Where to go after Raya Lucaria Academy: Altus Plateau and Leyndell – After Liurnia and Raya Lucaria Academy, next you need to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus to the north-east, Fast travel back to the Main Academy Gate Site of Grace and interact with the blue seal facing north.
You’ll be teleported across the broken bridge onto Bellum Highway, simply follow that road to get to the Grand Lift of Dectus, it’s a mammoth looking structure, you can’t miss it. To use the Lift, you need to find the Dectus Medallion left half and Dectus Medallion right half, Doing so will allow you to arrive in the Altus Plateau.
Know that you can technically go around the lift via other routes to reach the Altas Plateau – but this is the most straightforward way to do so. Now that you’ve made it up the lift, your next destination is the city of Leyndell, To get there simply follow the main road, ignoring the fork off to the left. You’ll see another grand piece of architecture in the distance, some huge doors, and a massive sloped walkway, all of which are pictured below. Go towards those huge doors and through them, to which you’ll find a Site of Grace and some Golden Seeds,
From here head up the road to your left and there’ll be some tough enemies along with another glowing Erdtree and two more Golden Seeds, Keep heading up the road and turn to the right toward the top of the hill before the giant gateway, where you’ll find another Site of Grace.
Now you should be at the Outer Wall Battleground Site of Grace, from here you need to head east through some enemies and camps. We’ve marked where you need to end up with a blue beacon on the map below.
Once you arrive you’ll be met with a boss called the Draconic Tree Sentinel, who’ll be guarding a fog door. Defeat them to get through it.
Make your way through where the fog gate was and activate the Capital Rampart Site of Grace.
At this point it’s worth mentioning that to get into Leyndell you need at least two Great Runes, If you’ve followed this guide and been to Stormveil Castle and Raya Lucaria Academy and beaten the bosses there, you should already have what you need. If not, here are the four Great Runes and where to get them.
Godrick the Grafted (Stormveil Castle) Renalla, Queen of the Full Moon (Raya Lucaria Academy) Starscourge Radahn (Redmane Castle) Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (Mt Gelmir)
Whilst you can do any of these four, Godrick and Renalla are on the main path, and the easiest to defeat. You shouldn’t have an obstruction if you’ve followed the walkthrough up until this point, but if you’re told you need more Great Runes, make sure you have at least two from the above.
From this Site of Grace you need to head northwest down the stairs, past the archer, and then scale the giant dragon to the left. You’ll then come to the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace, pictured below.
Move south along the castle structure, and you’ll come to some giant tree trunks emerging from the ground. Scale them and follow them all the way around to the left, going higher and higher as you do.
Now you’ll come to a large doorway and your next essential boss, Godfrey, First Elden Lord,
After defeating Godfrey, head to the eastern side of the room you’re in, turn left and make your way up the tree trunk that loops back inside to an upper wooden platform. Follow the door outside and along the curved walkway and you’ll find the Queen’s Bedchamber Site of Grace. Keep moving and you’ll come up against another required boss, Morgott, The Omen King,
Once you beat Morgott, rest at the new Site of Grace in their boss room. Melina will tell you that you can’t go through the door on the other side of the room. She’ll then give you the Rold Medallion and ask you to go to the Land of the Giants above the clouds before you can go through to the end of the game.

What to do after you beat Rennala?
The road to Leyndell – (Image credit: Bandai Namco) Assuming you want to follow the main story in Elden Ring, defeating Queen Rennala will put you somewhere between one-third and one-half of the way there, depending on how much other stuff you’ve explored along the way. But while the path to Rennala was fairly straightforward, finding the next area is a whole adventure in and of itself.
- The first thing you should do is revisit Roundtable Hold (check our Elden Ring tips if you need a refresher) and speak to Gideon Ofnir.
- He’ll tell you that your next objective should be Leyndell, the Royal Capital.
- He won’t tell you how to get there, naturally, but he’s right: Leyndell is where the game’s plot continues, and where you’ll face off against two more bosses who are vital to the story.
Leyndell lies on the far side of the Altus Plateau, a golden grassland that lies to the northeast of Raya Lucaria. Once you reach Altus, simply head east, and you’ll eventually find it. There’s only one way in, through the East Capital Rampart, and you’ll have to confront quite a few tough bosses in the overworld before you reach it.
My recommendation is to explore Altus thoroughly in order to level up and upgrade your weapon. There is only one problem, however: You can’t simply walk from Raya Lucaria to Altus. You can either fight your way through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice (recommended) or gather both halves of the Dectus Medallion (not recommended).
