How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring?

God of War

Godfrey, First Elden Lord Location and Guide – Elden Ring Wiki Guide – IGN Godfrey, First Elden Lord, is the first major boss located within, and the final barrier to facing the final boss of the dungeon. Godfrey is located past the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace, in the tower at the top of the giant branches that are growing out of the ramparts. How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring Godfrey is a fairly classic humanoid boss. His moveset is made up of a variety of slow powerful axe swings, most of which are easily blocked with a 100% physical block shield, or simply rolled through before impact. He has almost no tricks save for a few deceptive combos, so of course we are going to adopt a similarly classic strategy to whup him.

First thing, avoid his leaping axe throw attack that he opens the battle with my rolling in as he executes the throw. Get control of the center of the room to get yourself some space. Our game plan here is to stand just out of his normal range in an attempt to bait out one of his long range overhead slams or jump attacks.

These are some of his most obvious swings and the most punishable, in particular the attack where he leaps into the air then jabs the ground with the point of his axe. If you see this attack be ready to punish with 2-3 attacks. When it comes to his weaker attacks you want to be more wary.

  • His quick axe swipes and horizontal slashes are usually followed up by another quick attack or a slightly delayed heavier slam.
  • I would not recommend trying to punish these unless you are using a very quick weapon.
  • It is better to just wait for a familiar attack than to try and punish during a combo just because you are antsy.

However the stomp, one of his more frequent attacks, does seem to be punishable if you can roll to his side and strike him from behind. How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring Because his combos are so delayed, you can even fit in a Guard Counter between most of his attacks. If you are feeling confident in your stamina and defense stand right in front of him and simply tank the swings (especially easy if you have the Barricade Shield ability) then Counter repeatedly until you get the stagger. How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring Godfrey doesn’t seem to have a second phase change, so simply follow the game plan and he will eventually fall to your combination of safe punishes and Guard Counters. He is very slow moving, so if you need a moment of rest you can simply roll back or run away to create some distance. Defeat him to get another and get access to the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace.

What level should I be for Godfrey Elden?

Phase 1 – Godfrey, First Elden Lord – How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring (Image credit: FromSoftware) Godfrey in Phase 1 acts like some hyper-powered version of the Golden Shade you fought the first time around, albeit with much larger, stronger variations of his attacks, not to mention some new moves (including a shockwave power you’ll quickly learn to hate). We’ll discuss some basics on how you can work through this first section here.

  • Players for this fight should aim to be around level 110 or up. You’ll also want weapons that are almost fully upgraded, +20 or more.
  • Like the first time around, Godfrey is vulnerable to Lightning and Thrusting damage, while Holy does very little to him. This won’t change when he hits Phase 2, thankfully.
  • If you’ve done Nepheli’s questline (which was filled out in a recent patch), she’ll be available as a summonable NPC outside the arena.
  • That being said, there’s an argument to be made that Godfrey might actually be a little easier to fight one-on-one (though it depends on your strengths as a player). When encountering multiple enemies, Godfrey’s AI seems to push him to use more AOE attacks – and these are generally very hard to dodge. Fighting him alone means he uses less of these and focuses on axe swings, which are much more manageable and easier to avoid.
  • In Phase 1, Godfrey is slow but powerful, and the impacts of his attacks are far-reaching. Shields can only stop the axe, and you’ll need to focus on well-timed rolling and evasion for everything else.
  • Like before, Godfrey’s stomps create short-range earthquakes ahead of him, but side-dodging these shouldn’t be too much trouble after practising with the Golden Shade.
  • If Godfrey slams his axe into the ground and creates a volcanic fissure across the ground, get off it! It’s about to explode for very high damage.
  • At about 75% health Godfrey will get a temporary white aura about him. This adds a shockwave effect to all his stomp attacks, or even when he lands after leaping across the arena. These shockwaves reach across the whole battlezone – they have unlimited range – and stagger those they hit, interrupting whatever they’re doing. You need to roll the moment you see one coming, as they’re deceptively fast, have very little wind-up, and Godfrey has a nasty habit of using them multiple times in rapid succession. While they don’t do massive damage, being hit by four in a row (not to mention having them interrupt your attempt to drink Flasks), can end a confused player horrifyingly quickly, or just drain their Flasks.

Bring Godfrey down to half health and a cinematic will trigger that begins Phase 2. Things are about to seriously change, as the former Lord takes a strange attitude of “less is more.”

Where can I get Godfrey Icon?

Where to Get the Godfrey Icon – The Godfrey Icon can be obtained by defeating Godefroy the Grafted, a boss fight located at the Golden Lineage Evergaol in the south part of the Altus Plateau below the Grand Lift of Dectus. The evergaol is locked by an imp seal that requires a Stonesword Key to unlock, and the fight is very similar to the Godrick the Grafted fight – without a second phase.

Where is the summoning pool for Godfrey?

Gearing up in Altus Plateau – First off, you want your healing Flasks to be as effective as possible at this point, so make sure to grab all the Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears you can find in Altus Plateau. Without venturing too far and encroaching onto Mt. Gelmir to the west, you can grab two Sacred Tears in Altus Plateau at the following locations:

  • Second Church of Marika, on the western edge (accessible from the north)
  • Stormcaller Church, near the Rampartside Path site of grace

  1. Beside the Erdtree Gazing Hill site of grace
  2. Roadside East of 1
  3. Inside the Capital wall past the two Tree Sentinels
  4. North of 3
  5. Near the road heading north from 4, outside the Capital wall
  6. Near the Minor Erdtree (watch out for the wormface enemies)

How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco via Polygon And within the capital city itself, you can find two more Golden Seeds:

  • The Ulcerated tree Spirit that spawns in the courtyard near the Avenue Balcony site of grace drops one
  • One is guarded by a group of envoys and a large gargoyle enemy on a balcony just outside the West Capital Rampart site of grace room (it’s hard to miss on your way to Godfrey fight)

With your flasks upgraded, you’ll want to grab the Arsenal Charm +1 from the Altus Tunnel dungeon, which you can see on your map — it’s a roundish discoloration just south of the Altus Plateau Minor Erdtree, In addition, if you somehow missed the extra Margit fight on your way to the Draconic Tree Sentinel, follow the road north/northeast from the Outer Wall Phantom Tree site of grace and fight the boss again for the Viridian Amber Medallion +1, How To Find Godfrey Elden Ring Get the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman +1 in the Sainted Hero’s Grave. Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco via Polygon However, the Brass Shield, Boltdrake Talisman, and defensive incantations you may have looted for the Draconic Tree Sentinel fight won’t be much use here.
