Why Is Gta 5 Rated M?

Why Is Gta 5 Rated M
Why Is Gta 5 Rated M Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most popular video games of all time. The open world action-adventure game was released in 2013 and since then it has sold over 90 million copies and grossed over $6 billion. The game is set in the fictional state of San Andreas which is based on California and Nevada.

The story follows three main characters: Michael De Santa Franklin Clinton and Trevor Philips. The game was rated M by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for its violence sexual content language and use of drugs and alcohol. Some people argue that the game is too violent and that it glorifies crime.

However others argue that the game is a work of art that allows players to explore an alternate reality. In 2016 the United Kingdom’s Parliament debated whether or not to ban the game. However the game was not banned and is still available for purchase.

  1. Many people think that Grand Theft Auto V is too violent.
  2. The game does have a lot of violence but it is not the only thing that the game is about.
  3. There is also a lot of humor drama and even romance in the game.
  4. The violence in the game is not realistic and it is not glorified.
  5. The player is not rewarded for being violent.

In fact often times the player is punished for being violent. For example if the player kills a civilian the police will start chasing the player. The game is rated M because it is meant for mature audiences. It is not meant for children. Some people argue that the game should be banned because it is too violent.

Grand Theft Auto V Platforms Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

Users Interact (PC, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5) In-Game Purchases (PC, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5)

Rating Summary In this open-world action game, players assume the roles of three criminals whose storylines intersect within the fictional city of Los Santos. Players can switch between each character to follow his storyline, completing missions which often include criminal activities (e.g., stealing cars, executing heists, assassinating targets).

  • Players mostly use pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles, and explosives to kill various enemies (e.g., rival gang members); players also have the ability to attack/kill non-adversary civilians, though this may negatively affect players’ progress as a penalty system triggers a broad police search.
  • Blood-splatter effects occur frequently, and the game contains rare depictions of dismemberment.

In one sequence, players are directed to use various instruments and means (e.g., pipe wrench, tooth removal, electrocution) to extract information from a character; the sequence is intense and prolonged, and involves some player interaction (i.e., responding to on-screen prompts).

The game includes depictions of sexual material/activity: implied fellatio and masturbation; various sex acts (sometimes from a close-up or first-person perspective) that the player procures from a prostitute—while no nudity is depicted in these sequences, various sexual moaning sounds can be heard.

Nudity is present, however, in other settings (e.g., a topless lap dance in a strip club; a man with exposed genitalia in a non-sexual context). Within the game, some cutscenes, TV programs, and radio ads contain instances of mature humor: myriad sex jokes; depictions of raw sewage and feces on a worker’s body; caricatures of ethnic/racial groups.

  • Some sequences within the larger game allow players’ character to use drugs (e.g., smoking from a bong, lighting a marijuana joint, hallucinating from peyote); cocaine use is also depicted.
  • Players’ character can, at various times, consume alcohol and drive while under the influence.
  • The words “f**k,” “c*nt,” and “n*gger” can be heard in the dialogue.

What is GTA V Rated M for?

Grand Theft Auto V (2022) Game Review The parents’ guide to what’s in this game. Positive Messages Not present Positive Role Models Not present Drinking, Drugs & Smoking Parents need to know that Grand Theft Auto V is an adult action game for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows platforms.

  1. It brims with gang violence, nudity, extremely coarse language, and drug and alcohol abuse.
  2. Playing as hardened criminals, players kill not only fellow gangsters but also police officers and innocent civilians using both weapons and vehicles while conducting premeditated crimes, including a particularly disturbing scene involving torture.

Women are frequently depicted as sexual objects, with a strip club mini-game allowing players to fondle dancers’ bodies, which are nude from the waist up. Players also have the opportunity to make characters use marijuana and drink alcohol, both of which impact their perception of the world.

