Where is Mt. Gelmir cave?
Mount Gelmir is one of the main regions in Elden Ring. This page includes an overview of the area, including all main dungeons, bosses, loot, and secrets to find in this region. Mt. Gelmir is one of the sub-regions of the Altus Plateau directly north of Liurnia, and is a site of a lava-filled volcano with its own Legacy Dungeon.
It can be reached through the Road of Iniquity in the northeastern part of the Altus Plateau, with another lower path heading through a treacherous canyon past Wyndham Ruins. advertisement The mountain is home to the crazed and frenzied remains of Leyndell soldiers sent to attack the tarnished hunters who live in the Volcano Manor, a legacy dungeon of the region that is ruled over the Praetor Rykard, one of the shardbearer demigods who rejected the Two Fingers and the Golden Order in favor of lusting after a depraved sort of power, and lords over a group of Recusants who hunt and kill other Tarnished – and may even invite you to join their schemes.
To reveal the details and topography of the whole Altus Plateau region, you’ll need to find three Map Fragments at the Steles located in the Altus Plateau proper, as well as Mt Gelmir and the Capital Outskirts.
The Mt Gelmir Map Fragment is located deep within the region, requiring you to undertake twisting pathways and climb up the mountain to reach the Volcano Manor itself, where you’ll find the Map Stele on a road below the manor leading to the large broken bridge – but beware the hands that guard it.
Mt Gelmir’s Legacy Dungeon is called the Volcano Manor, and it is the fourth (or possibly fifth) such main dungeon you will encounter naturally in Elden Ring. It is somewhat close in size to the Academy of Raya Lucaria, and is hidden deep within the mountain at the base of the volcano that bears its namesake.
- It is ruled by a depraved demigod called Praetor Rykard, the Blasphemer.
- Unlike other dungeons, getting to the Volcano Manor is half the trouble – as you’ll need to find the twisting paths and rope ladders to scale the mountains until you can finally reach the entrance.
- Once inside, you’ll find the real dungeon is hidden, and must either explore carefully or undertake missions for the lady of the house, Tanith.
Completing all assassination missions will let you bypass the rest of the dungeon straight to the boss, or you can explore the prison town, torture chambers, and magma fields below the manor. When you’re ready, see our Volcano Manor Walkthrough to learn how to defeat the enemies within, and find every last item and secret inside.

How do I get from Volcano Manor to Volcano Cave?
Complete Rya’s Questline To Teleport To Volcano Manor – The Abductor Virgin isn’t the only way for players to teleport to Volcano Manor. The final method for reaching the lava-laden location is the easiest overall, as it doesn’t require players to really fight any bosses. To reach Volcano Manor, players will need to find and speak to Rya to begin her short questline.
She can be found North of the Laskyar Ruins in Liurnia of the Lakes. Players will find her near the Birdseye Telescope that is just North of the ruins and she will be standing near a statue inside a gazebo-like structure. Rya will inform players that someone has taken her necklace and she desperately wants it back.
If players choose to help her, they’ll need to find the man that took it and get it back. The NPC in question can be found crouched down outside of the Boilprawn Shack, directly Northwest of Rya’s location. Speaking to the man will give players a chance to inquire about the necklace, and if they want it back they’ll need to pay 1000 Runes.
- Paying the small fee rewards players with the necklace, which they can then take back to Rya.
- Rya will thank the player and inform them that she works for Lady Tanith of Volcano Manor.
- After listening to her speak (and exhausting her dialogue by speaking to her multiple times), players will need to progress until they reach Atlus Plateau by way of the Grand Lift of Dectus,
Players should spot Rya at the top of the lift, waiting near a banister on the left. Speaking to her here will have the NPC offer her hand to the player and instantly teleport them to Tanith’s Chambers in Volcano Manor. How do you open the volcano dungeon?
Volcano Dungeon’s Entryway The Volcano Dungeon is located inside the volcano at the north end of Ginger Island, accessed through a large cave on the south side of the volcano. The dungeon consists of ten levels through which the player must proceed in sequence to reach the Forge, thereby “completing” the dungeon.
- Entering the cave, the player faces a lava river, across which lies the Volcano Dungeon.
- On the west side of the entryway is a pool of water.
- On its east side is a gate, initially locked, with a button on the floor to the south through the gate, out of reach.
- To cross the lava river and enter the dungeon, pour water on it with the watering can, creating a pathway to walk on.
A steel (or higher) watering can is able to cover 5 squares in line, enough to build a bridge with a single tool use. The path remains for the length of the day, but disappears every night. After the player completes the dungeon, a parrot offers to build a permanent bridge in exchange for 5 Golden Walnuts,

