No new content – Even though the title of the remaster has “expanded” in it, in reality, the game does not provide anything substantially different than the original. Most of the difference comes in the technical aspects of the game, but in the gameplay and story aspects, everything is the same as the original.

Will GTA 6 be a thing?
GTA 6 release date estimate – The GTA 6 release date is still unknown and is yet to be officially confirmed, Even the Rockstar employees that Bloomberg ‘s Jason Schreier interviewed for his widely-read report on the game couldn’t speak to it. The Bloomberg article notes: “Industry analysts anticipate that the next Grand Theft Auto will be out sometime in Take-Two’s 2024 fiscal year, which runs from April 2023 through March 2024, but developers are skeptical.” Microsoft has also stated that GTA 6 is expected around this time, with a response to the UK Competition and Markets Authority investigation into its acquisition of Activision Blizzard reading: “The highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024.
Another rumour spotted by GamesRadar is suggesting that GTA 6 development could well be into its final polishing phase. If the leaks in the tweet below are to be believed, anyway. Given that polishing a game can still take a year or longer (especially one as large as GTA 6), these latest rumours are pointing towards a 2024 release date, backing up Microsoft’s claim above.
Without official word from the developer, however, we can’t say this with any certainty. Always take rumours with a pinch of salt or two.

Will GTA 5 get a free PS5 upgrade?
Rockstar’s celebrated open-world action game Grand Theft Auto V is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022, and many might be wondering if it will be a free upgrade for existing owners or if it won’t. With a game this successful, it’s unsurprising to learn that the upgrade will not be free.
However, that doesn’t mean you’ll have to start from scratch in the new version. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S represent the third generation of consoles on which GTA V will be available, following the game’s debut on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. When GTA V originally expanded to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014-taking advantage of the increased horsepower of those systems to deliver a better experience overall-the game was released as a full-priced standalone title instead of a free upgrade for people who already bought the game originally.

Now Playing: Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 Trailer | Sony PS5 Reveal Event With GTA V continuing to sell exceptionally well-it sold 5 million copies in the April-June quarter, propelling the game to 150 million sold overall -it stands to reason that Rockstar and parent company Take-Two will continue to ride the wave for as long as it makes commercial sense to do so.
While GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S may not be a free upgrade, Rockstar will release the new GTA Online standalone edition for free on PS5 for the first three months after launch starting in March 2022. Because of this, pricing varies between the systems. Typically $40, the Xbox Series X|S version is currently $20 prior to launch, while the PS5 version is $10 prior to launch, accounting for the free GTA Online inclusion on the platform.
The game will also support cross-progression via a “one-time migration,” bringing both your single-player progress and your GTA Online progress to either the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will have a “range of technical and graphical improvements across the entire experience.” This includes performance enhancements for some cars in GTA Online “and so much more,” Rockstar says.
We know this includes 4K resolution and 60fps gameplay, among other improvements. The studio is calling the new edition of GTA V an “expanded and enhanced” version. A new trailer for the game shown during the PlayStation Showcase event didn’t wow fans, however, and it became massively downvoted as a result.
GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S was originally set for release on November 11, but Rockstar recently shifted the game to March 15, 2022 to give the team more time for “polishing and fine-tuning.” In addition to GTA V for new platforms, Rockstar is believed to be working on Grand Theft Auto 6,
- A recent report said it might launch in 2025 and feature a Fortnite-style map that evolves over time,
- The game is said to be set in a modern-day Vice City.

What will be added in GTA 5 expanded and enhanced?
What has changed in GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced? – In another official blog post, Rockstar has detailed the expansions and enhancements that you’ll see if you buy GTA 5 again for PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. The blog promises “new graphics modes including up to 4K resolution, a framerate of up to 60 frames per second, improved texture qualities, HDR options and ray tracing, faster loading times, immersive 3D audio, platform-specific features, and more”.
- Those are the technical enhancements, basically, but what about the ‘expanded’ side of things? What is actually being added to GTA 5 in terms of new content? Well, to be honest, you shouldn’t expect that much in terms of fresh playable stuff.
- There aren’t any new story chapters being added here, and nor are there any new gameplay modes.
However, as promised, you will be able to choose between a number of different visual modes that were never available on console before. They have been described in yet another official blog post like so:
Fidelity Mode – “tuned for the highest visual quality and targets 30 FPS. In this mode the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X support native 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled while the Xbox Series S supports upscaled 4K resolution.” Performance Mode – “tuned for the most responsive gameplay experience and targets 60 FPS. In this mode, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X support upscaled 4K resolution while the Xbox Series S supports a resolution of 1080p.” Performance RT mode – “a hybrid of the Fidelity and Performance modes supporting upscaled 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled and targeting 60 FPS” (this last one is not available on Xbox Series S).
Within the game itself, Rockstar hopes you will notice “increased population and traffic variety, increased vegetation density, improved lighting quality across shadows, water reflections, and other elements. Plus improved anti-aliasing, motion-blur, highly detailed new explosions, fire, and much more.” PS5 owners will also be able to feel enhanced controller sensations, with Rockstar adding support for the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features.