All of the main characters are criminals who think of themselves first and others rarely at all. Online modes allow players to create their own avatar and embark on a criminal career that includes armed robberies, corruption, and murder. There’s some diversity within the cast, including people of varying skin colors, backgrounds, and sexual orientation, but virtually no characters here could be considered appropriate role models.

Few games are more clearly targeted to an adult audience. March 26, 2022 This game seems pretty bad for children, but if you teach them that the stuff in the game is bad there is a high probability that they won’t do it in the real world, and if you sometimes play the game with your kid you can feel how they will act and you can learn what your kid is playing.

  • This title has: 15 people found this helpful.
  • July 8, 2022 The thing that normally turns most parents away from letting their child get GTA is it’s bad reputation among other parents.
  • I would personally say that the story mode is not appropriate for under 15’s because of how much crime and inappropriate things are in the mode which under 15’s probably won’t be able to handle because they are not mature enough yet.

But the online mode is actually okay, and my son (12) likes it because of the aspect of buying cool houses and cars and having free roam in a city where you can choose your lifestyle depending on how much in-game currency you have. The game is absolutely one of the best around, and it’s so amazing how Rockstar put it together.

  1. It’s full of things to keep your kid occupied as well.14 people found this helpful.
  2. Originally launched in 2013, Rockstar Games’ decidedly adult-oriented GRAND THEFT AUTO V has been remastered for newer consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
  3. The story mode puts players in the shoes of a trio of criminals in Los Santos, a fictionalized version of Los Angeles.

One protagonist is middle-aged and begins the game as a recently retired criminal; another is unpredictable, cruel, and dependent on drugs; and the third is a young man just beginning his life of crime. Players have the ability to switch freely among these men as they work through a dramatic criminal saga set in an open world that sees them carrying out heists, stealing cars, taking revenge on rivals, and killing anyone who gets in their way, including police officers and innocent civilians.

The popular multiplayer mode GTA Online, meanwhile, allows players to create a unique avatar before setting out on a freeform criminal career with activities ranging from bank robberies and car theft to assassinations and shooting down airplanes, in addition to more traditional adversarial multiplayer modes such as deathmatch and capture the flag.

The 2022 remastered edition sports enhanced graphics – including support for HDR, ray tracing, 4K resolution, and 60 frames-per-second refresh speeds – as well as a Career Builder mode for GTA Online that lets first-time players begin with millions of dollars to help them buy properties and gear so that they can catch up to longtime GTA players who have the ability to transfer over their characters from older platforms.

This isn’t a game for kids. Beyond its glamorized depiction of crime, greed, and violence, Grand Theft Auto V is filled with mature satire both obvious and nuanced – some of which hasn’t aged very well – that younger audiences are bound to take at face value. That said, it’s also an expertly designed game that remains surprisingly playable and engaging.

It gives players a vibrant and authentic world bursting with activities and things to discover, tight controls that seamlessly transition between various actions, and a cleverly designed story that puts the player in the shoes of three separate characters, pushing each narrative forward at its own pace.

Newly added features in remastered versions of the game – ranging from vastly improved loading times and enhanced audio to subtle new haptic feedback and contextual trigger sensitivity when using the PlayStation 5 controller – have helped this game remain relevant and widely played much longer than most.

GTA Online is bound to be where most folks spend the bulk of their time, though. Newer editions allow players to skip the opening part of the story mode altogether – which was required in earlier editions in order to teach people how to play – and jump straight into Rockstar’s multiplayer universe, where almost nothing’s scripted and pretty much anything goes.

What’s more, the new Career Builder gives players $4 million up front and lets them set themselves up as a gun runner, the operator of a shady nightclub, a corrupt CEO, or a bike gang leader. GTA Online provides endless opportunity for players to indulge dark criminal fantasies while testing their mettle against other players.

Just keep in mind, though, that just about everything here – online and off – is geared for adult audiences. And even then it won’t be to all tastes. Grand Theft Auto V is well made and entertaining, but unequivocally inappropriate for kids.

