Home Gaming News GTA Online Players Praise Invite-Only and Private Lobby Changes
GTA Online sees a surge in players after an anticipated Criminal Enterprise update with new missions and customizations goes live. After Grand Theft Auto Online received an update last month that added highly requested features in private lobbies, player numbers have been considerably up. The popularity of the title hasn’t been quite up to the levels it saw during the start of the pandemic, when 200,000 concurrent players were a common occurrence.
However, following the debut of the new GTA Online Criminal Enterprises for private and invite-only lobbies on July 26, players rejoiced by crowding the servers. After the release of the patch, which also included a nerf to the most overpowered car in the game, Oppressor MK 2, the player stats for GTA Online nearly hit the peak of 200,000 players for the first time since the update in July 2021 where Rockstar offered players free money,
In the new patch, in addition to the Oppressor nerf and new Criminal Enterprises, players get to enjoy new Contract Missions as well as brand-new Operation Paper Trail missions for one to four players. These Operation Paper Trail missions put players in the shoes of IAA agents that are investigating raising gas prices in San Andreas.
- Much of the praise for the patch goes to the private lobby aspect of the Criminal Enterprises update.
- GTA Online players can now complete business activities, including Sell Missions, in private lobbies with invite-only access.
- This means that Oppressor MK 2 riding griefers, be it nerfed or not, are no longer able to ruin people’s money runs.
This was one of the most common gripes about the game’s public lobby gameplay. There are other economic updates that should address the problem of making money in GTA Online as well, like increases in Race and Adversary Mode, Premium Race, and Heist payouts.
Also, fees for changing gang names and fonts have been reduced. This is clearly a major update to the free-to-roam world of San Andreas that players of some other Rockstar titles would love. The publisher seems to be still committed to releasing updates, large and small, proven by GTA Online ‘s newest off-roader, Declasse Draugur, added to the game just this week.
The game’s popularity in 2022 had been waning, but the community got a spark from the update, as they usually do. While the response from gamers is not entirely positive, the numbers and posts like the one above speak for themselves. For a game closing in on ten years, the trend is surprisingly good.
Not everything is rosy, however, as the game lives off of updates that reinvigorate the older players since new blood is harder to acquire. While the list of quality of life improvements is long – and bug fixes even longer – not everything has been mended. Repetitive gameplay and pay-to-win aspects are likely not going anywhere, but hopefully these issues are addressed with Grand Theft Auto 6,

Home Game News Game News GTA Online Finally Lets You Run Businesses In Private Lobbies And Oppressors Get Nerfed
This is a great day for GTA Online players. The easiest way to make big stacks of cash in GTA Online is through businesses. There are arcades, motorcycle clubs, weapons dealerships, nightclubs, and money laundering operations. Starting July 26, you can run all of these from private, invite-only lobbies.
- Arguably the worst thing about GTA Online is the griefers.
- Sure, it takes a lot of money to buy anything of substance in the game – how else is Rockstar supposed to convince you to buy Shark Cards? – but at least it’s possible.
- Well, it is when some dickhead on an Oppressor isn’t griefing you.
- Fortunately, these changes Rockstar is rolling out combat those issues.
According to a Rockstar newswire post, as well as the upcoming content in the Criminal Enterprises update, there will also be a host of changes aimed at making the online experience more enjoyable for players. Primarily, you can conduct business activities, including selling missions, in private, invite-only lobbies. “Starting July 26, players will be able to engage in business activities — including Sell Missions — in private Invite Only sessions. You’ll be able to register as a VIP, CEO, or MC President in Invite Only, Crew, and Friend Sessions, allowing business owners to source and sell at their own pace or with their friends.” Of course, “Players can also continue to sell their goods in Public Sessions, and those who do will receive an increased high-demand bonus for their efforts.” This makes it seem like selling in public lobbies will now net even more money.
Hopefully, there won’t be a penalty for selling in a private session. To help combat griefing in general in public lobbies, the GTA Online scoreboard is also going to be changed. Now, kills made during public lobby freeroam won’t count towards a player’s KD ratio. This should discourage players who like to hop on Oppressors and bully people from being absolute dickheads.
Because that may not work, to discourage them further, “the effectiveness of the Homing Missiles on the Pegassi Oppressor Mk II has been reduced, and its countermeasures will have increased cooldowns and fewer uses.” An Oppressor nerf is just what the doctor ordered.