Is GTA 5 the most realistic game?
GTA 4 vs GTA 5: Realism – The GTA series has always been touted as one of the most realistic open-world games out there. The minute details in-game are often too minute to notice, but the devs make sure not to leave a single spot. However, fans have noticed quite a few differences over time, and the results don’t always see the latest edition on top.
The close-quarter unarmed combat in GTA 4 is way ahead of what the current game offers. Niko Bellic had different animations and could pull off quite a few moves compared to Michael, Trevor, or Franklin. In 5, players can place a one-punch knockout on almost any NPC. Another small addition that the fourth game saw and the fifth missed was players’ ability to eat at restaurants like ordinary people.5 allows players to store snacks and access them via the interaction menu.5 also allowed players to get sodas from vending machines.
As far as realism goes, GTA 5 never even came close as it featured flying bikes and cars in terms of vehicles. The two Opressors and the Deluxo are often the most hated additions to the game as they have increased griefing tenfold. The Orbital Cannon has also done more of the same.
In Four, however, players never really had this futuristic and unrealistic stuff to exploit. Although GTA 5 can have more action and adventure, the story is not quite as realistic and grim as gamers experienced playing with Niko Bellic, The dark circumstances that led Niko to Liberty City and the ensuing hunt are far more thrilling and real.
Five is less believable because it doubles down on being more satirical than real. The allegations of the edition being too ‘arcadey’ is very common and true to an extent. The driving and gunplay mechanics in Five are not close to reality, even by a mile.
All the guns play the same way and the only thing different is the stats. As far as driving is concerned, it is fun to drive in the current game and it does offer way more vehicles to choose from. However, 4 hit it out of the park as far as realism goes. Realistic car damage was evident as specific parts would get dents and scrapes as they got hit.
Driving was even more practical in terms of handling, speed and feedback. Trying to steer a heavy car at high speed around corners felt like it.

