How do you open the trunk and hood in GTA Online?
Ways to open hood, trunk & doors in GTA Online
If you want to open your hood, trunk or doors in GTA Online, then the Interaction menu is the place to go. (For us Brits, we call them the bonnet, boot and doors)Open up the menu, then click on Vehicles, then scroll down to Vehicle Doors and then toggle through the options to open all available parts of the vehicle. It works whether you’re inside or outside the vehicle. If you don’t have a trunk, then that option won’t appear and if you somehow get your door knocked off as in the video above, then that specific door won’t appear.
To close them just press again. There’s also the option to open all available parts at once. This is useful if you’re at a car meet (prior to an Oppressor destroying it of course) and want to show off your customised vehicle in all its glory. Or if you just want to have a proper look inside your new ride and admire the detail and missing details of your engine and interior.

How do I open the trunk?
Download Article Download Article When you can’t find your car keys or your electronic key fob isn’t working, getting into your trunk may seem like an impossible mission. Fortunately, there are some tricks you can try to get into the trunk. If your car is unlocked, it’s very easy to get the trunk open.
- 1 Press the trunk unlock button on the key fob if it’s working properly. Most cars that have been made post-2000 come with key fobs that allow you to electronically open a vehicle’s locks. In most cases, there’s a special button on the fob specifically for the trunk. Push that and the trunk will pop open.
- 2 Use the car key in the trunk lock if you don’t have power locks. Nearly every car model has a lock mechanism on the trunk, so you can get into the trunk if the electronic key fob isn’t working. Fit the car’s key into the trunk lock and turn it, the trunk should open easily. Advertisement
- 3 Activate the trunk open feature in the front seat if the car is unlocked. Most car models have a button or lever on the dashboard or in the front seat area that opens the trunk. If you’re in the front seat, you can easily push the button or pull the lever to pop the trunk.
- If you’re not sure where the trunk button or lever is in the front seat, consult the owner’s manual for the car to identify its location.
- 4 Contact the nearest car dealership for an emergency key. For example, if you drive a Ford and there’s a Ford dealership nearby, contact them about possibly providing you with an emergency key to unlock the trunk. These emergency keys can only unlock the trunk and car doors, but they won’t fit in the ignition or start the car.
- You’ll probably need to show the dealership proof of ownership before they’ll provide this service.

- 1 Slide the hook end of a slim jim between the window and trim. To open a car without the keys, you’ll need a slim jim or lockout tool. Place the sim jim tool against the passenger’s side window with the hook end facing downward. Slide the tool down between the window and the window trim at the bottom near the door handle.
- You can purchase a slim jim at most automotive parts stores.
- A slim jim won’t work on a car with electronic locks. If your car is electronic and you don’t have the key, key fob, or access code, your best bet is to call a locksmith.
- 2 Press the slim jim down into the door and find the lock rod. Move the tool down so it fits into the gap between the door and window. There is a lock rod in that area that connects the lock to the handle. Slide the slim jim around near the door handle until you feel it hook the rod.
- 3 Pull up on the lock rod with the slim jim. Once you’ve hooked the rod, carefully move the slim jim upward to unlock the door. You’ll know that the door is unlocked when you hear the lock click.
- 4 Open the door and press the trunk open mechanism in the front seat. When the door is unlocked, you can climb inside the car. If the vehicle still has power, you can simply use the trunk open button or lever to pop the trunk.

- 1 Move into the backseat and locate the seat release mechanism. If you can’t use the trunk open mechanism in the front seat to open the trunk, climb into the back seat. Many car models have release mechanisms for the back seats that allow you to fold them forward so you can access the trunk. Check your owner’s manual if you’re not sure where the lever is.
- Not all car models allow for trunk access from the back seat. If yours doesn’t, it’s best to call a locksmith to open the trunk.
- 2 Pull the lever and fold the seat forward. When you’ve found the seat release mechanism, pull the the lever forward. Grab the top of the seat with your other hand, and pull the seatback forward.
- Depending on the size of your car and the size of your body, you may need to fold both seatbacks forward to provide access to the trunk.
- 3 Climb into the trunk and locate the safety release lever. Once you can see into the trunk, crawl forward so you can slide as least partway into the trunk. Find the trunk safety release lever in the trunk, which usually glows in the dark and may be located at the back or the front of the area depending on your model.
- Cars made before 2002 may not have a trunk release safety feature, which is designed to prevent children from accidentally locking themselves inside.
- If you can’t find your trunks safety release lever, consult your owner’s manual.
- 4 Pull the lever and open the trunk. When you find the safety release feature, yank down on the lever. The trunk will then spring open.

How do you control the truck in GTA 5?
How to use the Remote Control Unit – GTA Online players can open up their Interaction Menu and select their Inventory. From there, players can scroll down to find Remote Control Vehicles. There should be an option called RC Personal Vehicle. Players can click on this to activate the Remote Control Unit and drive their vehicle.
- They will be given a from within the car itself.
- This feature allows players to use their vehicle weapons, such as their machine guns.
- They can also detonate their vehicle, making it effective as a last ditch effort.
- However, players will need to file their insurance claim shortly afterwards.
- Unfortunately, players cannot have both the Remotive Control Unit and the Missile Jammer.
They can only have one or the other, which severely limits their options. For the sake of novelty, players can always side with the former. The latter is more useful for the meta game, given how many autolock missiles are used.

