- Elden Ring
(Image credit: FromSoftware) The Elden Ring Meteorite Staff is one of the best weapons (opens in new tab) to grab early on in the Lands Between if you’re looking to cast sorceries. Not only does this staff boast extremely high intelligence-scaling that’s perfect for any sorcerer, but it also boosts gravity spells, which are great for staggering foes, and bringing flying enemies down to the ground.
Sadly, the staff can’t be upgraded, making it a tool that’s great for the early game, but that drops off before long in terms of damage potential. Still, it’s got a low-ish intelligence requirement and is perfect if you’re just starting to experiment with what Elden Ring spells (opens in new tab) have to offer.
The Meteorite Staff is also available right from the start of the game, though you’ll have to get Torrent and make a run through the hostile wilds of Caelid to the Swamp of Aeonia. So, if gravity sorcery sounds like fun, or if you just want that high intelligence scaling spell damage, read on.

How do you get more damage with Meteorite Staff?
The Rock Sling spell is right nearby – Don’t leave Aeonia Swamp quite yet! The Meteorite Staff has a passive ability of improving Gravity Spells, which are pretty tough to find. But there’s one very close to where you found the staff. From the Meteorite Staff tower, head north about 100 feet. You should see the remainder of what looks like a church. Here’s what it looks like from the front: The Rock Sling spell is in this cutch-like building Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco via Polygon Inside you’ll find some steps leading down, with a chest inside. There you’ll find this spell: Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco via Polygon Rock Sling is one of the best spells we’ve found in Elden Ring. It has insane range and deals physical damage, which most spells don’t. Better still, it’s boosted by your Meteorite Staff. Everybody wins. Alright, now that you have the good stuff, head back home and don’t come back here until you’re actually leveled for it.

How long should I use the Meteorite Staff?
Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. Last edited by Kerrack ; 16 Mar, 2022 @ 8:55pm If you upgrade a staff in the background, then the moment it has higher spell scaling, you dump the Meteor staff forever. I think a typical staff at around 50% upgrade will start to outclass it Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. I feel like my magic damage is lacking but my int is 60. I’m level 115 Once you can upgrade some staffs to +7, they are better than the meteor staff. Other staffs end up with S scaling and much higher damage. Meteor staff is really good for a while though. Yeah nah, other staves outclass it when they get to +7, stat scaling isn’t everything, Sorcery Scaling is much more relevant in the end. Depends how relient you are on gravity spells. I stopped using it once I had enough int to use raya’s staff at max level. Its hands down the best staff until wayyy end game. Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. no. I’ve been using Rennala’s staff and not only is it’s spell scaling higher, it has higher scaling (still S, but shown Blue in comparision). Originally posted by smythny : Once you can upgrade some staffs to +7, they are better than the meteor staff. Other staffs end up with S scaling and much higher damage. Meteor staff is really good for a while though. Huh. I could’a sworn they still ended up with worse scaling than the MS. Good to know. at 60 int you should upgrade the carion royal stave, it gets up to s scaling at about level 5 i think Originally posted by colyay : It’s S tier in int scaling but it can’t be upgraded. Is it better to just go with a different upgraded staff? lusat staff get S scaling too and will be way better than the meteorite staff at the end but it make every spell cost 50% more the prince of death staff scale with both faith and int and at 70/70 max upgrade will be the best staff in the game also soft cap for damage scaling is around 80, so as a mage unless you want a fix lv for pvp or stuff like that go all the way up 99 int for damage Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. That is incorrect. The best staffs in the game are Azur’s Carian Regal Scepter and Lusat’s Meteorite staff is better then all staffs till around +7 for unique staffs and +17-18 for normal staffs Last edited by dustin1280 ; 16 Mar, 2022 @ 9:02pm Originally posted by Lesmir : Originally posted by colyay : It’s S tier in int scaling but it can’t be upgraded. It’s like Drake Sword on steroids Makes every other staff feel useless for like 75% of the game. Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. Can’t wait till I need to go get those when I reach that point.

What attributes do you need for Meteorite Staff?
Follow these instructions to find the Meteorite Staff early. Skip below if you have already been exploring the Caelid region. First we need to travel to the Dragon-Burnt Ruins, This is directly East of your starting location, The First Step Site of Grace. Although you could attempt to get this staff immediately as you start the game, you should at least make sure to get your mount, Torrent. Once in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins, looks for an underground path. Watch for rats in the next room. Open the door at the back and use the chest. It will transport you to a dungeon – a tough one, especially if you’re not a high level – Sellia Crystal Tunnel, Leave the hut you spawn in and immediately turn left, left again down the hill, and straight toward the tunnel ahead to find the exit. Run, because enemies here have ranged attacks. Once outside, mount Torrent and head Southwest, following the bank of the Swamp of Aeonia, and head West towards the Street of Sages Ruins, Skip here if you’ve explored the Caelid region and found Street of Sages Ruins in Swamp of Aeonia already. Head to the Southwestern corner of the Street of Sages Ruins, near the Inner Aeonia Site of Grace, and you’ll find a small tower as part of the ruins, with four poisonous flowers inside. Defeat them and you will find an item hanging on a corpse behind them. This is the Meteorite Staff, As a bonus, you can find the Rock Sling spell in an underground tunnel in the Street of Sages Ruins, which is a gravity sorcery. Gravity sorceries are boosted by the Meteorite Staff, making Rock Sling a very strong attack. The Meteorite Staff requires 6 STR and 18 INT, which are fairly achievable stats early in the game. It only has D-rank STR scaling, but you don’t need that, because it has S-rank INT scaling. This means your gravity sorceries especially will be incredibly powerful as long as you keep investing skills points in INT. If you’re going for a high-INT build, this staff will have the best scaling you can find for a very long time. The only other staffs with similar scaling will require a lot of upgrading to make them powerful enough to be competitive with the Meteorite Staff.

