Here’s how you can stop players from invading your game in Elden Ring. Elden Ring takes the beloved Soulsborne formula and expands it across a sprawling open world. There are many systems and mechanics at play, with Invasions being among them. However, some players might not be too keen on other players barging into their game and attacking them. To turn off invasions in Elden Ring, you’ll need to simply avoid summoning other players into your game, Playing in solo mode, while connected to the internet, will not allow players to invade your world. You’re entirely safe when doing this. However, summoning other players to aid you in battle will also open the door for unsuspecting players to show up and try to kill you.
Summoning a friend can be helpful in getting past a tough boss, so you’ll have to just weigh your risks. It’s worth noting that Elden Ring does have several scripted NPC invasions. If you’re playing solo and have invasions near a particular landmark, it’s probably one of those instances. You’ll know an invasion is about to commence when you’re forced off of Torrent without any prompt.
If you want to avoid even NPC invaders, you can simply run from them and they will eventually disappear. When players invade your game, you likely won’t know until they pop out on you unsuspectingly and try to kill you. Hardcore Soulsborne fans will likely find a lot of joy in this feature, but it’s understandable while many players won’t, considering how difficult the game already is with NPC bosses. Why do we keep getting invaded in Elden Ring?
Players who have been engaging in Elden Ring’s co-op frequently may be seeing a lot of red phantoms because summoning others brings risk of invasion. The multiplayer mechanics of Elden Ring make it quite easy to play through nearly the entire game alongside a friend or two, but even setting a password won’t stop other players from invading. In fact, those who have been playing a lot of co-op may feel as though they are becoming the target of invasions an inordinate amount.
- Setting a multiplayer password restricts the pool of available summon signs, but doesn’t affect how Elden Ring ‘s PvP invasions work,
- As long as players are participating in co-op, they are liable to be invaded.
- Elden Ring ‘s brand of multiplayer harkens back to 2009’s Demon’s Souls, but is far more forgiving than early iterations.
Being in Human Form in Demon’s Souls – or having restored Humanity in Dark Souls – would open the player up to invasions. This mechanic introduces a trade-off where summoning is possible, especially in Demon’s Souls where characters in Soul Form have lower maximum hit points.
In Elden Ring, this trade-off has been transferred entirely to co-op. Playing co-op in any form will open up the game to invaders, a consequence for the massive boon having a second player can be. This rule is universal, regardless of whether or not co-op has been initiated through the use of a password.
Elden Ring co-op helps with leveling up and fighting particularly tough bosses, but the entire affair comes with an inherent risk of being invaded. This mechanic also means the host will usually be at an advantage with two players against the one. For those frustrated with invasions, there’s unfortunately no way to circumvent this, since it’s a purposefully designed element of Elden Ring ‘s multiplayer.

Can you play Elden Ring coop without invasions?
How Elden Ring multiplayer differs from most games – Multiplayer in Elden Ring is built around the concept of summoning other players into your game world (or joining theirs) and taking on the Lands Between together. You use an item to place your “summon sign” down on the ground, and that sign will show up for other players.
- You can’t summon in an area where you’ve already defeated the boss (though you can still put your own sign down and help other players defeat it)
- In the open world, you can’t use your spectral steed while playing co-op
- When you find the entrance to a dungeon you want to explore, you can’t load into the new area; you’ll have to end the multiplayer session and start it up again once you enter
Multiplayer items are explained in more detail below. Once you get past the confusing names, it’s not too hard to understand how it all works. Even if you’re not sure about playing in multiplayer, I strongly encourage playing online, which is the default.
This way you get to see messages from other players as well as their blood splatters, which give you a glimpse of how they died. That can be really helpful information, and it also just generally adds to the flavor of FromSoftware’s games. Even when the messages are stupid. To be clear, in Elden Ring, other players can’t invade you just because you’re “online.” You’ll only be invaded while you’re actively in a co-op session with another player.
This is part of what makes co-op exciting: you’re much more powerful with a friend in your game, but that power comes with some risk, too.

How do invasions work in Elden Ring?
How to play PvP in Elden Ring – (Image credit: FromSoftware) There’s two ways to play PvP in Elden Ring, either by invading players or by entering the more controlled-and-fair chaos of the Colosseum.
- Invasions. This allows you to enter somebody else’s game and try to kill them, the counterpart to the Elden Ring coop and multiplayer systems. You’ll be there until you either kill them or are killed yourself, whereupon you get returned to your previous game.
- Colosseum. The Colosseum is the game mode where you can fight other players in arenas, either individually or in teams, by going to any of the Elden Ring Colosseum locations, listed at the page connected. There’s no structured rewards for doing so at time of writing, but it’s fun and a good way to test your skills accordingly.
The Colosseum is complex enough that we put together a full Elden Ring Colosseum page on how it works and how you can win there, but we’ll explain just below how to invade in PvP below and the mechanics involved.

