Home Gaming News Elden Ring Best Rune Farming Spot Still Works After Update 1.05
FromSoftware releases update 1.05 for its open world epic Elden Ring, and fans will be happy to know that the best rune farming spot still works. FromSoftware has supported Elden Ring with regular updates since launching the game earlier this year. These updates have added new quest phases and NPCs to the game, but they have mostly focused on squashing bugs and addressing balancing problems. FromSoftware just recently released Elden Ring update 1.05, which fixes a number of lingering issues with the game.
- For anyone worried that it may have altered the game’s best rune farming spot, it doesn’t appear to be the case.
- For the uninitiated, the best Elden Ring rune farming spot is located in Mohgwyn Palace at the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace.
- This Site of Grace features a bunch of enemies in one location that can be easily killed very fast, allowing players to farm them whenever they need a rune boost.
To make this area even more effective for rune farming, Elden Ring players can also shoot at a bird-like enemy located across the canyon, tricking it into running off a cliff to its death. Using these methods, Elden Ring players can farm 5 million runes in one hour, which is hugely helpful whenever they need to upgrade their gear or level up any of their skills. However, it seems as though FromSoftware has no intention of changing the best Elden Ring rune farming spot, as it still works after update 1.05. Elden Ring players simply need to head to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace and farm away. It’s always possible it will be nerfed or altered in a future update, however, so Elden Ring players should keep that in mind.
Elden Ring update 1.05 didn’t bother changing the best rune farming spot, but it did take away one of the methods players have used to cheese certain bosses in the game. Prior to update 1.05, Elden Ring players could find ways to attack certain bosses before actually going through their fog gates. This essentially allowed players to cheat and beat bosses without ever really fighting them, but this has been addressed in the latest update.
Now Elden Ring players will have to fight the game’s bosses fair and square, or at least come up with another method to cheese them. Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. MORE: Elden Ring: All Liurnia Of The Lakes Bosses, Location, And Drops

Where can I farm souls of early Elden Ring?
Caelid – The best early game rune farm in Elden Ring is in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow, which is a higher level area you can access via a portal from near the start of the game. First, head over to the Third Church of Marika Site of Grace in the northeast of Limgrave. In the bushes just to the north of the church is a portal to Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow – specifically the Bestial Sanctum.
When you arrive, turn around and get on your horse, riding straight past the intimidating enemy in your way.
At the bottom of the hill is a Site of Grace, Farum Greatbridge, you can rest at.
From here, crouch and sneak back up the hill, sneak attacking the little ninja guys wandering the area. Caution is advised since they can and will kill low level players they catch, but once you get the knack of getting right behind them while they’re unaware and sneak attacking, they’re very easy to take down. Each one nets you a chunky 1,000 Runes, which quickly racks up in the early game.

Where is the best endgame rune farm in Elden Ring?
Two final notes about rune farming – In general, any rune farming you’ll do in Elden Ring can benefit from the Gold Scarab, which is a talisman found in an Abandoned Cave in Caelid. It’s a bewildering place that’s tricky to run through, but it’s worth your while to trod through the scarlet rot.
- If you’re open to item crafting and everything that entails, it’s also worth stocking up on a consumable item called Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet to further bolster your rune farming.
- You can do one, or the other, or both for maximum potency — they stack,
- And if you haven’t set any group passwords yet, that’s a low-effort way to increase your Rune gains,

Where can I farm souls early?
Undead Burg – Early on in the game, you can rest at the first bonfire in the Undead Burg and use it as your home base as you level up. The enemies near the building will net you a decent amount of souls early on, so hang around here for an hour or so to prepare your character for the challenges ahead.
Advertisement Once you get the the bridge with the drake at the end, go half-way down the bridge and then down the staircase to your right. Notice that the drake breathes fire, killing many undead and gaining you up to 555 souls. Once down the staircase, go through the entrance leading back to the bonefire in the Undead Burg (remember to lower the ladder).
Once you have rested at the bonfire, climb back up the ladder and stairs and quickly step onto the bridge and then back down the stairs. This will trigger the dragon to breathe fire, killing the new undead, and normally gaining you another 555 souls. Run back to the bonfire, and repeat.

