(Image credit: FromSoftware) The Elden Ring Meteorite Staff is one of the best weapons (opens in new tab) to grab early on in the Lands Between if you’re looking to cast sorceries. Not only does this staff boast extremely high intelligence-scaling that’s perfect for any sorcerer, but it also boosts gravity spells, which are great for staggering foes, and bringing flying enemies down to the ground.

Sadly, the staff can’t be upgraded, making it a tool that’s great for the early game, but that drops off before long in terms of damage potential. Still, it’s got a low-ish intelligence requirement and is perfect if you’re just starting to experiment with what Elden Ring spells (opens in new tab) have to offer.

The Meteorite Staff is also available right from the start of the game, though you’ll have to get Torrent and make a run through the hostile wilds of Caelid to the Swamp of Aeonia. So, if gravity sorcery sounds like fun, or if you just want that high intelligence scaling spell damage, read on.

How do you get more damage with Meteorite Staff?

The Rock Sling spell is right nearby – Don’t leave Aeonia Swamp quite yet! The Meteorite Staff has a passive ability of improving Gravity Spells, which are pretty tough to find. But there’s one very close to where you found the staff. From the Meteorite Staff tower, head north about 100 feet. You should see the remainder of what looks like a church. Here’s what it looks like from the front: The Rock Sling spell is in this cutch-like building Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco via Polygon Inside you’ll find some steps leading down, with a chest inside. There you’ll find this spell: Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco via Polygon Rock Sling is one of the best spells we’ve found in Elden Ring. It has insane range and deals physical damage, which most spells don’t. Better still, it’s boosted by your Meteorite Staff. Everybody wins. Alright, now that you have the good stuff, head back home and don’t come back here until you’re actually leveled for it.

How long should I use the Meteorite Staff?

Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. Last edited by Kerrack ; 16 Mar, 2022 @ 8:55pm If you upgrade a staff in the background, then the moment it has higher spell scaling, you dump the Meteor staff forever. I think a typical staff at around 50% upgrade will start to outclass it Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. I feel like my magic damage is lacking but my int is 60. I’m level 115 Once you can upgrade some staffs to +7, they are better than the meteor staff. Other staffs end up with S scaling and much higher damage. Meteor staff is really good for a while though. Yeah nah, other staves outclass it when they get to +7, stat scaling isn’t everything, Sorcery Scaling is much more relevant in the end. Depends how relient you are on gravity spells. I stopped using it once I had enough int to use raya’s staff at max level. Its hands down the best staff until wayyy end game. Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. no. I’ve been using Rennala’s staff and not only is it’s spell scaling higher, it has higher scaling (still S, but shown Blue in comparision). Originally posted by smythny : Once you can upgrade some staffs to +7, they are better than the meteor staff. Other staffs end up with S scaling and much higher damage. Meteor staff is really good for a while though. Huh. I could’a sworn they still ended up with worse scaling than the MS. Good to know. at 60 int you should upgrade the carion royal stave, it gets up to s scaling at about level 5 i think Originally posted by colyay : It’s S tier in int scaling but it can’t be upgraded. Is it better to just go with a different upgraded staff? lusat staff get S scaling too and will be way better than the meteorite staff at the end but it make every spell cost 50% more the prince of death staff scale with both faith and int and at 70/70 max upgrade will be the best staff in the game also soft cap for damage scaling is around 80, so as a mage unless you want a fix lv for pvp or stuff like that go all the way up 99 int for damage Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. IIRC even at full upgrade level, the other staves don’t end up with S scaling. That is incorrect. The best staffs in the game are Azur’s Carian Regal Scepter and Lusat’s Meteorite staff is better then all staffs till around +7 for unique staffs and +17-18 for normal staffs Last edited by dustin1280 ; 16 Mar, 2022 @ 9:02pm Originally posted by Lesmir : Originally posted by colyay : It’s S tier in int scaling but it can’t be upgraded. It’s like Drake Sword on steroids Makes every other staff feel useless for like 75% of the game. Originally posted by Kerrack : Never. It’s pretty much straight-up the best staff in the game. That is BS The best staffs in the game are Azur’s Carian Regal Scepter and Lusat’s Meteorite staff is better then all staffs till around +7 for unique staffs and +17-18 for normal staffs yeah, the biggest merit of the Meteor staff is that it effectively comes half upgraded, so when you don’t have other staffs leveled it’s super good. Can’t wait till I need to go get those when I reach that point.

Can Azur Glintstone staff be upgraded?

How To Get Azur’s Glintstone Staff – How To Level Up Meteorite Staff Elden Ring Azur’s Glintstone Staff can be found in Raya Lucaria, but getting to it is a more complicated matter than looking off the side of the path. The Academy of Raya Lucaria is chock-full of secret passageways and hidden items – the area almost doubles in size when one considers the rooftops are explorable too.

To get to Azur’s Glintstone Staff, start from the Red Wolf of Radagon boss room and head all the way to the courtyard where Moongrum, Carian Knight is fought. Instead of taking the elevator up, take the path left through the covered bridge. Open the shortcut door, then look over the railing. You should see a stairway just below this shortcut door – jump down to it, defeat the sorcerer patrolling the stairs, then open another shortcut door at the bottom of the stairs.

Turn around and head back up the stairs, turn left, and jump over the railing onto the rooftops. Continue through this area until you reach the roof of the Church of the Cuckoo (check the map to see your location). Look for a broken window to enter the upper floors of the Church of the Cuckoo, and carefully drop down the wooden railings to reach a room full of sorcerers.

Defeat these enemies and look for a stone bridge leading to a room with what appears to be a large mass of Raya Lucaria sorcerer heads. The purple item resting in the crystals at the bottom of this abomination, called a Graven School, is Azur’s Glintstone Staff. Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