(no source) only a rumor was already promised for smugglers run If I’m not a CEO, will this affect me at all? Yes, as some CEO missions you can do as VIP. There is pretty much nothing you can do in invite sessions to make money, and then the question is why you even want to play in invite sessions. Just go passive in a public session. Can you do Cayo Perico in invite only?
Intel – The Gather Intel mission is a freemode mission that begins the Cayo Perico Heist, and focuses on scoping out the island for heist by locating a key target, several optional loot items, and important points of interest. To do so, players must visit the island undercover – their first playthrough sees them acting as the tour manager for a prominent DJ who is set to provide music for a beach party, while subsequent playthroughs see players visit the island while disguised as one of its regular drug smugglers.
The mission may be completed entirely solo, and during Invite Only, Friend, and Solo sessions. The mission allows for full exploration of most of the island, though prohibiting players from conducting outright conflict, instead using stealth to avoid detection by guards and security cameras while seeking out important intel and any potential opportunities for the heist.
Like the Diamond Casino Heist, the mission is repeatable after the initial run, allowing players to return and scope out any additional points of interest or targets that they missed.

Can you do casino heist on invite only?
Description – ” The Diamond Casino Heist is an all-new approach to Heist architecture and execution: one huge gameplay-packed operation as you work with the Cheng family to infiltrate the most secure building in all of Los Santos. Featuring a diverse range of opportunities for set-up and prep missions that shape your plan of attack, multiple paths of approach, constantly changing security measures and a dizzying array of choices once inside.
- Expect outcomes for you and your crew to change on the fly as you deal with each new situation, leading to more choices mid-mission.
- Even if the best laid plans go sideways, you’ll have the opportunity to keep the mission afloat without failing by shooting your way out with your remaining team lives, all allowing the Heist to be highly replayable with new scenarios unfolding each time.
” — Rockstar Newswire This Heist can only be played while being in a CEO or VIP Organization or being in a Motorcycle Club and the CEO/VIP/MC President must own an Arcade in order to start The Casino Heist. Similar to The Doomsday Heist, the Casino Heist can be completed with a minimum of two players, allowing a larger payout during the heist if played with fewer players.
Each Crew Member has a minimum cut of 15% of the Heist’s earnings during the Finale. Following the idea of the Doomsday Heist, Prep Jobs are featured in each approach of the Casino Heist: These are required in order to progress to the Finale. Prep Jobs are completed seamlessly in public Freemode sessions and players have the option to do the mission, steal the equipment from rival CEO/VIP Organizations and Motorcycle Clubs, or buy the equipment; however, these missions can be completed by the CEO/VIP/MC President themselves without any other member in the Organization/MC, though it is not recommended, as there could be PvP action.
Unlike previous heists, all setup and prep missions for the heist are done in Freemode, with mandatory and optional ones that can be completed to make the heist easier. Another big change is that Prep Jobs can now be performed in Invite Only/Friend/Crew sessions, eliminating the risk of any unwanted PvP action.

VIP Work –
- Potential profit: $150k per hour
- Prerequisites: Organisation member (VIP/CEO)
Method: Start an organisation as a VIP or CEO from the SecuroServ option in the interaction menu. Open up the interaction menu and select “VIP Work”, then the mission you want to do. You will need to complete a mission in free roam and will be rewarded with money upon successful completion.
- Tip: These missions are a great way to earn some money while waiting for cooldown timers to expire, such as if you’re waiting to source another vehicle for your warehouse, as they are completed fairly quickly and pay relatively well.
- They aren’t a replacement for other money making methods, though, as their payout isn’t as high, but they’re solid filler jobs.
Headhunter, Hostile Takeover and Sightseer are notably decent missions to take on. (Image credit: Rockstar Games)

How long can you stay idle in GTA Online?
Quick Links – offers an almost endless number of activities for players to enjoy. However, it suffers from the same problem that has plagued gamers since the dawn of online gaming. Since a live service game cannot be paused, players that need to step away from the game no longer have to fear being disconnected, as there are ways to safely without getting kicked from the lobby.
Being AFK may bring more issues than just disconnects; for example, players who have high-end jobs such as a CEO could get charged business expenses every 48 minutes. To avoid these and other similar fees while being AFK, players can first start solo jobs, such as the ” Blow Up,” as they will not be charged as long as it is active.
It is important to note that methods that rely on in-game activities will only work if the players’ system remains focused on GTA Online, Minimizing the window on PC or using the console for other activities will get players kicked after about 15 minutes of inactivity.
