Consumables – Consumables are generally the go-to items for countering most status afflictions, and there are a few consumables that cure Scarlet Rot outright. The first item that will be of great use to you is Speckled Hardtear, which can be added to the Flask of Wonderous Physick to cure any affliction as well as boost immunity.
The Speckled Hardtear is obtained by defeating the Wormface boss at the Altus Plateau Minor Erdtree, Preserving Boluses is another consumable that can cure Scarlet Rot and alleviate its buildup. This consumable might be a better alternative than the last, as they can easily be found along your travels.
The Armorer’s Cookbook can be found in the Siofra River West from the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace, The materials needed to craft Preserving Boluses are 2 Dewkissed Herba, a Crystal Cave Moss, and a Sacramental Bud, Soap can also be used against Scarlet Rot.

How do you get past Scarlet Rot in Haligtree?
Elphael Inner Wall – Go down the stairs near the Site of Grace and into the hallway below. Climb on top of the giant root to your left and you will see a chest guarded by a few Crystalians. Because battling them is a bit annoying I would recommend just running in, grabbing the Rotten Crystal Sword from the chest, then running back to the Site of Grace to reset the zone.
Go back into the hallway and go left this time. Go past the roots and make your way to the end of the hall where you will find a Hero’s Rune behind a giant goblet. Go back down the hall and climb up the giant root that is leading to the hole in the wall. This root will lead you outside to a cliffside that overlooks a rotten swamp (yes, another one).
Drop down to the ground below where you will immediately encounter a pest warrior. Make your way down the cliff toward the swamp, but keep an eye on your left where you will see another pest warrior standing in the rot guarding an item. You will probably be inflicted with Scarlet Rot while walking in the swamp to kill the pest and grab the Rot Grease,
Now you can make your way down to the giant swamp below. You are forced to walk at a slowed pace while in this swamp, and there are a number of pest warriors and smaller pest enemies lurking under the surface. Repeatedly rolling seems to be a little quicker than walking, but can make you susceptible to getting attacked.
Additionally, you will have to deal with the Scarlet Rot build up and damage, so you want to move as quickly as possible across the swamp. advertisement Thankfully there aren’t too many items in the area so you can mostly beeline for the other side. Stay close to the ledge on the right side and make your way across, then drop down onto the branch on the other side.
Make your way to the end of this branch then use it to reach the next one underneath. Make your way up the second branch and you will end up on the cliff on the other side of the swamp. If you are infected with Scarlet Rot you will want to immediately run into the open doorway on the wall ahead, drop down the ladder to the left, then run down there aqueduct where you will find the Drainage Channel Site of Grace.
Rest up and head back up to the cliffside so we can grab some more items, starting with the Golden Rune near the top of the ladder. Head out the door and immediately go up the hill on your right. Kill the pest warrior here, then look to the left where you will see a large branch that extends out to another platform across the gorge.
- This is a large circular-ish platform with raised ledges around the edges and a swamp in the middle.
- There is only one item on the platform, sitting in the middle of the rot.
- If you attempt to approach the item the ground will start shaking and a Scarlet Rot infected Tree Spirit will slither out to battle you.
Thankfully the swamp on this platform does not cause as much Scarlet Rot as the previous one and does not cause you to force walk, so it is very possible to battle the Tree Spirit while standing in it. But there is also a good amount of space around the edges where you can fight as well, if you would rather avoid the rot altogether (just don’t let the Spirit push you off the edge).
- Same strategies as always apply here.
- Stay under the Spirits mid-section, right around where its arms touch the ground.
- Eep an eye out for the Spirit’s heavily telegraphed slam and tail whip attacks, and be sure to dodge roll away when it tries to grab you in its mouth.
- At around half health the Spirit will start to glow and unleash an explosion, so be sure you step away before you get caught in it.
Defeat the Spirit to get a Golden Seed, and grab the rare item from in the swamp, a Great Grave Glovewort, With the Tree Spirit defeated we have done everything in this area. Warp back to the Drainage Channel Site of Grace and get ready to move forward.

