How long does it take to 100% complete God of War?
How long is God of War Ragnarok? – (Image credit: Sony) God of War Ragnarok’s length will vary from player to player and completely depends on how much you want to do. The open nature of the story, levels and activities mean it varies wildly depending on what you want to do. We’ve broken it down as follows depending on how much you could take on:
- If you power through just the main story, God of War Ragnarok will take 25-30 hours
- Completing the main story while dabbling in some Favors and more along the way takes about 30-35 hours
- 100% completion runs will take around 55-60 hours+
Ragnarok is a pretty broad game, hence the range of completion times. Anyone who just follows the story alone is arguably going to experience less than half of what the game has to offer. If you’re going to try and open all of the God of War Ragnarok Nornir Chests or find the set of God of War Ragnarok Ravens for example, expect to be playing a while.
- It’s also true to say that much of the game opens up post-story.
- Without spoiling, not only is the game still playable after the God of War Ragnarok ending, but there’s a wealth of new content, areas, side quests and challenges for players to engage with.
- Much of the 30 or so hours that add to the content after the story will very much be accessible then – after the story.

How many hours is God of War?
How many hours is God of War Ragnarök? – It should take you over 20 hours to finish the story in God of War Ragnarök. That’s the time it should take you if you focus on and steamroll your way through the story, ignoring side quests and not pausing to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of Kratos’ latest adventure.
According to How Long To Beat, focussing on just the story takes players an average of 21.5 hours to complete. As stated above, this is if you focus solely on the story and don’t take your time to absorb everything. By entering your details, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and privacy policy,
You can unsubscribe at any time. If you are one to take your time, however, and complete a few side quests on the way toward finishing the story, it should take you around 25.5 hours to beat Ragnarök. Those looking to 100 per cent complete the game and earn its Platinum trophy, meanwhile, are looking at a staggering 53.5 hours to do it all.
The above times are based on player averages filled in on How Long To Beat. You may find that the time it takes you to complete the game varies wildly from someone else’s play-through. It’s not one to complete in a weekend, at least. Sony and Santa Monica Studio have crafted quite a hefty action game. It’s comparative in length to the 2018 God of War, but it is certainly bigger, taking on average at least an hour or two more to complete than the previous game.
God of War Ragnarök is the longest game in the series to date and a bit of a beast.

Is God of War Fun?
God of War – The original God of War is a classic of the PS2 era and is responsible for a lot of the series’ success and future as a viable franchise on PlayStation consoles. Like its successors, God of War delivered the ultimate power fantasy backed up with a genuinely engaging tragedy for a story.
- It interprets and twists Greek mythology in a way that feels familiar, yet unique, and is a must-play for anyone trying to get into the series for the first time.
- In spite of that, the original God of War still has plenty of faults.
- While it is still an incredibly fun and rewarding experience, it isn’t quite as refined as later games in the series.
Major sections, especially toward the end of the game, were not as thoroughly tested as other parts of the game. As a result, players often find them incredibly frustrating. For that reason, even an awesome game like God of War falls short of the majority of the games that followed it.

What is the hardest mode in God of War?
God Mode is the hardest difficulty setting in God of War, Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök, as well as the second hardest setting in God of War II, and the normal difficulty in God of War III, In Chains of Olympus, God of War and Ghost of Sparta, the player unlocks it by beating the game on one of three easier difficulty settings.
Subsequently, beating the game in God Mode usually unlocks various features and rewards. God Mode differs in God of War and Chains of Olympus. In God of War, the value of the Orbs remains, but costumes cannot be used. In Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, it shares similarities to God of War II’s Titan Mode, in which Orbs are worth only half as much.
The God Mode appeared again in God of War (2018), This variation of God Mode has its own save with a bloody red border instead of the usual gray, and a disclaimer warning the player that they can’t change the difficulty after selecting it. The mode is far more difficult as enemies will be replaced by tougher and far greater enemies by the start, and if left alone for too long they will be able to change levels and become stronger to face.

Is God of War Ragnarok bigger than God of War?
Story – After the death of his wife, Faye, Kratos must take her ashes to the highest peak of all the realms whilst raising their son, Atreus. Kratos is a distant father with a past that makes him hate all gods, himself included. God of War (2018) is the story of a father and son, and it’s nothing short of beautiful, a true tale to marvel at when one considers how far Kratos has come.
The story of God of War: Ragnarok continues with the mature themes presented in God of War (2018). Kratos is slowly accepting who he was, but his frustration grows as Atreus continues to try and discover who Loki is, whilst Kratos tries to alter fate against a coming war with Odin and the Aesir. God of War: Ragnarok is bigger, with the narrative shared more equally between Kratos and Atreus.
However, God of War (2018) has a superior story. It is intimate and hard-hitting it is as a return to Kratos and his evolution.

What happens when you 100 complete God of War?
100% completion in God of War Ragnarok: What does it get you? – In short, hitting 100% completion across every realm in God of War Ragnarok doesn’t come with its own bonus reward, As far as we could tell from our own playthrough, no additional content opens up, no equipment is unlocked, there’s no Trophy, and there’s no post-credits scene exclusively available to those who do everything. Sony Hitting 100% completion across all realms is an achievement in itself, but don’t expect any bonus rewards just for getting there. From valuable resources to the most powerful weapon upgrades and armor pieces on offer, completing as much of Ragnarok as possible is your key to the absolute best builds.
So it’s definitely still worth the effort in reaching that ultimate goal of 100% completion. Perhaps down the line, with the addition of New Game Plus, we might have more of an incentive to thoroughly clear out the entire game. Given the original game saw new rarities, upgrades, and full armor sets added through this mode, there’s every chance the same happens here in the sequel.
