacks. Especially since heavy hitting bosses can easily stagger players and prevent them from attacking for several crucial seconds, it’s vital that players learn early on how to manage their time and resources.
The way that Margit the Fell Omen helps players learn this timing is one of the few forgiving aspects of his battle. Unlike aggressive hitters like the Red Wolf of Radagon or Malenia, Margit the Fell Omen’s attacks have a slight, yet noticeable, delay to them. The bosses that follow Margit the Fell Omen provide new challenges for the Tarnished, with no two of their battles structured exactly the same way. However, there are players who, after defeating all of them, seek to make the game more difficult, some of them choosing to attempt what are known as “flawless” runs of each boss battle, meaning that they try to defeat the boss without their opponent landing a hit or killing them.
This is incredibly difficult to achieve, and without the lessons learned from Margit the Fell Omen’s boss battle, it’s practically impossible. In the end, there are very few things that Elden Ring players have found disappointing about the game, with most appreciating the intense challenge paired with the incredible graphics, world building, and story.
And while most may view Margit the Fell Omen as an unfair boss to be paired up against right off the bat, there are reasons for the pairing, and it leads to a more experienced, prepared Tarnished going forward.

What is the hardest boss to beat in Elden Ring?
Malenia, Blade Of Miquella – Malenia may not be the gigantic beast that Starscourge Radahn is, but she’s still generally considered to be the hardest boss in Elden Ring, Some compare her to Bloodborne ‘s Orphan of Kos and Dark Souls 3 ‘s Sister Friede, which speaks to just how difficult she can be.
- While her first phase isn’t that bad, her second phase involves fast combos, massive shockwaves, and several copies of herself.
- Malenia can inflict rot, which can chip away at the player’s health.
- Worst of all, she has the ability to leech health from the player with every hit she lands, which means that some spirit ash summons will do more harm than good.

Can you get back to the starting area in Elden Ring?
Back to the beginning. Souls games follow a formula. You always start in a tutorial zone. You always encounter a much tougher boss monster that you’re not ready for. And you always die. That’s just how these games work. Elden Ring works the same way, and just like those games, you can return to the starting area.
- The starting area is called Chapel of Anticipation — and there isn’t a whole lot there.
- Still, this is a worthwhile trip.
- Below we’ll show the exact location of the portal that takes you back, and what weird items you’ll find.
- One of the items is a Key Item.
- That’s got to be important.
