How does Elden Ring Co op multiplayer work?
How Elden Ring multiplayer differs from most games – Multiplayer in Elden Ring is built around the concept of summoning other players into your game world (or joining theirs) and taking on the Lands Between together. You use an item to place your “summon sign” down on the ground, and that sign will show up for other players.
- You can’t summon in an area where you’ve already defeated the boss (though you can still put your own sign down and help other players defeat it)
- In the open world, you can’t use your spectral steed while playing co-op
- When you find the entrance to a dungeon you want to explore, you can’t load into the new area; you’ll have to end the multiplayer session and start it up again once you enter
Multiplayer items are explained in more detail below. Once you get past the confusing names, it’s not too hard to understand how it all works. Even if you’re not sure about playing in multiplayer, I strongly encourage playing online, which is the default.
- This way you get to see messages from other players as well as their blood splatters, which give you a glimpse of how they died.
- That can be really helpful information, and it also just generally adds to the flavor of FromSoftware’s games.
- Even when the messages are stupid.
- To be clear, in Elden Ring, other players can’t invade you just because you’re “online.” You’ll only be invaded while you’re actively in a co-op session with another player.
This is part of what makes co-op exciting: you’re much more powerful with a friend in your game, but that power comes with some risk, too.

Why can’t I see player summon signs Elden Ring?
Why You Can’t See Other Players Summon Signs Elden Ring – summon signs Elden Ring? You are among a large group of Elden Ring players experiencing this challenge. You need to activate the Furlcalling Finger Remedy to see the summon signs. Failure to activate this multiplayer item will cause the summon signs to be invisible.
It’s important to remember that you must re-activate the Furlcalling Finger Remedy after dying or restarting the game to see the summon signs. The item takes only two Erdleaf Flowers to craft, making it easy to access the summoning item. There are other causes of not being able to see summon signs in Elden Ring apart from activating the Furlcalling Finger Remedy.
Another issue is the Elden Ring can’t see summon signs with passwords. The multiplayer password is another key item in the multiplayer option. However, the good thing is that you can easily fix this problem. Be it the user challenges or the technical glitches and bugs in the game.

Is Elden Ring worth coop?
‘Elden Ring’ True Co-Op Is Live And Works Better Than Anyone Thought Elden Ring FromSoftware A short while ago, I talked about how Elden Ring was getting multiplayer through a new “seamless co-op” mod by an expert creator. Now, as of this weekend, that mod has launched in beta, and if you were expecting some sort of disaster, given that this is fan-created, think again.
Teaming up in combat anywhere in the game. It persists through player death. You can both ride your own horses. Progression and item gain is shared. You can turn on friendly fire for extra chaos. You can spectate your co-op partner when you’re dead during a boss fight. You can vote for fast travel. You can have a max of four players in your party. Enemies will scale to be harder with more players.
Even though it’s in beta, it has 50,000 downloads already, and most are suggesting you don’t wait until it’s out of beta, because it works fantastically right now. Here are some endorsements from, and the mod also has its own : “It really is seamless, you can teleport anywhere together, ride torrent at the same time, progress and collect the same items.
- And you can also play with mods! This is amazing! “When I heard it was in beta I expected it to be one of those seamless co-op mods that are really broken and are indefinitely in a broken state, but almost everything seems to be working here.
- Serious props to the devs.” “Didn’t expect it to be SO well functioning in a beta version, but I’m shocked! It doesn’t feel like a mod, playing it feels like the game was released this way.
Serious props to the mod author!” It is hard to understand just how difficult this mod would be to make, and to make it well, used a closed source game like this, but it does work, and if you do want to play Elden Ring with your friends on PC, this is definitely the way to go.
Console players are out of luck without official mod support, and that does not seem likely to ever arrive. I do wonder if FromSoft will ever take notice at how well these mods are received and think about true co-op outside of boss summons and invasions in future games, but that does seem unlikely. But get in there and experience Elden Ring in a totally new way.

