How do you get to the bottom of subterranean shunning?
How to Get to the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds – The Subterranean Shunning-Grounds is a high level optional area located below the Legacy Dungeon itself of Lenydell, Royal Capital. Though you can access it at any time when exploring the capital, you may find the enemies within much tougher than those above ground, so for this reason we recommend that you hold off on exploring it until you have completed the Royal Capital, and possibly even completed the Giant’s Forge if you are still having trouble with the enemies in these sewers.
It’s highly recommended that you have a weapon with +22 or a special weapon at +9 to be able to deal enough damage. If you decide to come back to this area after getting to the Giant’s Forge, you’ll find that a large gold sewer grate along the capital city’s main avenue has been removed, allowing you to drop directly into the underground area.
To reach the sewers beneath Leyndell earlier, head to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace in the middle of the capital just off the main road that runs through it. Go down the stairs to the lower northern ruined part of the city and stick to the left side as you advance to take out the three Leyndell Knights.
- Once they’ve been dealt with, look over the balcony to the left off in the northwest side of the ruined city streets.
- Among the rubble you should be able to spot a lone well in the shadow of the large dragon wing, guarded by the fast-crawling enemies seen in the Volcano Manor.
- Head down into the well using the ladder.
Once down in the well, you may want to activate a Lantern if you have one to help with visibility. Loot the body holding a Rune Arc and open the gate to the left. Keep heading down the corridors and down the ladders and stairs until you reach a long tunnel full of Giant Rats, and be ready to block or dodge their lunging attacks, though most won’t attack too quickly.

You can follow this ledge by jumping up to another one and then there will be a doorway to go through which leads you back into the large room again. Jump down onto the pipe and drop into the pipe itself through the hole. Follow it forward until you make a left, and then make another left immediately.
- Eep following the pipe and then drop down through a hole after you take a right.
- Move forward and you’ll come to a ladder that leads into a room with some pot enemies.
- Ignore them and walk toward a metal elevator that will take you down.
- There will be a Lost Grace in front of you, and you just need to follow the path ahead until you get to the boss fight with Mohg, the Omen.
Once he is defeated, at the very back of the room is an altar surrounded by candles. Hit this, and a secret path will be revealed. You’ll need to descend through the catacombs by jumping onto the wooden beams and the platforms sticking out of the walls.

How do you open the door in Leyndell catacombs?
Home Strategy Guides Elden Ring: How To Open The Door In Leyndell Catacombs (Lord Of Blood’s Exultation Talisman)
For Elden Ring fans looking to navigate one of the more tricky mazes, here is how to open the Leyndell Catacomb doors. One of the many joys Elden Ring fans have with the game is all the different play styles available to use. One of the more popular builds, especially with Elden Ring PvP, is the Blood Loss Build. This specializes in using specific equipment that gives enemies the Bleed status, dealing extra damage over time.
For any gamer who wants to build the perfect Blood Loss build in Elden Ring, they will want to make sure they get Lord Of Blood’s Exultation Talisman. This accessory piece can be found in the Leyndell Catacombs after navigating through the sewers of Leyndell. Getting to Leyndell is already a tricky mess navigating through the underground.
Sadly, gamers will have to go through another confusing maze to get the main boss door in Leyndell Catacombs open. So for Elden Ring fans who need help getting their hands on this critical talisman, here is how to open the door inside Leyndell Catacombs. Once gamers reach the Catacombs site of grace through Leyndell Royal Capital, head directly down the stairs in front of the checkpoint. Then, make a left down the long hallway and go up the next set of stairs on the other side of the room with the coffin.
Keep going straight and be wary of the firetrap at the end of the hallway on the right. After disarming it, make another right on the next hallway and go up the stairs. There should be two sets of stairs in this room with a massive statue in the middle. Walk up the staircase on the right and go into the next room; just be careful of the ogre enemy.
Drop to the bottom floor and go through the staircase on the southeastern side in the next room. Go up the stairs, make another right, and go to the end of the hall with the deactivated Elden Ring fire trap, Hit the trap once and jump on top to be brought to the next doorway.
- This should bring gamers to a large chapel-looking room.
- Take the first right into the long hallway and continue along the path.
- There should eventually be a drop-off point with a long ladder leading into a new open room.
- Here, gamers can find the switch to open the Leyndell Catacomb doors on the right-hand side.
Once the doors are open, jump down to the bottom floor and head through the hallway facing northwest from the coffin to be brought back to the doors in the beginning. Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. MORE: Complete Guide To Elden Ring: Weapons, Items, Tips, Tricks, Bosses, & Builds