How do I get to Volcano Manor without fighting bosses?
Follow Rya’s Questline In Liurnia – This option is the simplest route to Volcano Manor, teleporting you to Volcano Manor pretty much right after gaining access to Altus Plateau. Starting At the Laskyar Ruins site of grace in Liurnia of the Lakes, ride northwest, heading toward the golden telescope icon on the map.
There, you will encounter an NPC named Blackguard Big Boggart, He’s the one who stole the necklace. Ask for the necklace back. He will offer to sell it to you for 1,000 Runes. If you accept, he will return the necklace and become a merchant. If you refuse, you can kill him to gain the necklace, but if you do so you will lose access to his questline and its interaction with the Loathsome Dungeater.
Once you’ve acquired the necklace, return to Rya. She will be overjoyed that you returned her necklace. Due to your assistance, she recognizes the quality of your character. She tells you of Lady Tanith and Volcano Manor, and she ultimately offers you a Volcano Manor invitation,
Rya will meet you nearby the ends of both of these routes: if you take the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, Rya will be waiting for you by the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace, over by the Lux Ruins nearby. If you take the Grand Lift of Dectus, Rya can be found waiting just ahead after stepping off the lift in Altus Plateau,

Is Magma Wyrm an optional boss?
Magma Wyrm Makar is another Great Enemy in Elden Ring, Fighting him is entirely optional and does not affect the story whatsoever. Magma Wyrm Makar guards one of the entrances to Altus Plateau, The main path is through the Grand Lift of Dectus, and you will need two medallions for it.
However, if you do not possess them, you can go through Ruin-Strewn Precipice and face the Magma Wyrm boss. The fight requires proper spacing because of the constant magma the boss spews out. Aside from that, there are more things to avoid, which will be explained in this guide. Updated May 15, 2022 by Charlene Maria Teressa: Magma Wyrm Makar is not the only deadly Magma Wyrm in The Lands Between.
Scattered throughout its sprawling lands, you’ll find two more Magma Wyrm bosses that are forces to be reckoned with. But you’ll notice a definite change of scenery, where their own boss arenas work against you. Thus, we have decided it would be fitting that this guide will be dedicated to defeating all Magma Wyrm bosses in Elden Ring.

Unfortunately, that means the deepest cave in the world title still belongs to Veryovkina—in the Arabika Massif in Abkhazia—a region of Georgia.

Is the deepest cave in world located?
World’s Deepest Freshwater Cave Is Twice as Deep as Previously Thought Polish explorers check a footage from a remote-operated vehicle deep in the Czech Republic’s deepest cave. AP Photo/ Marcin Jamkowski The deepest freshwater cave on Earth, the Hranice Abyss, stretches about 3,280 feet deep, Charlotte Hartley reports for magazine.
- Measurements taken in 2016 with a remotely operated vehicle secured its spot as the deepest freshwater cave when it dove to a depth of 1,300 feet in the abyss.
- But a combination of geophysical techniques, including the use of electrodes and small explosives, have now revealed a rough map of the caves, featuring sediment-covered trenches that reach more than a half mile deep.
The process is detailed in a paper published last month in the, The evidence also points to a new explanation for how the cavern formed. University of Bologna geologist Francesco Sauro, who wasn’t involved in the new study, tells Science magazine that the researchers’ use of multiple geophysical techniques is one of the study’s strengths.
“It’s a good example of how you should do things,” Sauro tells Science, adding that the new estimate of the cavern’s depth is “impressive.” The Hranice Abyss took its place as the deepest freshwater cave in 2016, Kat Long reported for at the time. Divers explored the limestone caverns and used a remotely-operated vehicle to travel to about 1,300 feet below the surface.
But as reported in 2017, the vehicle’s cable stopped it short of reaching the bottom. Still, the depth measured in the Hranice Abyss still beat the next-deepest freshwater cave, Italy’s Pozzo del Merro, which is about 1,280 feet deep. (The absolute deepest known cave on Earth is the in Georgia, at more than 6,800 feet deep.) The Hranice Abyss is located in a limestone formation in the Czech Republic.
- The stone face is full of holes worn away by acidic snowmelt, leaving it Swiss cheese-like, reports Science magazine.
- Many caverns were formed by this top-down erosion, but scientists long believed that the Hranice Abyss was formed from the bottom-up because of chemicals found in the water that come from deep underground.
The research team led by geophysicist Radek Klanica of the Czech Academy of Sciences first used an array of electrodes to map the structure of the limestone based on its ability to conduct electricity. Another array of sensors measured slight variations in gravity around the abyss.
- Finally, a series of small explosions created waves that bounced through the cavern and back to sensors on the surface.
- The series of techniques revealed that the deepest parts of the Abyss are filled with sediment, but also suggest that the cave was formed as groundwater drained through the limestone from the mountains above.
Later, it’s possible that water from underneath the cavern surged up and joined with the eroded abyss, bringing the chemicals from deep underground with it. Klanica tells Science magazine that the results suggest that other scientists may need to reexamine other deep caves that they think formed from the bottom.