Families can talk about the, Do you think violent games like Grand Theft Auto V have a different or more significant impact on behavior than violent movies, books, or music? Villains make for popular protagonists across all media but might be viewed differently in games, since players actually perform their dirty deeds rather than simply observe them. So can an anti-hero ever be a good role model? Does it do more harm than good to create a cast of diverse characters but then present the majority of them as common stereotypes, dimwitted, or malicious?

Is it OK for a 12 year old to play GTA V?

Understanding GTA Online and what your kids will see in it – Why Is Gta 5 Rated M Generally speaking, most parents recommend that kids be over 13 to play this game (Image via Common Sense) Common Sense Media is a public source that parents and kids use to rate how age-appropriate a show, movie, or game might be. In GTA Online’s case, the common consensus is that the game should only be played by kids 13 years and older. Why Is Gta 5 Rated M There are plenty of guns in this game (Image via Rockstar Games) This game is full of violence. The main protagonist is often tasked to eliminate other NPCs, often in large numbers. It is worth noting that the violence is rather simplistic for the most part, as explosives never realistically blow people apart, and there is no excessive gore from other weaponry. Why Is Gta 5 Rated M The Vanilla Unicorn (Image via Rockstar Games) The next thing to discuss is nudity. It’s a common misconception that this game has no naked people. However, that is not true. Most notably, there is an establishment known as the Vanilla Unicorn, where the protagonist can ask for a private dance. Why Is Gta 5 Rated M A Weed Farm is a business that the protagonist could run (Image via Rockstar Games) As far as drug use goes, there are two main things to consider:

  1. Your protagonist can manufacture and sell drugs.
  2. Your protagonist can use drugs.

Although it is possible to avoid associating the main character with drugs while playing the game, it wouldn’t be possible to complete the game 100% without it. Apart from that, the game allows players to commit various petty crimes like Grand Theft Auto.

August 2, 2022 So. Grand theft auto is a very controversial game and does have a bad reputation. But I’m here to tell you that it is not nearly as bad as you think. The reason the game is R18+ is because of the story mode All the big violence, gore, swearing, drugs/alcohol is in the story.

  1. And all the “nudity” is only accessible in the story mode in the missions.
  2. I think the story mode would be maybe 14+ in my opinion because that’s where all the real bad stuff is.
  3. But on the other hand, the online version is much tamer, less violent, no drugs, no nudity and no cussing.
  4. Don’t get me wrong, there is still violence but it is seriously no worse than shows rated M.

If your child has ever seen a M rated show, they will be fine with the online versions violence. There is no cussing in the online version. None at all. The online GTA V is much more tame than the story mode and is actually a really fun game! And many kids 11+ play this game, your child probably just wants to play with his friends and explore the world and just do whatever! In total I’d give the story mode- 14+ And the online mode- 12+ Trust me, it’s not as bad as it’s made out to be!!!! It just has a bad reputation!! This title has: 8 people found this helpful.

March 28, 2022 GTA V and GTA Online are both violent and mature games. The story of Grand Theft Auto V is gruesome and contains a lot of sexual intercourse, so it is not for kids to play, but Online is a different thing. It is a lot more child friendly (although not for -10 years of age) since it lets you do esentially a whole lot of stuff without being forced to do illegal missions first.

In Story Mode, you have to complete a bank robbery and a financial bluff car repossession before being free to do anything. On next-gen consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series X&S) Online is a standalone game (PS5 users get it for free until June 14th), however on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the game Grand Theft Auto V is required to play Online, and you have to complete Prologue (bank robbery) before playing Online, so that part should probably be played through by parents.

  1. But once you are in Online, you can do anything without needing to rob, steal or visit a strip club before being free.
  2. And yeah, all sexual content is optional in Online.
  3. However, you will notice some violence and potential drug use, so I’d say 12+ years of age is fine for Online.
  4. For GTA V Story Mode I’d say 14-15+ years of age.6 people found this helpful.