Why can’t I open my trunk?
Here’s what you can do to try to open the trunk – If your trunk fails to open, you can try these methods to see if you can get it to open up by itself without the need for a locksmith. When trying these out make sure that you don’t break the locking mechanism itself as it can lead to costly repairs.
Check your trunk again One of the first things you can do if your trunk won’t open is to try it again. In this scenario, the trunk latch may have gotten stuck due to dirt and debris getting stuck on it or from the trunk rubber sticking to the lid itself.
Check for interior access If you can’t open the trunk via its exterior lock, then you can try accessing it through the inside of the vehicle. Try using the manual release leaver which is normally located on the driver’s side of the vehicle. If this doesn’t work, try and see if your rear seats can be folded down or removed to give you access to the trunk.
Head to an auto locksmith While you can try out DIY solutions to try and open up your trunk it is important to note that some of these may end up damaging your vehicle more. With that in mind, you should avoid trying to open up your trunk unless you have direct access to your vehicle.
If you don’t and that your keys are in the car, we highly recommend contacting your car insurance provider or preferred service center for your vehicle to help you out with this situation. You can also choose to go to a locksmith if there is one available near your vehicle so that they can help you unlock your vehicle or your trunk.
Either way leaving it to the professionals is still your best option even though their services can be expensive.

Is there a trunk release under the car?
You may not know it, but every passenger car built after 2002 has a trunk release mechanism built into the trunk. It was mandated on September 1, 2001 by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) after years of lobbying that gained a vocal advocate in a woman who’d been kidnapped: Janette Fennell, of San Francisco.
- Fennell and her husband were kidnapped in their own garage on October 29, 1995, and stuffed in the trunk of their Lexus.
- Their infant son was still in his safety seat in the backseat of the car, though he was later recovered unharmed.
- The kidnappers headed out with the Fennells trapped in their own trunk, not sure where they were going nor what was going to happen to them.
“Janette started pulling on the carpeting in the trunk. She didn’t know why, exactly. But she was able to expose a bunch of wires, and she was pulling at them. he thought that if she could make the lights flicker or flash, maybe someone would see it, maybe they would call 911, maybe the car would be pulled over” according to Atlas Obscura,
- After leaving paved roads behind, the kidnappers eventually pulled over, demanded cash, jewellery, bank cards, and PINs, and closed them back in the trunk, abandoning the couple.
- It was then that Fennell spotted a gap of light in the wires she’d exposed — the trunk release cable, wired to the activation button on the dashboard.
The NHTSA had been petitioned as far back as 1984 about the need for a release switch to be incorporated into the trunks of passenger cars, stating “that persons such as alarm and stereo installers, mechanics, playful children, pranksters, and crime victims may be trapped in the trunk.
- The petitioner also believed an elderly person might fall into the trunk and thereby become entrapped.” At the time, the agency declared the chances remote that such entrapments would be likely.
- From 1984 to 1998, the agency would receive two dozen more requests for action.
- In 1998, The National Safe Kids Campaign was asked by NHTSA to form a task force to investigate the matter, no doubt compelled by the tragic deaths of 11 children in three separate occurrences within three weeks of each other in July and August of 1998.
Children dying trapped in hot trunks was not a new phenomenon, but it was definitely one the auto industry could address. “What often happens in these accidents is that a child, perhaps exploring or playing hide-and-seek, pushes down the back seat until it lies flat, creating a passageway into the trunk.
- After crawling through, the child kicks the seat back upright and unwittingly gets locked inside,” according to a FairWarning piece.
- Many could only imagine a child pulling a trunk lid closed, not realizing this is the more likely way they could become trapped.
- Joining that task force was Janette Fennell, who had founded her own non-profit, Trunk Releases Urgently Needed Coalition (TRUNC) after her own horrific experience.
They weren’t only petitioning for automakers to equip all cars with a trunk release; studies proved that children who find themselves trapped often went into a passive mode and waited for rescue. The release also had to be obvious to locate and simple to use.
- If your car is a 2002 model or later, it has an interior trunk release lever or button.
- Eeping those children in mind, it will be an easy to locate glow-in-the-dark pull or button.
- Since the introduction of the device, no children have died in cars so equipped.
- Unfortunately, there were subsequent deaths in older models.
If you have an earlier model car, you can get an aftermarket release for less than fifty bucks. While the chances of getting kidnapped and stuffed in a trunk may be slim, the chances of kids playing hide-and-go-seek are far greater. Those presenting their cases to NHTSA were advocating for universal trunk releases, and some were thinking they were not required: two disparate groups. The same way we fight to combat children being accidentally left in car seats and dying from heat, we have to teach kids and remind parents about car safety even when the vehicle is sitting in the driveway. Cars are not toys. You wouldn’t let your child climb under a car to play, don’t let them play inside it, either.
Eep your parked car locked, and keep the key fobs out of reach of children. Locate the trunk release switch in your own car, and make sure it’s not covered by carpet or in any other way interfered with by trunk contents. Explaining this to your child is your call: you either have a kid who will take it as information, or one who will see it as a challenge.
I’d show mine.
