How do I get mist echoes in God of war?

Before taking on the Valkyrie Queen, you’ll want to unlock all the treasure chests in Niflheim. Here’s a few tips to speed things up and collect Mist Echoes fast. Late in the game, Kratos will finally be able to unlock the mysterious realm of Niflheim in God of War, This totally optional realm can only be accessed once you collect four Niflheim ciphers in special purple chests around Midgard. Collecting these chests will help you translate the runes on the Niflheim Tower, allowing you to access the realm itself through the travel room in Tyr’s Temple.

So, what exactly is Niflheim? It’s a weird place that’s layered in fog. The dungeon changes traps and monsters every time you enter, and you’ll only have a limited amount of time to run in and collect special resources called Mist Echoes. If you die in the random dungeon, you’ll lose all the Mist Echoes you’ve collected — and those Mist Echoes can help you unlock some of the most powerful armor in the game.

How to Get Mist Echoes Obtained from every type of chest all over Niflheim

Within Niflheim and deeper still into Ivaldi’s Workshop, players will be able to gain access to different types of chests. These chests, apart from providing players with other types of resources such as the Aesirbane or Anchor of Fog, will also often provide players with Mist Echoes in small increments. In each of the chambers that a player can come across in the workshop, there will be either a Red or Legendary Chest that they can open alongside regular breakable ones. In order for Kratos to interact with these, players will first need to clear each chamber of the enemies that spawn there before they can be allowed to interact with these chests. When moving from one chamber or challenge area to the next within the workshop, players can often find chests tucked away in corners that are easy to miss if players are trying to rush through the traps meant to impede a player’s progress through each path.

  1. These chests similarly hold Mist Echoes alongside other resources that they can use.
  2. Whenever a Legendary, Red Chest, or Nornir Chest becomes available in an area a player explores within the workshop, it is best to leave these alone.
  3. This is due to a “multiplier” within Ivaldi’s workshop that gives players more Mist Echoes and loot for every chest that they open.

The strategy to get thousands of Mist Echoes by the end of every run is to first open up regular chests that can be broken for its loot – once the entire workshop has been cleared of these chests and enemies, players can then open Red, Nornir, and then Legendary chests to gain higher and higher Mist Echoes for every chest they open.

How do I get more mist echoes?

How To Farm Mist Echoes Fast & Unlock Everything in Niflheim – Here, we’re going to provide some tips to help you crush Niflheim and earn 10,000-20,000 Mist Echoes in a single run. If you can consistently get that many echoes (each run takes about 10 minutes) then you’ll have everything unlocked in the workshop interior very, very quickly.

  • Beginner Niflheim Dungeon Tips:
    • When you start, talk to Sindri and bring him 500 Mist Echoes, You can get these from the first or second room. Go back to unlock the workshop key — now you can access the workshop. It takes about 70,000 Mist Echoes to unlock everything, including the Realm Tears.
    • To speed things up, unlock the 2500 and 5000 Mist Echo chests first, The 2500 chest contains a talisman that will slow down the fog meter. The 5000 chest will give you an item required to upgrade the Leviathan Axe to Level 6. Upgrade to kill enemies even faster.
    • Bring a Resurrection Stone every time. When you revive, you’ll also gain back some of the fog meter. If you die, you’ll lose everything!
    • Collect chests to raise your fog meter and earn Mist Echoes. This includes all chest types — small, standard, and Nornir chests.
    • For every chest you open, you’ll get more Mist Echoes. Open every chest you can find and your Mist Echoes will exponentially increase for each one. You get the most echoes from Nornir chests.
    • If you find a room with a Valkyrie in the center, don’t attack it! Just leave until you’re ready to fight.
    • You don’t have to stay and fight enemies. If your meter is low, sprint through the enemy room and out through a trap hallway. Enemies won’t follow you.
    • Trap hallways often have chests, so stop and grab them.
    • Are you lost? Keep going in a circle. Eventually, you’ll return to the starting area. The layout of the dungeon does not change, only the enemy encounters and traps.