The Ruin-Strewn Precipice is the easier route of the two — “easier” being the operative word, and not “easy.” Head almost due north of Raya Lucaria, but stay in the water; don’t ride up onto dry land. You’ll eventually come into a narrow canyon that leads to the Ruin-Strewn Precipice Entrance.
Climb your way through the ruins and confront a tough boss at the end. You’ll emerge in Altus. The other option is to collect the two halves of the Dectus Medallion, which will let you access the Grand Lift of Dectus. You can find the left half of the medallion in Fort Haight: a small dungeon in the eastern part of Limgrave.
The enemies here are pretty simple, and there’s no boss to fight. The right half of the medallion, however, is located in Fort Faroth, a remote dungeon in western Caelid. Caelid is an incredibly tough area, and you probably haven’t explored it yet. This is not the ideal time to start, but if you insist, you can find out how further down on this page.

Where do I go after beating Rennala Elden Ring?
The steps after Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon – Rennala is one of the easier demigods to defeat, using magic attacks along with her own Spirit Ash summons. She’s also located in a central location in Liurnia of the Lakes, so it’s often that players will simply find their way to her doorway one way or the other.
If players defeated Godrick in Stormveil Castle and then managed to beat Rennala, then they can technically go into the Altus Plateau and access Leyndell, Royal Capital. This is the next step in the main story of Elden Ring, But players should be warned that Altus Plateau and Leyndell are both challenging locations, only fit for players of the right level.
Players who are trying to get through the main story as quickly as possible can simply beat Godrick and Rennala and then head into the capital. Any player who does this, though, will likely be under-leveled and thus have a difficult time getting past enemies as they progress.
As such, it’s recommended for players to explore Liurnia further after defeating Rennala. Liurnia is a large region that has a plethora of caves, dungeons, and other hidden secrets lying across its land. Rennala and the Academy of Raya Lucaria are just one small part of the region. Players can access the Four Belfries to the northwest, along with Carian Manor.
There are also some intriguing dungeons and other locations on the eastern side of the region. Speaking of, players can head to the Divine Tower of Liurnia to make full use of Rennala’s Great Rune after defeating her. This tower is located on the east side of Liurnia but requires players to advance Ranni’s questline to do so.
- Ranni is found in the northwest part of Liurnia and she sends players on one of the best quests in Elden Ring,
- If players don’t want to take on Ranni’s quest, they can also take part in Latenna’s, Rya’s, or Millicent’s quest, which are all started in Liurnia.
- For players looking to advance past Liurnia after defeating Rennala, going to visit Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy in Volcano Manor is a logical next step.
Volcano Manor is located in the far northwest part of Altus Plateau, so players will need to have advanced the main story to access this region. Volcano Manor and its preceding location of Mt. Gelmir are difficult locations, so players should be around level 65 to 80 if they want to have a chance of succeeding.
- Alternatively, players can also go visit General Starscourage Radahn in the region of Caelid if they haven’t already.
- Radahn isn’t a mandatory boss in Elden Ring, but defeating them does pave the way for players who are participating in Ranni’s questline.
- Radahn also opens the door for players to fully explore the underground regions of the Lands Between.
For players looking to get into the Altus Plateau through the Grand Lift of Rold, Caelid is a mandatory stop. Fort Faroth in the region holds the Dectus Medallion (Right), which is essential to accessing the lift and going into Altus Plateau. Finally, players can explore either the Ainsel or Siofra Rivers in Elden Ring after defeating Rennala.
These are underground locations that can be accessed fairly early on in the game. They take a good amount of time to get through and hold some wondrous sights, weapons, and challenging bosses and other enemies. From completing and progressing questlines to visiting new locations and advancing the main story of Elden Ring, there are a plethora of options available to players after they defeat Rennala.
It’s truly up to the player how they want to proceed. The one aspect to remember is that as players progress, their level needs to also increase if they want to keep up with their enemies. : What to do after beating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon in Elden Ring

Results of Defeat on World –
- Although Ranni the Witch defends Rennala in Phase 2, defeating this boss will not fail Ranni’s questline.
- Defeating this boss will give you the option to Rebirth your character in exchange for Larval Tears,
- The chest behind defeated Rennala can be opened with the Discarded Palace Key, completing Ranni’s Quest,
- Enia will become available in Roundtable Hold if Rennala is the first Great Rune boss the Tarnished has defeated.