Is GTA V next gen upgrade worth it?
When Grand Theft Auto 5 was first released in 2013, it quickly became one of the highest-rated video games ever made and an unprecedented sales success. A year later, Rockstar Games released an enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5 for the then-new PS4 and Xbox One consoles, making some meaningful improvements in the process.
- Fast-forward to 2022 and Rockstar Games is releasing Grand Theft Auto 5 yet again, this time for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
- The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 don’t offer as big of a leap as the game enjoyed when it went from PS3 and Xbox 360 to PS4 and Xbox One, but there are still some notable upgrades.
Grand Theft Auto 5 next-gen graphics are definitely improved, though of course not in a way that fully takes advantage of the added horsepower. It also runs much smoother, with players able to choose between Performance, Performance RT, and Fidelity modes. Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X is a visual improvement across the board, regardless of what display option players go with. It performs better, it looks better, and the load times have also been vastly improved, which is easily one of the best changes when going from the PS4 and Xbox One version to GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
- Grand Theft Auto 5 load times have been notoriously long for nearly a decade now, but they’re sped up considerably on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
- Just like playing Grand Theft Auto 5 in 60 frames per second will make it impossible for players to go back to older versions, the faster load times also represent a meaningful upgrade that will make it difficult for fans to play the game any other way.
Besides these changes and smaller upgrades, Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X is otherwise the same game that fans have been playing for almost 10 years now. The story mode is phenomenal, with varied missions objectives, a gripping narrative, top-tier writing, and no shortage of things to do while exploring the vast open world of Los Santos. When GTA 5 jumped to PS4 and Xbox One, it came with some significant new gameplay additions. Players were given the option to play the entire game in first-person mode, and they were also able to transform into animals by eating the new peyote plants that were added to the world map.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions lack these new meaningful gameplay experiences. The PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto 5 uses the unique DualSense controller features, but otherwise players are basically signing up for the same exact experience that they’ve been playing for years, only with faster load times and better graphics.
Every Single NEW Feature Added in GTA Expanded & Enhanced
Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X doesn’t represent all that significant of a leap forward. The faster load times are nice, but anyone that’s already played the story mode plenty will find little reason to come back for all that long. The lack of new additions makes Rockstar’s decision to ask fans to pay for the next-gen version of the game a bit hard to swallow, especially since there are games that have provided more worthwhile next-gen upgrades completely free of charge.
- It does make it easier to understand why the company decided to stop marketing the game as “Expanded and Enhanced,” however.
- On the bright side, Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X is available at a steep discount right now, and PS5 gamers even have a few months to claim the new version of GTA Online for free,
As it so happens, Grand Theft Auto Online really seems to be the centerpiece of this latest re-release. For those that have yet to jump into the chaotic world of Grand Theft Auto Online, it has a new Career Builder mode that teaches new players how to play and gives them a nice $4 million to start their online adventures with. Those that aren’t interested in starting GTA Online from scratch have the option of transferring their character from older versions of the game to the new version, which is a painless process. Even if one decides to transfer their existing GTA Online character to the new version, though, they can still make a new character and start at the beginning if they’d like.
Grand Theft Auto Online actually has some exclusive content only available in the new version of the game in the form of Hao’s Special Works, This is a new shop that gives players more freedom when it comes to customization and upgrading special vehicles. The other notable GTA Online change is the new menu, which allows players to more easily start specific activities – a greatly appreciated quality-of-life improvement that will help players start heists and get into the action much faster than before.
Otherwise, Grand Theft Auto Online is pretty much the same story as the single-player mode. Those playing GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X can expect a superior experience than they’re used to, with improved graphics and performance, but it’s difficult to say that the upgrades make it worth buying all over again.
Those that haven’t played Grand Theft Auto Online for a long time may get more out of it, though, as Rockstar Games has never stopped supporting the game, regularly releasing new content updates including rather substantial ones like The Cayo Perico Heist, for example. Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X are still phenomenal games that one could easily sink hundreds of hours into, but there’s no getting around that they are fundamentally the same experiences as before, only with better graphics and performance.
Someone that hasn’t played GTA 5 or GTA Online in a long time will get more mileage out of this new version, but those that have played both regularly since launch may be better off waiting for the eventual Grand Theft Auto 6, The new version of Grand Theft Auto 5 is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

How much is GTA 6 going to cost?
GTA 6 Could Be The Most Expensive Game Of All Time – During the hot mess that was the whole leak situation, a number was unearthed for the budget of GTA 6: over $2 billion is what has been claimed to be the budget of the game. Damn, that’s a lot! Originally, there was some confusion about this figure.
- Of course, its legitimacy is still questionable, even though all the other material from the leak has been legit.
- But it also wasn’t clear, what exactly the $2 billion meant.
- Check out everything we know about GTA 6 in this video: At first, it was communicated that these billions were already spent on the game.
Even though it has been supposedly in pre-production since 2014 and full production since 2019, this wouldn’t make much sense. And yes, that is obviously BS. But this number could still be real, as an industry insider explained on Twitter. I’m seeing a lot of creators not understanding the GTA 6 budget that may have leaked.
- 2 Billion has not been spent.
- It will be spent on the ENTIRE game.
- This includes development, marketing & likely post-launch support related to the Online.
- Still a lot of cash to spend tho.
- Michael (@LegacyKillaHD) September 25, 2022 So the $2 billion could be the entire budget for GTA 6, which would easily make it the most expensive video game ever.
Seems a bit high, since the highest reported budgets are Star Citizen with around half a billion dollars and Cyberpunk 2077 with $317 million. Official numbers for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 have never been revealed, with estimations seeing these budgets at around $300 Million for both games.
Red Dead 2 even has some suggestions going up as high as 540$ Million. Can GTA 6 really be that much more expensive? We think: yes! Considering the incredible success and longevity of Grand Theft Auto 5, it would make sense that Rockstar and parent company Take-Two want to throw everything they can at this game and make it one of the biggest games ever,
That includes tons of marketing and post-launch support. Also, GTA 6 has been in development for years and is still a while away, so those expenses will be very high as well. Still. that’s a lot of money! We better get some incredible trailers. And soon please, Rockstar.
