Is Caelid hard in Elden Ring?
Located east of Limgrave, Caelid is one of Elden Ring ‘s most dangerous regions. It takes quite a bit of effort to tackle at a low level, because it’s desinged to be visited during the middle of your adventure. That being said, if you arrive by mistake, be prepared for some pushback.
Scarlet rot plague and a myriad of horrifying enemies await, as well as one of the game’s most difficult bosses. Even so, Caelid is actually an optional zone, meaning that you don’t need to visit it, explore it, or defeat the challenging boss Starscourge Radahn at Redmane Castle if you don’t care to.
However, you do need to beat at least two shardbearers to progress to the end of the game, so Radahn is one option. And you must defeat him if you wish to get your hands on the Mimic Tear, If you decide to take a shit at Caelid, it’s best to fully explore it after completing the Academy of Raya Lucaria and getting some levels and gear under your belt.

How strong should I be for Caelid?
How Strong You Should Be Before Visiting Caelid in Elden Ring – 
Players are free to enter Caelid at whatever level they choose. However, the recommended levels are around 60-70. This ensures that the content will be challenging and limit the frustration of repeatedly dying. Players should also have decent weapons with several upgrades and good protective armor.
- This advice applies to the southern region of Caelid, though.
- Traveling north puts players in Dragonbarrow, which is a much higher-level area in Elden Ring,
- Players can get to the Caelid Wilds early on.
- It is possible to walk or ride there from East Limgrave, but players may also likely end up there against their will.
Players may get ensnared in a transporter trap in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins and transported to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel. They will need to either fight or run to escape. Considering how dangerous Elden Ring ‘s region of Caelid is and the level recommended to survive, the second option is probably the one most players will choose.
The transporter trap in Elden Ring ‘s Dragon-Burnt Ruins is likely one of the first players will encounter, so they might be under-leveled when they first get to Caelid. Players that are appropriately leveled will most likely have beaten the boss at Stormveil Castle and spent some time in Liurnia of the Lakes. Where can I grind in Caelid?
Elden Ring rune farming spot in Caelid – Despite Caelid being a terrifying area to travel to early on, it’s also got Elden Ring’s best and most fun rune farming spot, and it’s possible to get there right at the beginning, although it takes a bit more work, and we recommend you unlock the horse Torrent first. 
This is a trick chest, however, and when you open it smoke will appear, transporting you all the way inside Sellia Crystal Tunnel, which you won’t be able to fast-travel out of until you’ve escaped! Naturally, the enemies in here are quite high-level, including some who can cast strong magic spells, but you can leave by following a path downwards to where you’ll find the tunnel’s Site of Grace. 
While you can explore the area at your peril, we recommend just continuing heading South from where you are to other Sites of Grace, which will make the journey that bit more manageable. Riding Torrent will also help, especially as you’ll likely cross some swamps that will inflict you with Scarlet Rot if you attempt to wade through on foot. 
You might have encountered the terrifying giant dogs on the way here, but in this area you’ll find three of them feasting on carcasses, oblivious that there’s a band of soldiers about to start an ambush. You can just sit back in a hidden spot and watch the fight between soldiers and dogs play out, and you’ll automatically recoup runes from anyone killed. 
If any soldiers start targeting you instead, just bait them into one of the dogs or better yet, ride on Torrent or summon an ash spirit to help you out. You can even bait four more dogs just North of this area to continue the carnage, which will rack up even more runes.
- Assuming you don’t get killed during the skirmish, you’ll be able to net around 5,000 or 6,000 runes for each run.
- A Stake of Marika is also available so if you do get killed for any reason, you’ll be able to jump back into another farm run attempt – just remember to recover any runes you’ve dropped! Once you have settled on a starting class and starting Keepsake item, you should first work out how to level up, how to respec and use Ashes of War,