How do I get to sewer gaol from underground roadside?
The Dung Eater is a filthy corrupting character that will appear in one of the rear rooms of Roundtable Hold. He’s not friendly and will threaten you as soon as you meet him. He’s eager to kill you, and given half the chance, he will. Luckily the Roundtable Hold prevents violence, and as a Tarnished you will keep coming back time and time again.
The Dung Eater resembles a heavily corrupted Solaire from the original Dark Souls and could stand as a reference to the corruption Solaire suffered over the course of that game as he turned hollow. Once you’ve visited Leyndell and the Sewers there, the Dung Eater will gift you with a Capital Sewer Gaol Key.
He promises to kill you if you set him free, so that’s nice. Follow our instructions below to find where to use the Capital Sewer Gaol Key and free the Dung Eater. The Capital’s Sewer is a tough area, so you should’ve already cleared through most of Leyndell. Even with that experience, it won’t be simple. Starting from the Lower Capital Church, we’ve going to find the Underground Roadside Site of Grace first. Exiting the Lower Capital Church, run to the right and jump over the balcony down into the sewer below.
Jump into the next room, and take the ladder on the back left wall. Once you emerge, you’ll be near the main road again. Turn around and run down the flight of stairs. Go to the other side of the hole you just crawled out of, and then turn left. You will want to hop up the hill and over the rooftops here to find a new area – beware of the enemies lying in wait.
Move to the left and you’ll find a well in the corner of this area. The rear of the well has a ladder that you can use to descend. Once down, turn left through the gate here, and down another ladder. Now we’re in the real sewer area.
Run to the end of the tunnel, turn right, and run to the end here too to enter the Subterranean-Shunning Grounds. Take the stairs down on the right, and you can just run through this room full of giant rats.
O nce out the other side, take the ladder of the left. Beware: there are many strong enemies here. Once down the ladder turn around, run straight, and you’ll find a Site of Grace on the left side of the room, this is the Underground Roadside Site of Grace.
Exit this room and run down the road to the left, and drop straight into the hole you’ll find on the left side of the road – the stronger enemies shouldn’t follow you.
Continue down the long tunnel and you will find a room with many poison flowers. Again, you can run straight past them to climb a ladder at the end of the tunnel.
In this next room there are a bunch of those hand monsters – several small ones, and at least one large one hiding in the center of the room. If you intend to fight the Dung Eater, you should clear this room out first, otherwise it’ll be a very awkward battle.
The gate at the end of the room is where the Dung Eater is, and you’ll hear him screaming and moaning as he bashes his head against the wall. You can open up the gate with the Capital Sewer Gaol Key, and then talk to the Dung Eater. He basically makes it clear that you’ll regret freeing him.
Now that you’re through with that tough battle, make sure to beat the bosses of Leydell, Godfrey and Morgott, If you need more Elden Ring tips and whatnot, check out our full Elden Ring guide and walkthrough, Written by Dave Aubrey on behalf of GLHF,

- It’s especially rewarding for Elden Ring secret hunters — we know the Deeproot Depths have to be located directly beneath the Erdtree, but this is the only method where we can reach the roots from the surface in one uninterrupted path,
- All other methods involve teleportation.
- The Deeproot Depths really are right below the Erdtree on the map.
That just goes to show how dedicated From Software are to their world design. It’s even more shocking that anybody found this passage at all.