How do people AFK farm in Elden Ring?
Home Gaming News Elden Ring Player Takes Out AFK Rune Farmer Using Malenia’s Attacks and Armor
An Elden Ring player takes on an AFK rune farmer while equipping Malenia’s armor and defeats them with her unique weapon skill. AFK rune farming has been plaguing Elden Ring ‘s PvP for months. It allows Elden Ring players to earn runes without doing anything, and the strategy is relatively simple to execute. The host has to find a hiding spot, lure other players into their game, and wait for the invader to either die or leave.
It doesn’t seem like FromSoftware will implement any changes to discourage this strategy, but Elden Ring players have learned how to defeat AFK rune farmers in various and interesting ways. Some invaders use glitches to reach the host’s hiding spot, while others take advantage of unique weapon skills to defeat them.
One player recently defeated an AFK rune farmer while fully dressed as one of the most difficult bosses in Elden Ring, A user named slimeycoomer uploaded a clip showing how they took out an AFK rune farmer in Elden Ring, Slimeycoomer seems to know exactly where the host is hiding, as this spot looks to be popular among rune farmers.
- The invader is also equipped with Malenia’s armor and weapon, proving that they have already conquered arguably the hardest boss in the game.
- Slimeycoomer drops to a platform below and heads towards the host’s hiding spot.
- They appear to utilize glitches to easily cross large gaps and find themselves next to the host.
The other player realizes that the invader has seen them and starts attacking, but Slimeycoomer carefully dodges these attacks and switches to the Hand of Malenia weapon. Its weapon skill allows users to perform Malenia’s iconic and deadly multi-hit combo, and Slimeycoomer defeats the host in mere seconds.
- They later clarify the method used to traverse the gaps.
- They have two weapons equipped, Elden Ring’s Hand of Malenia and Marika’s Hammer,
- Players must first dual-wield Hand of Malenia and use a heavy attack before quickly switching to the hammer and performing its special move.
- This will allow players to seemingly fly for a short duration, as seen in the video above.
One commenter mentioned that the host probably has not encountered Malenia and is unaware of the fight’s difficulty, and so the invader has possibly instilled fear by killing them with her unique attack. Another user also mentioned that many AFK rune farmers aren’t even AFK, as they move as soon as the invader reaches them.
Some speculated that the host was perhaps watching something on their phone or a second screen and got startled when the invader found them. Many users also feel discouraged from playing Elden Ring multiplayer due to this rune farming issue and hope that FromSoftware implements a fix as soon as possible.

What is the best weapon to farm runes in Elden Ring?
End Game rune farming: 1 million in 10 minutes – As you progress through Elden Ring, 50,000 runes in 15 minutes may no longer do the trick. The best method I’ve found will get you that amount in under a minute, but there are a few prerequisites. To optimize results, you’ll need the Sacred Relic Sword, a weapon that you can only get by beating the final boss.
You can do this method with any other weapon, it’s just that the Sacred Relic Sword’s special move has a huge area of effect that expedites the process. You’ll also want a Golden Scarab talisman, which boosts rune acquisition by 20%. The area in question is an optional area called Mohgwyn Palace, You can access this area in one of two ways: Go through White-Faced Varre’s questline, which you can do by finding him at the Rose Church after you beat Godrick The Grafted, or by finding a portal in the west side of the Mountaintops of the Giants,
If you’re confused about how to access the western half of the Mountaintops, it involves collecting two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion and presenting it at the Grand Lift of Rold. I chose the latter method, since I had already unlocked the western side of the Mountaintops.
You can find the portal and its location on the map below. This little number will take you to Mohgwyn Palace. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by Daniel Van Boom Here’s where you’ll find the teleporter on the map. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by Daniel Van Boom Where the magic happens. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by Daniel Van Boom If you arrive via transporter, you’ll find yourself in a little cave.
Exit and you’ll be greeted to a panoramic view of Mohgwyn Palace, as well as a Site of Grace. This Site of Grace is where you’ll be farming your runes. If you’re standing at the Site of Grace and look forward, you’ll see a bunch of sleeping ogre creatures.
- There’s about a dozen of them hanging out.
- If you look to the left, you’ll see another area separated from you by a big canyon.
- Wandering back and forth on the other side of the canyon is a very ugly bird.
- Luckily for us, the bird is an idiot.
- If you shoot it with an arrow, it will become incensed and run at you.
As noted, there is a giant canyon between you and the bird. The bird falls down and dies, giving you about 11,000 runes for little effort. Then, it’s time to kill the ogre dudes. This is where the Sacred Relic Sword comes in. It has a special move called Wave of Gold, which will hit almost every enemy in the space.
Just by targeting one ogre and hitting L2, I killed a bunch of them and got about 40,000 runes. You’ll see this bird walking back and forth in the area across the canyon. Hit it with an arrow and it will get mad, chase you, fall down the cliff and die, granting you over 10,000 runes. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by Daniel Van Boom Now it’s time to turn your attention to these blokes.
Killing them all gets you about 25,000 runes. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by Daniel Van Boom If you have the sword you gain access to after beating the last boss, its special move can kill all of them in one or two hits. That’s 25,000 runes in about 10 seconds.
- Bandai Namco/Screenshot by Daniel Van Boom And that’s it! Once everyone’s dead and you’ve harvested those runes, go take a quick rest at the Site of Grace so the enemies repopulate the area.
- Then do it all over again.
- Again, you don’t need to use the final boss weapon.
- It won’t take you too long to clear out all the enemies here, especially if you have another weapon with a big area of effect attack.
Remember to equip your Golden Scarab talisman, which will boost your ruin acquisition by 20%. All told, you’ll get about 60,000 runes per run. Once you get into a good flow, it’s easy to farm a million runes in 10 minutes here. Spend an hour on this and you’ll be the richest Tarnished the Lands Between ever saw.

At some point in Elden Ring, players are going to want to grind and level up to be prepared for the challenges ahead. Whether that’s Margit, Godrick, or Radahn, these bosses encourage getting really good at the game and getting ahead whenever possible.
There are plenty of areas to gather a lot of XP at once in Elden Ring, such as the Giant Sleeping Dragon, and there are plenty of enemies to farm for a couple of levels. The problem is, many of these come with inherent risks such as potentially losing runes in Elden Ring, This is not ideal and is a major setback for many players, but luckily, there is one farming location in Elden Ring that can take players to level 99 in a matter of hours without any serious risks.
Indeed, it’s an easy process should players choose to follow it, but it does require a little legwork to unlock.
