Every step along the road of Elden Ring expects more of the player than the previous part, with higher stats and more powerful builds being necessary. For all that though, a huge part of the game is decided by the starting build that a player chooses, and one player makes a convincing argument about which one is best: the Samurai.
Players in Elden Ring frequently push themselves to find the limits of what the game can handle. Sometimes this is hitting the actual rune cap of the game, sometimes it’s finding the absolute best build for every boss. And sometimes, as is the case with Redditor Noraje_, it’s demonstrating the power of the Samurai.
Rather than a detailed argument, Noraje_ used a video for evidence showing their Samurai taking down the first boss of the game, a Grafted Scion, using its starting equipment. This is impressive for a couple of reasons. The first is that the Grafted Scion is meant to be a scripted loss at the start of the game.
On a starting playthrough, very few players can bring it down, even knowing what to expect. The second reason is that not only does Noraje_ take down the Scion, but they also take it down easily using the Samurai. Utilizing the skill Unsheathe and a couple of well-placed jumping attacks, the Samurai staggers, bleeds, and destroys the Scion.

- It’s so one-sided it’s almost enough to convince players that the Samurai could beat the final boss of Elden Ring alone and unaltered.

Balanced in speed and strength and with the aforementioned Unsheathe skill, plus a starting longbow, there’s a lot to love. Granted, sometimes Unsheathe makes things go horribly wrong, but that’s mostly in PVP situations. It’s certainly an inspirational video for anyone hung up on the starting Grafted Scion fight and a useful advocation for the Samurai as a starting class.

- We recognize the frustration that many players felt where they would have to work through multiple non-Event related Challenges or burn through Challenge Swaps in order to get an Event Challenge to show up in rotation.
- We felt this too and have made adjustments to ensure that Event Challenges are given greater priority in your challenge pool (provided you have active Event Challenges remaining for the week).
What this means is that Event Challenges have been tuned to appear in your Challenge rotation sooner and they will have a higher weekly cap (originally 7, now 10). Further, we also agreed with feedback around the actual content of the Event Pass regarding the amount of Challenge Swaps and XP Grants that made levelling up feel less rewarding.
The great thing about these events are the cosmetics, that’s what everybody’s excited about and wants to pursue, so we’ve replaced all XP and Challenge Boosts above Tier 10 onwards with cosmetic items. That’s a total of 11 new cosmetic items that will be available completely free. Content that was originally slated to be featured as premium offerings in the store for the remaining weeks of this event has now been added to the core free event pass.
Please note that no content changes were made from the first week of Fracture: Tenrai – these changes only apply to week two onwards. Any premium store purchases made during week one will remain exclusive to the week one store – they are not being added to the Event Pass.

Original Guide – 11/18/2021 If you’re already concerned about grinding out yet another battle pass, Noah Benesch, Marketing Lead for Halo on PC, has clarified that everyone will be given event specific challenges in addition to your normal weekly ones.
- What’s important to note, however, is upon completing one of these event challenges, you’ll be rewarded with both a full event pass rank and also earn progress towards your primary battle pass.
- In this case that means you’ll rank up both your Fracture: Tenrai and Heroes of Reach battle passes at the same time.
Just keep in mind that it doesn’t work in reverse. Normal battle pass challenges do not progress the event one.
