How much does GTA use?
How much data does playing GTA use? – GTA uses around 50 MB of data per hour, which is about average for an online game. The exact amount of data you use playing GTA depends on the number of players in your game mode, your frame rate, whether or not you use voice chat, and the tick rate of your server:
The more players in a game, the more data your internet network has to communicate with other players’ networks to share information like stats and location. If you’re in Free Mode with 31 other people you’ll use much more data (think closer to 100 MB per hour) than if you’re completing a Job with one other player. A higher frame rate refreshes the game more often, which makes it run faster. A lower frame rate saves you data, but makes it harder for you to react quickly in the game. You can adjust your frame rate (measured in FPS) in your game settings. To change your frame rate, you’ll need to disable vertical synch (V-Synch). If you use voice chat, expect to use more data during gameplay. Without voice chat, a comparable online game like PUBG uses less than 30 MB of data per hour. With voice chat, it uses more than 50 MB of data per hour. The tick rate of your server also affects your data use. A 128-tick server, which refreshes the game 128 times every second, uses about twice as much data as a 64-tick server, which refreshes the game 64 times every second.

How is GTA V still selling?
Grand Theft Auto: Online – When Grand Theft Auto 5 debuted on the PS3 and Xbox 360, it was arguably ahead of its time in many respects. While the mechanics at the core of its DNA have remained largely unchanged since the PS2-era, the way in which Rockstar Games has packaged the latest incarnation of its franchise is a radical departure from the norm.
That’s because unlike previous installments, GTA 5 comes complete with its own bespoke multiplayer spin-off. Creating Grand Theft Auto: Online as a fully fleshed out game-within-a-game, is the biggest reason why GTA 5 has become such a sales juggernaut. The way in which Rockstar Games has built GTA: Online to be an ever-evolving world is more in line with the live service games of the current generation, rather than the multiplayer experiences of the era it debuted in.
Considering the impact that the publisher has had on open-world games and third-person shooters in the past, this isn’t an entirely shocking turn of events. What’s been added to the mix online might not be the single-player DLC that players have been clamoring for, but more often than not it’s still substantial content that demands the attention of fans.
Constantly expanding the list of things players can do online, specifically within a GTA sandbox, has helped to keep the game pinned to sales charts across the globe. With content drops making internet headlines on such a regular basis, it’s become almost impossible to avoid GTA 5 on the internet over the last decade.
With so many players continuing to invest money into GTA: Online via microtransactions, the publisher is clearly in no rush to move on from its success. Continually pushing GTA 5 is therefore a more lucrative investment than taking a risk on a brand-new replacement.

Does GTA 5 use real money?
If you click on a link and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. Read our editorial policy, Real money can be spent on chips, though it cannot be cashed back out into actual money Update July 25, 2019: Some players have reported indicate that in certain regions, currency purchased with real money cannot be used in the casino, however, this may not be true across all regions. GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Rockstar for clarification.
Original story: Grand Theft Auto V’s latest update, The Diamond Casino & Resort, adds the titular casino to its fictional Los Santos, but lets players use real money to play its games. The BBC reports that the casino’s chips can be purchased with in-game currency at a $1 to 1 chip ratio. GTA V’s money can be either earned in-game, or purchased with real-world money at a rate of $500,000 in GTA currency for $10 USD.
Buying The Grand Theft Auto 5 Premium Online Edition At Gamestop! (GTA 5 Premium Edition) [GIVEAWAY]
In addition, the casino only allows players to purchase $50,000(GTA) worth of chips per in-game day, or real-world hour. No GTA money or chips can be cashed out for real-world currency, which is notable especially in light of the fact that earlier this week, British MPs declared that FIFA’s in-game player packs and loot boxes were not gambling because there was no legitimate way to monetize their virtual contents after purchase.
Instead, that money can be used to purchase other in-game items, such as cars, weapons, or appearance-changing items. However, not every country sees it that way, as a number of countries have blocked the gambling minigames in GTA V. This happened similarly in another Rockstar title recently, Red Dead Redemption 2,
Unlike GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 notably does not allow players to use real money to purchase its special gambling currency.

Why did GTA give me 250k?
GTA Online Players Randomly Receiving 250k If this phenomenon were to spread like the plague, you can bet your ass that no-one would want a cure. Random players in GTA Online are reporting a surprise deposit of GTA$ 250,000 in their in-game accounts with no indication as to why, and some are even getting the bonus multiple times. Rockstar has held special events and promotions which rewarded players with the same amount for logging into GTA Online at a certain time, most recently during the game’s third anniversary. When initial reports of the “random 250k” began popping up, most people assumed it was that amount arriving late.
However as this became more and more frequent, players who already got their anniversary cash started receiving this bonus as well. It was seemingly random, with players who partook in such promotions before getting cash sometimes, sometimes not, and entirely new players also occasionally getting the bonus while others remained broke.
There was seemingly no system to it, and the random nature of the bonuses was seemingly confirmed when reports of players getting the cash twice started rolling in. Recently, some have even claimed to have received it a third time. But why is Rockstar handing out this free cash? There isn’t any kind of promotion regarding such a reward running currently that the community knows of, and the random nature of it all seems to be a deviation from the company’s usual behavior.
Is this to prepare players for the upcoming DLC? If yes, then we shudder in advance merely thinking about what prices might be like, if Rockstar is throwing cash at players prior to release. Players did get a bit of a cash bonus before particularly major DLC releases in the past. Or could this be the secret guerilla act of a Robin Hood-esque rogue employee who snuck a runtime into the game’s code handing out cash to estranged players who are starting to burn out from the constant grinding? While making cash in GTA Online isn’t half as hard as it is made out to be so long as you know what you’re doing, it is still notoriously difficult compared to other games.
Then again, it might even be the best kind of glitch or bug in the system. The repeated deliveries of the cash to the same people might indicate this, or that at least there is some sort of indexing issue going on in the background. Have you received your free 250k in GTA Online, or are you still waiting? : GTA Online Players Randomly Receiving 250k