Does fire cure Scarlet Rot?
Incantation “Flame, Cleanse Me” – Another option to cure Scarlet Rot is using the incantation “Flame, Cleanse Me”. This faith-based spell requires 12 Faith to cast, making it accessible at a relatively low level. The incantation requires a seal and 14 Focus Points to cast and can be found on one of the corpses in the Fire Monk Camp just southwest of the Eastern Tableland site of Grace in the Liurnia of the Lakes area, north of Limgrave.
- Image via FromSoftware Screenshot via Dot Esports Image via FromSoftware This incantation has a similar, if not the same, effect as preserving boluses.
- This means it can alleviate scarlet rot build-up and even cure it.
- However, it does not reduce the rate of accumulation.

Does Scarlet Rot work against Radahn?
Radahn Phase 1 – Unlike most fights, you can summon several NPC companions once the battle against Radahn begins. Also unlike most fights, Radahn can one-shot you with his homing gravity arrows. Keep your target lock on Radahn so you can see the arrows, then dodge once they get near.
- The debris doesn’t always stop the arrows from hitting you, so don’t count on them as foolproof cover.
- Make your way to the golden summoning signs as you go along, activating each when you get to it.
- You can summon Blaidd, Alexander the pot warrior, Okina, and at least three more.
- None of them last long, but they’re a good distraction to make approaching Radahn easier.
As you get closer, Radahn shoots a series of spears at you. These rain down in a straight line and follow you, so continue dodging them until the rain stops. If this attack is giving you trouble, you can continue dodging the gravity arrows until one of the NPC summons reaches Radahn.
Once you or an ally gets closer, Radahn starts charging around on his impossibly tiny, beleaguered horse and slashing at everything in his way, abandoning his ranged attacks. He’ll engage in one of several potential attacks, often with little warning. The most common seems to be a general slashing combo, where Radahn will use between one and four wild slashes and possibly end with a slam.
The main thing about Radahn and his other attacks is that they’ll take time to learn. Perhaps in keeping with his rot-addled frame of mind, Radahn’s timing is unpredictable at first. Aside from his dive attacks, which he telegraphs by bringing his swords in front of him, almost all of his attacks have odd, delayed timing.
His swing combo features multiple delays, for example. He hold the first swing for roughly three seconds, then slams his fist down immediately afterward, followed by a few more slashes with a second-long delay between each. Another attack to watch for in this phase is his gravity smash. Radahn plunges his swords into the ground and surrounds them with a purple gravity field.
He then pulls them out with huge pieces of stone attached, slams them down, and creates a massive gravity shockwave. The shockwave is potentially an instant kill attack. Radahn moves fast, but there are some key openings for melee builds to exploit. As with most large bosses, Radahn is vulnerable for a brief time at the end of a combo or major attack-enough for two, maybe three hits, before you need to retreat.
- Some players recommend using the Icerind Hatchet’s Frostbite skill or Hoarfrost Stomp to inflict damage and build Radahn’s Frostbite meter, though it does require good timing-and time you could spend rushing in to attack before retreating.
- Radahn is vulnerable to Frostbite and other status conditions, but especially Scarlet Rot.
Rot Pots and arrows tinged with Scarlet Rot are good options if you want to take advantage of status effects for this fight. These weaknesses remain even in phase two. Magic wielders should focus on spells with short casting times or with more defensive properties, such as Glintblade Phalanx.

What should I use against Scarlet Rot enemies?
1) Antspur Rapier – When infused with Bleed, Antspur Rapier can do a lot of damage in Elden Ring (Image via Kibbles/YouTube) This is probably one of the best weapons in the game to inflict Scarlet Rot on enemies. Apart from being a Thrusting Sword and boasting swift attack animation, the weapon can also be infused with ashes of war. This means that players can infuse it with the Bleed status effect. The combination of Bleed and Scarlet Rot is deadly, and very few bosses in the game have the tenacity to stand against the same. Location : Obtained from Maleigh Marais in Shaded Castle