Niflheim Farming Tips

  1. Take a screenshot of the Nornir chest in the first room. It will have three runes — around the dungeon, you’ll find rune poles. Throw your axe to align the poles to show the three symbols. This chest will often have a huge payoff that you can collect on your way back, but you’ll have to explore the entire dungeon to find the three rune poles.
    • The rune poles are always in the same spots. They don’t move when the dungeon changes.
  2. Stop and solve every Nornir chest, and grab every chest, including the chests in the alcoves between combat rooms.
  3. Use Heavy / Light Runic Attacks to slaughter enemies. Use your runic attacks with one weapon, then swap to the other weapon to rapidly kill enemies. Equip armor / talismans to lower runic cooldown.
  4. Don’t forget to sell! When you return to Sindri, sell materials that enemies drop — you’ll get Mist Echoes from these items when selling them.

What is the goal of the mist Echo maze?

How the Niflheim Maze Works – The Niflheim Maze is a very unique area in God of War, and thus takes some explaining to cover how it works. Here’s everything you need to know about Ivaldi’s Workshop maze!

  • Niflheim Maze Rules:
    • The goal of the maze is to defeat enemies to unlock chests, which contain Mist Echoes and Hacksilver. The maze can be attempted and completed an unlimited amount of times. A complete sweep of the maze will earn you around 6-9,000 Mist Echoes.
    • Your time in the maze is limited, represented by a pink mist meter at the top of the screen. Once it runs out, Kratos’ health will drain rapidly until you either leave the maze or die. The mist meter will deplete less quickly by using equipment found in the unlockable Central Chamber, and will also be restored a little bit by opening chests.
    • To keep your earnings, you must leave the maze by either returning to Sindri’s Workshop or climbing up to the Central Chamber. If you die, you’ll lose everything you collected during that attempt, including XP and Hacksilver.
    • You can check the amount of Mist Echoes you have by pausing the game, going to the Resources tab, and going to the very bottom of the list where the Common-ranked resources are.
  • Maze Layout:
    • The layout of the maze is the same every time: there are four main areas arranged like a baseball diamond. Between them are smaller subareas. The Center Chamber is accessed from the first area, Area D, while Area X and Y are harder zones found branching from the sub-areas A-B and B-C. Connecting all of these are trap hallways with either crushing walls or sawblades.
    • While the maze’s layout is the same, the enemy and chest placement will be procedurally randomized every time you enter it:
    • Each run of the maze will have a “theme” of enemies that appear in each of the main areas. These will be a minor and moderate enemy for all areas, and a major enemy that only appears in Areas X and Y. For example, a run may have Nightmares (Minor), Revenants (Moderate) and Trolls (Major).
  • Maze Chests:
    • Each main Area will have chests, including a Legendary Chest, Coffins and Hacksilver Chests. You cannot open them until you’ve defeated all the enemies in the Area first.
    • Opening any chest or coffin will restore a little bit of the mist meter.
    • The three chest types can also be found in the trap hallways connecting all the Areas together. These can be collected at any time.
      • It’s uncommon for a trap hallway to not have a Chest or Coffin in it somewhere. If you pass through an empty trap hallway, turn around to make sure there isn’t a chest hidden behind you on the other side.
    • One of the four subareas may have a Nornir Chest in it: you must find and hit all three bells with the Leviathan Axe to unlock it. The bells will always be reachable from the subarea the chest is in.
    • After you complete your first run in the maze, a Nornir Chest will appear in Area D (where you start the maze). To unlock it, you need to turn three switches up on the walls of Areas A, B and C.
      • The switches are located in a set order: the first Rune’s switch is always in Area A, the second Rune in Area B, and the third in Area C. For this reason, most runs of the maze go around it clockwise.
      • Taking a screenshot is a very good way to quickly remember what this Nornir Chest’s runes are. If you’re on PS5, you can then bring up the Create Menu and see the screenshot in the bottom-left corner of the screen!
    • In New Game +, no Chests or Coffins will have Skap Slag, even in the Center Chamber. The only one that will is the Coffin found on the Tyr’s Temple bridge.