But before you go out and buy it, you should most certainly sit down with you child and talk about what they can’t go into to or do.

there are drugs and other things that may not be very appropriate but everything is on a big map and is all labelled so you know EXACTLY what you are entering or doing. hope this helps you and your child understand what is in this game and what to do before buying GTA.

  1. Thanks, Jackie This title has: 4 people found this helpful.

Is GTA OK for a 8 year old?

Parent reviews for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas August 30, 2022 was good until you dumbasses added flying This title has: Too much drinking/drugs/smoking 1 person found this helpful. February 4, 2019 The expert reviewer is completely right on this title, none of the GTA games are intended for kids.

In this game you take a part of gang in style of “crips” and “bloods” you perform a lot of criminal activity playing as “C.J” this involves killing people, spraying the walls with your tags etc – i think this particular title has a lot of potential to influence kids because of the “gang culture” like spraying your tags and being part of a street gang.

I did play this as a kid, but would not recommend it to people under 16 years of age. Language should not be your primary concern in a game where you play as a violent criminal – Written by a young adult man who actively plays games.1 person found this helpful.

  • May 26, 2022 September 15, 2020 I rate this 15+ but i’ve played this when i was 7.
  • There is nothing bad if kid will play this game, but as a parent you should help him to understand this game.
  • Some people will tell you this is too brutal, and there are sex shops, stript clubs etc.
  • But this is only optional thing to see.

If you will ignore this optional stuff, and look little dipper into this game, there is really good story. Even 11-13 years old kid can play this, but he will not understand everything alone. This title has: Too much drinking/drugs/smoking March 5, 2020 I play this game at age 13 and it still in my top twenty favorite games This title has: December 9, 2019 Yea u get it it’s a old game (it was made in 2004) and it’s not as “BAD” as newer games it still is not for anyone under 17 because yea there is strip Clubs and yes there is Nudity in the ps2 game and ps3 game they use drugs on a daily basis in the game a lot of the characters love the N word so do the cops there is cussing every minute of the game so yea 17+ not for kids This title has: Too much drinking/drugs/smoking August 23, 2019 PS2 version +18 but the newer version +15 This title has: Too much drinking/drugs/smoking September 22, 2018 It is pretty good and your kids should stay away from the sex and strip clubs.

  • If they are mature they should get it.
  • It is really fun! This title has: Too much drinking/drugs/smoking July 24, 2018 This game is very violent.
  • You can free roam around the cities and kill anybody you want.
  • You can even kill people in brutal ways such as, setting them on fire, chopping their heads off with a sword, slit their throats with a knife, blow off their heads with a shotgun or sniper rifle, you even cut through people with a chainsaw! And then the swearing.

This gta game probably has the most uses of the F word & N word than any other gta game! So many offensive things are said throughout the game. There is quite a lot of sexual themes in here. You can go to strip clubs, pay for a hooker, wear a sex suite, have sex with your girl friend, and even use a dildo as a weapon.

  1. So far we know that this is not suitable to for children, but I am just gonna add this in.
  2. There is strong drug use throughout this game.
  3. Some characters smoke pot, some use cocaine, some drink alcohol etc.
  4. I recommend only 17-18 and up.
  5. This title has: Too much drinking/drugs/smoking May 22, 2018 its only bad if children do bad things, i let my 12 year old play it when he was 5, he is well behaved.

it is sooo fun This title has: : Parent reviews for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

What games are like GTA but kid friendly?

Lego City Undercover – Looking for a Grand Theft Auto clone that’s targeted toward children, look no further than Lego City Undercover. This game offers a similar open world but with a more child-like and imaginative atmosphere. In it, you will help an undercover cop named Chase McCain stop an evil criminal named Rex Fury’s horrible city-wide antics.

  1. Despite being a child-friendly game, Lego City Undercover’s narrative is fascinating and compelling.
  2. It features incredible dialogue, wonderful jokes, and a plethora of police pop culture parodies.
  3. There are some adult jokes sprinkled throughout the game that are sure to get a chuckle out of hardcore gamers.