Can Elden Beast Take Scarlet Rot damage?
Elden Beast tips and strategies – (Image credit: FromSoftware) The Elden Beast is an enemy with incredibly high health and strange, bizarre attack patterns that are hard to anticipate. It’s worth mentioning that practically all of this is Holy damage, and that anything you can do to negate Holy damage will drastically increase your survivability.
- For the best chance to beat the Elden Beast, your recommended level should be 120 and up, with weapons of +22 or higher. Keep in mind this is a “bare minimum” score, and it’s not going to be easy regardless.
- The Elden Beast is actually healed by Holy damage, so for god’s sake, don’t use it! It’s also fairly robust against Magic, Fire and Lightning damage, though not to the point where you should entirely respec to avoid these. Standard weapon damage will do the most against the Beast, so work with that.
- Speaking of which, the cracked, glowing area on the Beast’s belly is a weakness that takes extra damage from all attacks. It’s not a huge difference and it’ll put you right in the danger zone, but it’s worth keeping in mind should the opportunity arise.
- It’s also, unfortunately, entirely immune to just about every status effect, including Bleed, Frostbite, Scarlet Rot, Poison and all the others. Don’t bother trying to apply these, they’ll never work.
- You’ll start off in the arena some distance away from the Elden Beast – use this chance to heal, buff or summon before getting into the fight properly.
- The Elden Beast isn’t just a tank with a ton of health, it’s also quite hard to get to. It leaps and flies through the air, “swims” through the ground, and can rapidly reposition itself to the entire opposite end of the battlefield in an instant. You’ll spend much of this boss fight just trying to catch the damn thing, even if you’re a ranged spellcaster. Summons can help to distract it or pin it down, but there’s no real way around the fact that much of this is a chase.
- Speaking of which, if you’re sprinting towards it – and you will be – make sure you have some Stamina ready by the time you reach it. There’s no point making a mad dash across the arena, only to be too tired to attack or evade when you get close.
- For offensive strategy, spells with a wide AOE are always a good option, as the Elden Beast is a giant target (if you can get it to stop moving). Spells that fire multiple projectiles are even better, as something this big will get hit by most of them, if not all.
- At 50% health or less, some of the Elden Beast’s attacks become a little more elaborate, usually by combining multiple attacks in some way. It’s not distinct enough to be a proper Phase 2, but it’ll be worth being on your guard once you’re past this threshold.
- The Elden Beast can have its poise broken, but good luck – it’ll take a while to do and you’ll need to work on it constantly,
What level should I be for Haligtree?
6 Have At Least 50 Vigor – The recommended level for the Haligtree is around 120 to 150, Higher is better, of course, but regardless of the level, players will do well to have 60 Vigor. That’s almost mandatory in this area not just for the regular enemies but also for the final boss in the Haligtree.60 Vigor measures up to around 1700 HP which is enough for players to not die in one or two hits against the heavy hitters of the Haligtree.

Can you help the Scarlet Rot girl?
Elden Ring Millicent quest walkthrough – The first thing you need to do is find Gowry, a frail old man sitting on his own in an isolated shack in eastern Caelid. Speak to him, and he will tell you about Millicent and her case of Scarlet Rot. To cure her, you need to find a gold needle somewhere in Caelid.
- The Unalloyed Gold Needle is held by Commander O’Neil, who can be found in the Swamp of Aeonia.
- Hand the gold needle to Gowry, and he’ll give you a scrap of paper called Sellia’s Secret.
- This paper reveals there are three torches waiting to be lit in Sellia, Town of Sorcery.
- The easiest way is to reach the Golden Tree and climb the closest tree branch to make your way up the buildings.
Remember, you can ride Torrent while in Sellia to make this journey significantly easier. Once the torches have been lit, the barrier stopping you from reaching the Church of the Plague will disappear. Return to Gowry, and he’ll give you the repaired needle back – head to the Church of the Plague to find Millicent lying on the floor in pain.
Give Millicent the gold needle and speak to her multiple times until she rewards you with the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom. Millicent travels to Gowry’s shack to thank him for everything he has done, but he won’t be around while she visits. Speak with her again, and Millicent will move onto the Altus Plateau, not too far from the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace.
Have another chat with her to find out what she plans to do, then you need to head to The Shaded Castle – it’s located in the only green area towards the northernmost region of Altus Plateau. Go through the castle until you find the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis – give this key item to Millicent to access the part of the quest. Next up, travel to the Dominula, Windmill Village. The fastest way to get here is to use the portal near the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge Site of Grace in Altus Plateau. Make your way up the hill until you reach the Godskin Apostle at the top, then defeat this boss to acquire the Godskin Peeler.
- Reload into the area to find Millicent in the same location as the boss – speak with her, and she’ll move to a different location.
- Go to the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace to find Millicent again and exhaust her dialogue options until she heads to her final location: the Prayer Room in Elphael Brace of the Haligtree.
Head through the dungeon and make sure you defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. Once the boss has been defeated, reload into the area, and you should find two summon signs on the ground. You need to think carefully about which summon sign you pick, as this determines which items you receive.
- By assisting Millicent, you will receive the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
- The needle is very important as it gives you access to a different Elden Ring ending if you use it later on, but this ending won’t strengthen your build.
- If you assist Millicent’s Sisters, you will earn Millicent’s Prosthesis.
Before patch 1.03, players could obtain all the quest items by helping Millicent and killing her after assisting in the fight. You could bring her back to life by performing an Absolution at the Church of Vows, but this is no longer possible unless you haven’t updated your game yet.
The only way to obtain both items now is to complete the quest again in New Game Plus. That’s everything you need to complete Millicent’s questline in Elden Ring. Getting through this entire quest can be difficult, so we recommend stocking up on either the best Elden Ring weapons for melee builds or the best Elden Ring staffs if you play a magic build.
If not, we have a list of the best Elden Ring weapon arts for those who prefer to smash their enemies to pieces. Finally, use our best Elden Ring summons guide to find where to acquire powerful spirit ashes.

