What Happens After Beating Blaidd the Half-Wolf? – 
After beating Blaidd outside of Ranni’s Rise, his questline reaches its end. Of course, players can leave him alive so that he “never dies” in their world, but the only way to receive his gear is to kill him during this final event. Players who defeat Blaidd get almost all of the pieces to his armor set – the only piece not found on his body is his headpiece.
- Blaidd is part wolf, his head isn’t actually a helmet and thus can’t be acquired from his body.
- However, a helmet called the Black Wolf Mask can be found in Seluvis’ Rise, no doubt cast off of a puppet version of the half-wolf.

Blaidd is half-man, half-wolf, and was created by Ranni’s Two Fingers to keep tabs on her, to make sure that she followed the path to her destiny of replacing Queen Marika. But Blaidd didn’t follow the Two Fingers, instead swearing allegiance to Ranni, even after she sought to abandon her quest, stealing the rune of death.
But the Two Fingers had placed a curse on Blaidd – if Ranni ever abandoned her destiny, Blaidd would lose himself, becoming bloodthirsty with an uncontrollable urge to kill. He would go feral. In defiance of the fate he was born to, Blaidd swore to serve no master but Ranni. As proof, the sword was imbued with a cold magic at the moment the oath was sworn.
As for his vendetta with Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, there’s little known. They seem to be part of an order of knights, though we only encounter Darriwill, and they’re Bloodborne-like in their beastly mannerisms and attacks, with elements of Dark Souls 3’s Dancer in their finesse.
And Darriwil’s sword gives us little insight into his origins or feud with Blaidd – you could assume that he posed a threat to Ranni, but that’s simply speculation. We know that Blaidd is a sworn protector of Ranni, so by the events of Elden Ring, we find him doing just that, even as the world crumbles and Ranni forsakes her destiny.
He fights back against the corruption of the Two Fingers, but it eventually engulfs him.

Blaidd does a series of shashing attacks during the encounter, and his abilities will often see him boast a great deal of air time as he is usually leaping and jumping about. It’s important to keep distance and only strike back after he has finished a heavy combo, and a jumping attack will stagger him at this point. Magic users will have a much easier time here as they can just stand at a distance and spam their spells.After taking down Blaidd, players will automatically be rewarded with both his armor set and the Royal Greatsword. Though Blaidd was once an ally, the ending of Ranni’s quest will soon make him the enemy of the Tarnished, and players must then defeat him to obtain his gear.