Is there a timer for invasions in Elden Ring?
Why Are Players Overwhelmed by the Invasion Changes in Elden Ring? – Players have to fend off Invasions much more frequently due to the increased Invasion distance changes Elden Ring made in the 1.06 patch update. This forces them to stop their task and use resources while exploring dungeons or preparing for a boss fight.
The Invasions in Elden Ring were initially a lot less bothersome, which resulted in a more casual and accessible experience.
Casual players felt that an Invasion was a rare obstacle, and most could fend it off a few times during a play session.
Now, Invasions are happening much more often. Players doing a cooperative session to clear dungeons will likely have to deal with multiple invaders in a single dungeon run.
Elden Ring has a cooldown timer between Invasions, and some players are finding this timeframe frustratingly short.
We know of the existence due to the description of the Taunter’s Tongue, which states that it “shortens the interval between windows of opportunity for invasion.”
Invasions immediately happen when a player summons someone for help.
This is frustrating because they have to use their flasks and items to fend off the invader right before a major boss fight.
Singe-players are still safe thanks to the fact that Invasions can only happen in a coop lobby, Most invasions tend to happen to players trying to clear every dungeon in Elden Ring with their friends.

Can you stop an NPC from attacking you Elden Ring?
How To De-Aggro NPCs In Elden Ring – Once players have a Celestial Dew, they can head to the Church of Vows and interact with the statue on the altar to atone for their sins (speaking to Elden Ring’s Turtle Pope is optional). This will remove any NPC hostility players have acquired up to this point.
Thus, players can continue their quests and make purchases from shops without worrying about inconvenient aggression. Removing NPC aggression in Elden Ring does not prevent them from becoming violent again if players accidentally attack them a second time. Using the Church of Vows only affects player actions up to that point, it does not allow them to act with impunity from that point forward.
If Tarnished anger another character in the future, they will need to return to Elden Ring’s Church of Vows with another Celestial Dew.

I totally get that, in terms of game mechanics, it’s a good way to keep things somewhat balanced. It doesnt need to be fixed simply because you are purposly trying to ruin other players runs so you need a penalty for doing so. If this wasnt a thing every single players would invade at no cost. The reason coop doesnt lose runes is bc nobody would do coop then Last edited by Regufyz ; 12 Mar, 2022 @ 10:53am What do you even get if you win? What do you even get if you win? Rune arc.

What is the optimal level for PvP in Elden Ring?
Elden Rings PvP can be a little bit cumbersome to understand due to the game’s level system. Elden Ring is extremely popular, and its sales figures have been notorious. This praise is well deserved, as the world in Elden Ring is crammed with details and discoveries waiting at every corner.
However, it will take any player a long time to discover all the secrets The Lands Between offers. The good news is that after completing all these quests and conquering every boss, Elden Ring offers a robust PvP for players to enjoy. Nevertheless, like every other mechanic in the game, PvP in Elden Ring has its quirks and gimmicks.
PvP is somewhat affected by your character’s level, so here we will let you know what the recommended level for an optimal experience in Elden Ring is! The Elden Ring community agrees with 150 as the meta level for PvP, as matchmaking depends on the player’s current level and the level of the highest upgraded weapon. When talking about PvP, your level does matter, as it will determine the pool of players you are matched against. There are several aspects why this level seems to be the more popular amongst the community :
You will most likely reach this level naturally as you progress through your first playthroughA level below 125 would be too low for a New Game+ playthrough, making it more difficult than it shouldWeapon requirements are high, and the 150-level cap would allow for decent PvP build flexibilityThe recommended 150 level allows for hitting the soft caps of Vigor, Endurance, and an additional damage stat For spell casters, there is the additional Mind stat that also needs attentionA 150 level allows for a 60 Vigor option, which is quite helpful on PvP
Aside from all the serious technical talk, the Elden Ring community is also a ton of fun. These are the best memes the Elden Ring community has created thus far !

Elden Ring players will be invaded by Ensha every single time they return to Roundtable Hold until they defeat the character. Leaving quickly and coming back won’t prevent their hositlity. Hitting Albus will reward players with the right medallion piece (Image via FromSoftware Inc.) There is nothing too special about this invader battle. If players treat it like any other battle, it shouldn’t be difficult to defeat Ensha. The character is very mobile, though, so a weapon that can strike from a distance may be the best.
