What carries over to New Game Plus in Elden Ring – Once you start New Game Plus, you’ll be placed into the world of Elden Ring anew. Enemies will be powered up, and give more Runes as a result. Basically, it’s the same game, turned up to eleven. Some older Souls games made more changes – if that’s the case here remains to be seen, but it doesn’t appear there’s any deep secrets left to be found in New Game Plus, at least in Elden Ring’s launch state – it’s just a chance to replay the story, tackle different quests, and get a different ending.
- Heading into Journey 2 you’ll keep your level, gear (including ashes, weapons, sorceries & incantations, notes, cookbooks, memory stones, etcetera), consumable items, Flask power and uses, access to Torrent, and so on – so you’ll go into the play-through fully powered up.
- In fact, the only major things you’ll lose will be Sites of Grace (which must be discovered again), Great Runes, and any keys or key items that might allow you to skip ahead and break progression.
Doors opened by Stonesword Keys are also reset and closed again. At that point, you’re set free in the world again to conquer The Lands Between once again. Same game but different. But still same. For more on The Lands Between, check out our comprehensive guide to Elden Ring,

Does anything change in NG+ Elden Ring?
Starting Elden Ring Over Completely – Starting the game from scratch means a fresher, more unique journey, and there is a certain irreplaceable charm to surviving as a lower-level character, when Elden Ring is so difficult it basically functions as a survival horror experience. Though NG+ is the more productive option, many who replay the game are looking for a fresh start.
- As noted, there are no new enemies or items in Elden Ring’s New Game Plus, so these players will not be missing anything.
- Any player who primarily wants to ramp up the difficulty, or who just wants more to grow even more powerful, should go with Elden Ring’s NG+,
- Also, there is something to be said for the sense of progression one gets from carrying their old character over to a more difficult playthrough.
There is no real end to the NG+ cycle, as players can carry their lowly Tarnished over infinite times to try and hit Elden Ring’s level cap, but the illusion of progress is important when restarting a game that’s so vast and complex. Next: Elden Ring DLC Could Take Players Into Miquella’s Dreams
- Another small, but important addition comes to PC players with multi-monitor setups, or those who alt-tab frequently: the mouse click used to bring the window into focus will no longer perform an attack in-game.
- There’s also also a fix for a bug that slowed performance when changing from full-screen to windowed, and when altering the game’s resolution in certain cases.

How much harder is New Game+ Elden Ring?
4 Increased Challenge – New Game Plus will mostly be an easier experience for you. There is a bump in the damage and health of enemies and bosses, but it’s not so drastic that you’re back to square one. However, some of the lategame bosses will still give you a run for your money, likely even moreso than the first time.

Do you lose bells in NG+ Elden Ring?
FromSoftware dropped a surprise new patch for Elden Ring that fixes a tonne of bugs, and adds a couple of welcome features. Elden Ring has received a new update. Patch 1.05 went live on all platforms on Monday. Though it’s not the most exciting, it does include a few neat additions, alongside several bug fixes. The update was preceded by a three-hour maintenance on all platforms, and installing it is required to access the game’s online environment for passive multiplayer (messages etc.) as well as co-op and PvP.
One of the biggest new additions in the update is that Bell Bearings, which unlock upgrade materials and other crucial items for purchase at the Twin Maiden Husks, now carry over into New Game Plus, meaning you only need to find them once to have them forever. For players looking to summon others for help, there’s now a sound effect whenever a summon sign appears.
Hopefully this won’t get annoying outside of boss rooms as signs appear and disappear. On PC, there’s now an option to quit directly to desktop, without having to first go to the main menu. Players using mouse and keyboard can more easily get past the ‘Press Any Button’ prompt, too.
Most of the other general bug fixes concern weapons and items when used in certain circumstances. A few of those can be seen as stealth balance changes, depending on whether or not you believe the previous behaviour was intended. FromSoftware also blocked a couple of holes in the environment that allowed players to glitch into locked areas, such as the coliseums.

Beginning with the more important aspects of Elden Ring ‘s NG+ system is what players will lose when starting anew.
Some of the main objects lost in a NG+ run are Great Runes, the items received from defeating some of the game’s tougher bosses. Any progress in the main quest and, with the NPCs revived. Keys and certain areas opened by those keys will also be closed again, including areas opened with Stonesword Keys.
The Stonesword Keys in your inventory will carry over but need to be used again. Finally, although the map remains intact with each location discovered, all Sites of Grace will disappear. On the brighter side, there is a laundry list of items Elden Ring allows players to keep once Journey 2 begins.

Do enemies get stronger in NG+ Elden Ring?
What is New Game Plus? – All the Dark Souls games have featured an NG+ mode, allowing you to replay the game from the beginning with most of your gear, items, and level from the first run. As expected, this mode does make enemies harder in Elden Ring, but rewards you with significantly more runes for defeating them.
Playing on NG+ can also be a great way to unlock certain items, since many of them are often tied to missable quests that overlap. We won’t spoil them here, but just know that unlocking everything in the game will require multiple playthroughs. In addition, the previous Souls games have featured more than one NG+ mode.
After you finish NG+, you can begin a new run on NG++ mode, and so on. Each subsequent run provides you with more difficult enemies than the previous, but yields more Runes. In past Souls games, the enemy difficulty usually caps out at around NG+7 or NG+9, but you’re still able to begin new runs past that.

Does NG+ affect matchmaking Elden Ring?
Well a lot of people will stop leveling somewhere at NG and simply stay at whatever level they chose through NG+whatever. Also NG-level does not affect matchmaking, so what you should be asking is how many people actually choose to go to that level and where are they. The former – no idea. The latter – you can press a button (do not remember which) in the map menu and you should see where you can find multiplayer activity. What!?, so we aren’t working anymore on a +/-10 levels basis (and I think weapon upgrades were counted too) and we can summon a Lv 300 as a level 90 facing Malenia? No, they meant the NG journey a given player is on.
A NG+99 player, provided they fit the rest of the requirements, can join somebody in NG just fine. im NG+ and still lvl 158, i dont level up tho. i just play the bosses with dodges and stuff cause i dont wanna fight high level boys in PvP 😀 Onni 13 Mar, 2022 @ 4:33am I just reached NG+5 and I’m 250 was like 160 when I got to NG+ cause I did everything Last edited by Onni ; 13 Mar, 2022 @ 4:33am I started ng+ with a lvl 100 char.
