FromSoftware releases update 1.05 for its open world epic Elden Ring, and fans will be happy to know that the best rune farming spot still works. 
FromSoftware has supported Elden Ring with regular updates since launching the game earlier this year. These updates have added new quest phases and NPCs to the game, but they have mostly focused on squashing bugs and addressing balancing problems. FromSoftware just recently released Elden Ring update 1.05, which fixes a number of lingering issues with the game.
- For anyone worried that it may have altered the game’s best rune farming spot, it doesn’t appear to be the case.
- For the uninitiated, the best Elden Ring rune farming spot is located in Mohgwyn Palace at the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace.
- This Site of Grace features a bunch of enemies in one location that can be easily killed very fast, allowing players to farm them whenever they need a rune boost.
To make this area even more effective for rune farming, Elden Ring players can also shoot at a bird-like enemy located across the canyon, tricking it into running off a cliff to its death. Using these methods, Elden Ring players can farm 5 million runes in one hour, which is hugely helpful whenever they need to upgrade their gear or level up any of their skills. 
However, it seems as though FromSoftware has no intention of changing the best Elden Ring rune farming spot, as it still works after update 1.05. Elden Ring players simply need to head to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace and farm away. It’s always possible it will be nerfed or altered in a future update, however, so Elden Ring players should keep that in mind.
Elden Ring update 1.05 didn’t bother changing the best rune farming spot, but it did take away one of the methods players have used to cheese certain bosses in the game. Prior to update 1.05, Elden Ring players could find ways to attack certain bosses before actually going through their fog gates. This essentially allowed players to cheat and beat bosses without ever really fighting them, but this has been addressed in the latest update.

Where can I farm souls of early Elden Ring?
Caelid – The best early game rune farm in Elden Ring is in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow, which is a higher level area you can access via a portal from near the start of the game. 
First, head over to the Third Church of Marika Site of Grace in the northeast of Limgrave. In the bushes just to the north of the church is a portal to Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow – specifically the Bestial Sanctum.

The host has to find a hiding spot, lure other players into their game, and wait for the invader to either die or leave.
It doesn’t seem like FromSoftware will implement any changes to discourage this strategy, but Elden Ring players have learned how to defeat AFK rune farmers in various and interesting ways. Some invaders use glitches to reach the host’s hiding spot, while others take advantage of unique weapon skills to defeat them.
One player recently defeated an AFK rune farmer while fully dressed as one of the most difficult bosses in Elden Ring, A user named slimeycoomer uploaded a clip showing how they took out an AFK rune farmer in Elden Ring, Slimeycoomer seems to know exactly where the host is hiding, as this spot looks to be popular among rune farmers.

Just by targeting one ogre and hitting L2, I killed a bunch of them and got about 40,000 runes. You’ll see this bird walking back and forth in the area across the canyon. Hit it with an arrow and it will get mad, chase you, fall down the cliff and die, granting you over 10,000 runes. Remember to equip your Golden Scarab talisman, which will boost your ruin acquisition by 20%. All told, you’ll get about 60,000 runes per run. Once you get into a good flow, it’s easy to farm a million runes in 10 minutes here. Spend an hour on this and you’ll be the richest Tarnished the Lands Between ever saw.