What is the most you can upgrade a weapon in Elden Ring?
Smithing Stones – Elden Ring weapon upgrades require a sufficient number of Smithing Stones which are rare, valuable minerals used by blacksmiths to empower your gear. You can find nine different tiers of Smithing Stones throughout the Lands Between, and the max upgrade limit you can reach with them is +25, Image credit: eldenring.fandom.com | Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone (reinforces weapons up to +25) Here is a table of all Smithing Stone tiers and their upgrade levels :
|Smithing Stone Tier||Upgrade Level|
|Smithing Stone (1)||Reinforces weapons to +3|
|Smithing Stone (2)||Reinforces weapons to +6|
|Smithing Stone (3)||Reinforces weapons to +9|
|Smithing Stone (4)||Reinforces weapons to +12|
|Smithing Stone (5)||Reinforces weapons to +15|
|Smithing Stone (6)||Reinforces weapons to +18|
|Smithing Stone (7)||Reinforces weapons to +21|
|Smithing Stone (8)||Reinforces weapons to +24|
|Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone||Reinforces weapons to +25|
Smithing Stones can be found almost anywhere in the Lands Between, but tunnels are the best place to look for them. Early in the game, you can find Smithing Stone (1) at the smithing table at Church of Elleh — the one that can help you upgrade your weapon up to +3.
- From there, you can find Smithing Stones in different game areas, including Limgrave, Stormhill, and Stormveil Castle, as well as in late-game areas, such as the Sealed Tunnel and Zamor Ruins,
- Smithing Stones can also be purchased by offering items called Bell Bearings to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold,
By doing this, you’ll be able to buy all the Smithing Stones you want, except for Ancient Dragon Stones. You’ll want to stack up on Smithing materials if you opt to go for a Power stance, since you’ll need double the materials to upgrade both of your weapons.

Can you upgrade the Carian Regal Scepter?
Elden Ring Carian Regal Scepter Notes & Tips –
Weapon Skill : Spinning Weapon This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War, nor enchanted with Magic, Carian Regal Scepter can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones, Boosts Full Moon sorceries by 10% which includes Rennala’s Full Moon and Ranni’s Dark Moon, The Spinning Weapon skill on the Carian Regal Scepter appears to differ from other applications of the standard Spinning Weapon Ash of War in that it is projected more forward with spiraling blue particles behind. Deals magic damage that scales based on INT or sorcery scaling unlike the ash of war you can infuse on other staves. Affected by Magic Scorpion Charm. +10 gives Sorcery Scaling of 373 at 80 INT, The second-most powerful staff, and the most powerful non-fp-cost-increasing staff, for players with 69 intelligence or above.
Lusat’s Glintstone Staff always outdamages it, but increases fp costs by 50%. Academy Glintstone Staff out-damages it from 60-68 intelligence.
Sell Value: 100 With 60 INT it starts being better than the Meteorite Staff at +7. Useful if you want to skip upgrading the Academy Glintstone staff and go from Meteorite to Regal directly. Other notes and player tips go here.
Can Azur Glintstone staff be upgraded?
How To Get Azur’s Glintstone Staff – Azur’s Glintstone Staff can be found in Raya Lucaria, but getting to it is a more complicated matter than looking off the side of the path. The Academy of Raya Lucaria is chock-full of secret passageways and hidden items – the area almost doubles in size when one considers the rooftops are explorable too.
To get to Azur’s Glintstone Staff, start from the Red Wolf of Radagon boss room and head all the way to the courtyard where Moongrum, Carian Knight is fought. Instead of taking the elevator up, take the path left through the covered bridge. Open the shortcut door, then look over the railing. You should see a stairway just below this shortcut door – jump down to it, defeat the sorcerer patrolling the stairs, then open another shortcut door at the bottom of the stairs.
Turn around and head back up the stairs, turn left, and jump over the railing onto the rooftops. Continue through this area until you reach the roof of the Church of the Cuckoo (check the map to see your location). Look for a broken window to enter the upper floors of the Church of the Cuckoo, and carefully drop down the wooden railings to reach a room full of sorcerers.
Defeat these enemies and look for a stone bridge leading to a room with what appears to be a large mass of Raya Lucaria sorcerer heads. The purple item resting in the crystals at the bottom of this abomination, called a Graven School, is Azur’s Glintstone Staff. Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