What does killing Mohg unlock?
Mohg, Lord of Blood Boss Fight Guide – Mohg, Lord of Blood is one of the toughest optional bosses in Elden Ring. He has powerful and far reaching physical attacks, mixed magic and physical damage, and many bleed inflicting spells, and that is BEFORE you even reach his much more powerful second phase.
To prepare you will want high defense and a good 100% physical block shield. Also consider some defensive talismans, like the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman or Pearldrake Talisman, Before doing this boss fight it is highly recommended that you complete the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds (aka Leyndell Sewers) or at least go there and find Mohg’s Shackle, an item that temporarily stuns Mohg and makes the first phase of this fight infinitely easier.
It is located at one of the lowest points of the sewer, in the swampy area with the giant lobsters. If you battled Mohg in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds you will already be familiar with this phase of the battle, but if not here is a little refresher:
If he claws the area in front of him a small explosion will appear after a delay. Wait a beat then dodge roll backwards to avoid the damage. If he reaches behind and charges up the spell the explosion will be bigger but focused directly in front of him, making it easy to side step and strike him a few time. If you are far out of melee range, he will summon a magic rune above him, reach into it, then quickly fling a wave of blood at you. You can avoid this by simply rolling toward the blood as it is flying toward you. If he reaches into that same magic rune and holds his hand there for a second or two he is about to summon his blood rain. You can punish this attack with one or two hits from behind, but once the blood actually starts raining you need to step back to avoid getting caught in the damage cone. Almost all of Mohg’s melee combos are three hits long, so make sure you aren’t trying to punish or guard counter until the very end of the sequence. Be even more careful of the ground stab, which has a second hitbox when he pulls the spear out of the ground. The most punishable attacks are the overhead slam and forward thrust. Both of these can be dodged by simply rolling into him before the weapon makes impact, allowing for a few hits before he will follow up.
Upon taking 15-20% of his health in damage, Mohg will thrust his spear into the air and do a diagonal slash which can be avoid by simply strafing to his offhand side or behind. Even if you avoid this attack a blood ring will appear around your character.
He will do this each time he loses 15-20% of his health, until you have three rings on you. At this point he will activate the rings, causing three instances of highly damaging bleed that restore Mohg’s health. You basically need to chug flasks between the instances of bleed to survive, then get ready for phase two against the newly refreshed Mohg.
There seems to be an opening here to kill Mohg before he has the chance to activate the blood rings and enter phase two, but the timing is tight. You need to get him down to about 60% of his total HP, to the point where he will activate two of the three rings.
Activate all your damage buffs, use Mohg’s Shackle to stun him, then start laying into him with your most damaging combos. If you can burn his remaining 60% health before he can break the shackle and cast the final ring you can end the fight before phase two. Some things that can help: a Bleed weapon, Ash Summon, damage enhancing items, Flask of Wondrous Physick buffs, and damage focused accessories.
You can also use the Purifying Crystal Tear, found the Altus Plateau, to negate the effects of Mohg’s curse entirely and remove the rings from yourself – though he will still go into Phase 2 regardless. Even if you don’t have the damage or execution required to kill Mohg in phase one it is still a good idea to try and maximize your phase one damage because that will mean he starts with less health in phase two, meaning less time you have to phase this hellish foe.
- In phase two Mohg grows wings, his attacks gain even more bleed and magic damage properties, and he starts mixing in some new attacks (and of course, Mohg’s Shackle will no longer stun him).
- Advertisement His base moveset remains mostly the same, except now his melee swings fling blood that deals extra damage and he likes to fly around in the air when casting spells.
If you are using a shield you just have to eat this damage and stay on top of health management between his combos. He seems to be a bit more unrelenting here as well, so it will be harder to create distance and heal when needed. Some new additions: the thrust attack now has a second instance of damage where Mohg twirls the spear to fling blood, and the explosion after the ground stab is bigger and even more damaging, so strafe around and get away from it by any means necessary.
- He also likes to mix in a long range, multi-hit thrust attack when you are far away, which he telegraphs by leaning back with both hands on his weapon, slightly flapping his wings, then dashing forward.
- It seems best to dodge to the side when you see this one coming.
- Same goes for his uppercut into ground slam, which ends in a similar explosion to the ground stab.
It is tempting to try and punish, but it is best to just stay back. So that all sounds pretty dangerous, so when do you hit him? Like usual, the move is to wait for the overhead slam attacks. If you stand outside his melee range you can tempt him into two highly punishable attacks: his long range slam where he holds his spear by the very end and slams it down in front of him.
- Dodge roll forward and you can get in a few easy hits.
- There is another variation of his where he jumps into the air before slamming the spear down, similar concept, similarly punishable.
- The other is his flying uppercut into thrust.
- This is the thrust that does NOT result in a ground stab explosion.
- Dodge into him as he comes down to ground level and you can get in some more free attacks.
And of course, you can still get in a hit or two when he casts the blood rain or claw explosion, if you are quick enough to avoid the hitboxes. All in all, it’s a hard fight but one that can be simplified with the right approach. Never stay in his melee range too long or you may just get caught in his blender of melee attacks and die to stray bleed damage.

It is important to keep him alive. Speak to Tanith once again, and she will inform the player that they have a task. Open the map, and a red dot will appear northeast of the manor and far off to the side, this is where a task is. Keep in mind, the player will need to accomplish two tasks – before and after each, have a conversation with Knight Bernahl.
Travel to this location and defeat the NPC that awaits. After fulfilling this task, head back to Volcano Manor. Tanith will reward the player, and another letter will spawn on the same table where the other letter was located. Pick it up to initiate another quest. Complete this task for the covenant and then speak to Knight Bernahl,
