How do you progress D’s quest in Elden Ring? – Keep speaking with Fia (the death hug lady) in the Roundtable Hold. At some point, possibly after you first defeat Godrick, though it seems different for every player, she’ll ask you to help her. She wants you to return a dagger to its rightful owner.

That would be D, so hand it over when you’re ready. The next step is to fast travel to the Hold again. Enter the room behind the blacksmith – to the left of the stairs – to find Fia standing over D’s dead body. Loot his body to get a special Bell Bearing for the Twin Husks and a set of Twinned Armor. Here’s where the quest branches and still involves D.

You’ll need to carry on Fia’s quest, which involves progressing Ranni’s until you obtain the Carian Inverted Statue. After that, you can find D’s brother in Nokron, Eternal City, just outside the arena where you face the Valiant Gargoyles. Give him the armor.

Note that if you do, he’ll wake from his eternal (not so eternal now) slumber and murder Fia later in her quest. If you don’t, he stays asleep and Fia remains alive through the end of the game. Fia’s death occurs after she gives you her Mending Rune, so it doesn’t affect the, Alternatively, you can kill D when you find him near Stormhill Shack, before visiting Roundtable Hold, and give his armor to his brother.

A seemingly simple question, but not frequently explored since most build discussion centers around weapons, spells, and talismans, with armor mostly as an afterthought or whatever fits within your weight budget.

• For this analysis, I considered full armor sets broken down into the following weight buckets:
• Very Light – armor set weight of 15 and below, base 8 Endurance with a heavy non-Colossal weight (<= 15 weight) weapon
• Light – armor set weight of 15 to 23, base 8 Endurance with a light (<= 6 weight) weapon
• Medium – armor set weight of 23 to 35, up to 25 Endurance with a heavy non-Colossal weight (<= 15 weight) weapon
• Heavy -armor set weight of 35 and above, higher than 25 points of Endurance with any weapon

All categories include <70% equip load to maintain medium roll, and 4 talismans at 0.5 weight each. You can also use equip load increasing talismans such as Erdtree Favor and Jar Talisman to stretch these weight categories. To use a Colossal weapon at base 8 Endurance, you'd basically have to use incomplete armor sets, or just go completely without armor.

As expected, the higher the weight category, the lower the efficiency as you sacrifice weight for more stats. Onto the armor recommendations!

• Very Light (15 and below)
• Starting off with the lightest category, my recommendations for Very Light armor sets are:
• Lusat’s Set for highest overall stats, with a surprisingly high Physical stat and very high Elemental damage resists across the board
• Godskin Noble Set for highest stats taking efficiency into account, being almost as strong as Lusat’s Set, but 2 weight lighter in a class where every point counts

Guilty Set for the highest efficiency across all armor sets, although it’s only a 3-piece.11.9 resists for 6.6 weight is absurd!

6. Rotten Duelist Set if you need something on the lightest end of this weight spectrum

9. Next up, my recommendations for Medium armor sets are:
10. Blaidd’s Set for highest overall stats, but relatively poor efficiency. High resists across the board for this category
11. Gelmir Knight Set for high stats and high-ish efficiency, or any of the similar -XXXXX- Knight Sets
12. Knight Set for average resilience and slightly higher efficiency
13. Heavy (35 and above)
15. Lastly, recommendations for the no-limits Heavy armor sets are:
16. Bull-Goat Set for overall highest stats in the game for any armor set, but also the highest weight and the lowest efficiency
17. Crucible Axe/Tree Set for highest efficiency in this category, with Tree being ever so slightly better, but essentially the same
18. Honestly, anything except for the Royal Knight Set works in this weight category, and it’ll all depend on how much Endurance you’re willing to spend.

20. There are a few important caveats to call out:
21. First and foremost, this data does not take into account passive effects that armors may have, which could completely change the evaluation of what armor set is “best”, and there is no good way to fairly compare across different builds
22. This evaluates armor sets on an aggregate basis, using my own judgement for which resist types are most important. Different scenarios may call for different armor types, and this only seeks to provide general game recommendations
23. I evaluated armors only in their complete sets as taken from the Wiki, which brings issues: 1) Not every component of the set is equally as efficient, so mixes of different sets will probably be better, and 2) Not all armor sets have 4 pieces. If there is enough interest, I could repeat this analysis for all individual components instead of complete armor sets
24. This does not take into account how easy each set is to acquire; some sets may not be available until very late in the game, or requires potentially grinding to farm the entire set, while others are early and easy