How do you get summons to appear in Elden’s ring?
How to summon in Elden Ring with Spirit Ashes – (Image credit: FromSoftware) To summon in Elden Ring via Ash Spirits – the most common way of doing it – players need to progress to the point where they’ve unlocked the horse, Torrent. If you haven’t done it yet, our guide on how to get the Elden Ring horse will sort you out.
- Once you do, head back to the Church of Elleh, the little ruin past the Tree Sentinel where Kalé the merchant is waiting.
- There’ll be a new NPC there now, a witchy-looking character called Renna.
- Talk to her, and she’ll give you the Spirit Calling Bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes.
- The Spirit Calling Bell doesn’t have to be equipped, it’s just enough to have it in your inventory.
However, if you use the Lone Wolf Ashes at any point, either through your inventory or by equipping them to the quick-select menu with your Flasks, you’ll summon three friendly wolves that will attack nearby enemies. As you explore the game, you’ll find other kinds of Spirit Ashes that can summon different NPCs.
- You can only summon Elden Ring Spirits with Ashes when close to a Rebirth Monument, a little square statue about waist-high. You’ll know when you’re in range of one, because of the white symbol of a tablet on the left side of the screen. Rebirth Monuments tend to be fairly common, covering most major areas and practically every boss fight arena.
- Using Spirit Ashes costs FP. The amount varies significantly depending on the Ash themselves, with more powerful NPCs requiring more FP. Some are so expensive that you won’t be able to summon them without significantly levelling up the Mind Attribute first.
- Elden Ring Spirits can be killed in combat! They’re no more immortal than you are, with the exception of Skeletal variants, who can self-resurrect if not damaged while downed.
- Players can only have one kind of Ash Spirit triggered at a time. If you have the Wolves running about, you won’t be able to bring out an Ash Spirit Sorcerer until they’re either dead or recalled.
Can you see players in Elden Ring?
An Elden Ring player trying to find a secret room suffered an embarrassing death but they weren’t alone as a white ghost also died in the same way. One Elden Ring player suffered an all-too-familiar fate, seeing the ” You Died ” text flash on their screen as the color washed away. Luckily for them, they can know that they were not alone in the blunder that sent them to Elden Ring ‘s afterlife. Death is a core part of Elden Ring, as players will often die hundreds or even thousands of times in their quest to become the Elden Lord.
- Players can receive aid from certain multiplayer features in the online world.
- Elden Ring players can leave messages for others to help (or in some cases, deceive) them to defeat an enemy or find a hidden reward.
- A player can also touch pools of blood on the ground, which will show how another player died at this location by summoning a red ghost to reenact their final moments of life.
Finally, Elden Ring players can see what other online players who are in that same area of the game are doing. These players appear in an Elden Ring world as white, ghostly figures, who can show a player what they are doing. This can be extremely helpful to players who are lost in the game world and are unsure what to do next.
Sometimes, it just provides a mirror to their own failures. This was shown by Reddit user ShinichiR, who posted a clip of them attempting to break through what appears to be a solid wall but which is, in reality, a passage to a hidden room. ShinichiR has to do so while riding up and down one of Elden Ring ‘s elevators, timing their strikes perfectly to open the passage while the elevator passes the spot.
As ShinchiR rides back up the elevator to get another swing, one of the game’s white ghosts appears, indicating that this other player is attempting the same strategy. The two stand in nearly the same spot, running forward to try and break through the spot in the wall.
Unfortunately for both ShinchiR and the mystery ghost player, the decision turns deadly as they both fall into a crack between the elevator and the wall, plummeting to their death at the exact same time and dying in the same exact position. Small details and fun interactions like this are what have made Elden Ring one of the most popular games in the world.
Elden Ring is full of new and interesting interactions to discover, hidden areas that players can happen upon, but also mistakes that can happen. It’s somewhat comforting for a player to know that they weren’t the only ones to die in an embarrassing way.
As players continue to explore Elden Ring ‘s world, more and more strategies to survive will be developed and shared by players. This can be in the form of the game’s messages or just social media postings. At least players can know that they weren’t the only ones to try something if they feel foolish when dying.