Is Fire giant immune to Scarlet Rot?
Preparing for the Fire Giant fight – At this stage of the game, you likely have access to almost every area, and your equipment for this fight should reflect that. Must-haves are the Flamedrake Talisman +2, plundered from the Dragonbarrow Cave in eastern Caelid, and the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman +1, found behind a stonesword key gate in the Sainted Hero’s Grave in Altus Plateau.
Fire Giant hits hard, but increasing your fire and physical defenses with these talismans can take the edge off. Fire Giant is susceptible to both scarlet rot and poison, If you can manage to stack these two effects, you’ll be able to tick away his health while focusing on staying alive. Faith casters can use the Rotten Breath and Poison Mist incantations, which can be purchased at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion and looted from a scarab southeast of the Castle Morne Rampart site of grace, respectively.
Alternatively, characters of any build can apply these damaging statuses using good old-fashioned throwing pots. The recipe for Poison Pots is in Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook, found in the Smoldering Church, Rot Pots, meanwhile, can be crafted with Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook, located in the Lake of Rot ; if you haven’t been there yet, check, as it’s a bit of a trek.
In addition, bleed works just fine on Fire Giant, so the Rivers of Blood katana that you almost certainly looted from Bloody Finger Okina when he invaded you at the nearby Church of Repose is a great choice here. Lastly, Fire Giant’s wiki entry has some solid suggestions, including the Swarm of Flies incantation for inflicting blood loss, and the Antspur Rapier for applying scarlet rot.
The former can be found in a cave north of the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace underground in Mohgwyn Palace, while the latter must be won from Maleigh Marais, a hostile NPC found west of Shaded Castle, Don’t use Frost, as Fire Giant’s massive resistance to cold damage makes it all but useless.

What to do with Scarlet Rot girl?
Millicent’s location at Church of Plague – Millicent can be found at Church of Plague, a church just east of Gowry’s Shack, although it’s located quite high up from where you are in Caelid. One route is to follow a road from the northeast of Sellia, which will take you up to higher ground.
At Church of Plague, you’ll find a Site of Grace, a Sacred Tear, while you’ll see Millicent slunk in the corner of the church ruins. Talk to her and give her the needle. She’ll be hesitant but if you go rest at the Site of Grace and return you’ll next see her standing up, seemingly cured of her scarlet rot.
That’s not all though, as her journey has just barely begun. Once you’ve exhausted her dialogue at the church, return to Gowry’s Shack. You’ll find Millicent here but Gowry has disappeared. Exhaust her dialogue here and continue with the campaign until you come to Altus Plateau.

You can get 15 near the Church of the Plague in Caelid, 11 around Writheblood Ruins in Altus Plateau, and a bunch in Mt. Gelmir.Dewkissed Herba – There are loads of these down in the Siofra River. Keep an eye out while you’re going for the Armorer’s Cookbook, and you’ll get a few.