Should I fight Rennala or Radahn first?
Shardbearer two – Assuming you continue following the path Elden Ring lays out for you, your next stop will be the Academy of Raya Lucaria, where the second Shardbearer lives: Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Again, Rennala does not have to be your second Shardbearer, but she’s the most likely candidate.
Rennala happens to be one of the easier boss fights in the game, so that works out for us. In order to get to Rennala, you’ll need to first beat the Red Wolf of Radagon in the Academy’s Debate Parlor. Once that’s down, your path towards Rennala will be clear, minus a fight with mini-boss Moongrum just below the Library where Rennala is.

Can you still do Rannis quest after killing Rennala?
Explore Liurnia of the Lakes – Before leaving Liurnia of the Lakes, players should perform a thorough exploration of the area, especially if it wasn’t explored before taking on Raya Lucaria itself. There are some things that really ought to be done before heading to the Altus Plateau, because later in the game these areas become laughably easy.
Complete Caria Manor, a Legacy Dungeon at the northwest corner of Liurnia. After working through the manor, players should continue west, enter Ranni’s Rise, and initiate Ranni’s questline in Elden Ring, Fans should also stop by Seluvis’s Rise, which is just southeast of Ranni’s, to start another questline. Complete several steps in Hyetta’s questline in Elden Ring, Continue Yura’s questline in Elden Ring, Visit the Rose Church to the south of Raya Lucaria Academy to continue Varre’s questline, Start Rya’s questline in Elden Ring by speaking with her just east of the Scenic Isle Site of Grace. Talk to Diallos in Academy Gate Town southeast of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Take a trip to the Village of the Albinaurics in the southwest corner of Liurnia and search for the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right). Complete the Lakeside Crystal Cave and start Latenna’s questline – just remember to not take the teleporter back to the entrance of the dungeon, as she is outside the boss room.
Should I beat Rennala?
Page 3 – Unfortunately, once you Rennala down to zero health in the first phase, it isn’t over. FromSoftware wouldn’t make this very important boss that easy now, would they? After the cutscene plays at the end of Phase 1, Phase 2 will then begin. At the beginning of Phase 2 you are no longer in her classroom with her students.
Instead, you are transported over some sort of body of water where you will finish out the battle. Perhaps the best thing that you can bring into the Phase 2 part of this fight is the Lone Wolf Spirit Ashes. The Lone Wolf Spirit Ashes spawns a pack of three wolves that will help you defeat Rennala. As the wolves are attacking Rennala, she will begin to fight back at them.
During this time, you can attack Rennala while she is dealing with the pack of wolves and do tons of damage in the process. If Rennala is focused on attacking you with her spells, then the wolves are doing damage while you can’t. Another reason why the Lone Wolf Spirit Ashes are really amazing for this fight is because anytime Rennala gets hit, it jolts her back and denies her of casting any of her spells.
Since there are three wolves that are being summoned with these Spirit Ashes, she will be getting hit a lot more often and thus won’t always have the chance to cast any of her spells. Stay as aggressive as you can during this fight and things will end well for you. It is probably the best type of Spirit Ashes you can use in a fight like this.
During the whole second phase, Rennala is going to be pelting you with tons of her spells. These are simple to dodge and that is all you have to do to counter her spells. Stay focused and patient and dodge these spells when you can and when you do, go in for a big attack.
Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon is also magic resistant. If you go into this fight with some sort of magic build, you can be in trouble. Instead of using a magic build, using a bleed build would be ten times better. Rennala is susceptible to Bleed so anything that is going to add that Bleed effect to any of your Armaments is going to help you out tons in this fight.
Flask of Crimson Tears is also going to be your best friend in this boss fight. It would probably be a great idea to because HP is going to be way more important than FP in this battle. At the end of the day, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon is definitely a boss that can be defeated consistently if you are correctly prepared for a boss fight like this.
Phase 1 is miles easier than Phase 2 and ultimately, all your preparing should be focused on the Phase 2 of this boss fight. There you have it. These are some of the best ways to prepare yourself for the Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon boss fight. A lot of good for your Elden Ring journey comes out of defeating Rennala.
Elden Ring has tons of bosses to defeat and Rennala is a walk in the park compared to some of the others that you will encounter. Also, defeating her will in the game. Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon is the main boss of the Academy of Raya Lucaria and quite difficult if don’t know what to expect.