The story’s pacing can be slow at times, but it will leave an impression on you. The gameplay feels imaginative but slightly repetitive. The mechanic you’ll end up using in this game features you swapping between Chris’s different outfits, each holding a special ability.

There are many levels tailored around these specific outfits. While its gameplay loop will feature similar animations, sound effects, and quick time events, the developers did a fine job at crafting the levels around those abilities. The gameplay gets quite repetitive by the end of the story. The core mechanic has you switching between multiple different outfits to use each outfit’s special ability.

What that really means is that you’ll be faced with a series of obstacles that require different outfits with the same animations, sounds, and QTEs throughout. Therefore, if you’re looking for a family-friendly GTA clone that everyone can enjoy, check out Lego City Undercover.

How violent is GTA 5?

Grand Theft Auto V (Video Game 2013) – IMDb

Severe You can kill people as you wish but you will face the consequences for your behavior, which is what happens pretty much in real life, and the violence here isnt extremely graphic but is realistic, not helped by the fact that this game has incredibly realistic and highly detailed graphics that make the violent content look more “in-your-face”, although the graphics are really nice to look at. Much more violent than its predecessors. Pretty much the entire game is filled with violence although most of it isn’t especially graphic or gory, but is pretty bloody regardless in some cases. Shootouts are very frequent and when they occur they are quite intense and contain some blood although never any gore. Unlike Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V does not feature dismemberment. However the violence here is much more frequent During online mode no graphic violence is present as most of it occurs during the cutscenes of the campaign. While in online mode you are able to interact with other players and complete missions and tasks. Shooting someone with a shotgun or a minigun is much more bloody than other weapons used in online and story mode. The violence is on a light R level most of the time. Most of it just includes mild to moderate blood splatter. The violence can be compared to that of the 1991 film “Boyz in da Hood”, though that doesn’t make it any less strong. While nowhere as violent as “Red dead redemption 2”, which is way more violent and gorier, the violence is more frequent, as said before. There is a ton of violence and fighting in this game. Much of the violence is played for comedy, though, and it’s very over-the-top. Players can shoot people to death with moderate blood splatter, somewhat similar to “Call of Duty”, and can be intense depending on which game. There is a torture scene. This is very graphic and by far the most violent part of the game. You can break your victim’s knees with a wrench, pull one of his teeth out, waterboard him, and hook cables up to his nipples to electrocute him. This is required to do and is very sadistic and disturbing, not to mention played completely seriously. Most of the game is nowhere near this violent though. In the role of three different characters, players can use a wide array of weapons ranging from pistols and shotguns to machine guns and grenades to kill people, with a cloud of blood usually splattering on the area. Cars can be used as weapons, too, both purposefully and accidentally, as players race through crowded streets slamming into anyone who gets in the way. A lot of blood will stain the environment if this happens. Most missions feature some sort of violence, lethal or non-lethal. There is also violence in cutscenes (shooting, fist fights). In one such cutscene, Trevor Phillips throws a man, Johnny Klebitz, to the ground and kicks him multiple times until he dies and his face becomes bloody. This is disturbingly bloody and graphic but not that much. One scene shows a man getting shot in the head in brief but graphic detail, with lots of blood and brain matter splattering all over the place. This lasts less than a second. In another scene, a woman gets sucked into a plane’s jet engine’s turbine, causing her to be completely torn to shreds while we see massive amounts of blood being tossed out by the turbine. These two scenes are some of the most graphic parts in the game. Players can run people over with vehicles on the streets of Los Santos. This is accompanied with some blood splattering and people can be heard grunting, groaning and yelling in pain and sometimes this will result in large trails of blood. The police will obviously be alarmed if they choose to do that. Players may arbitrarily kill any other person in the game. There are no children present, but any adult may be killed at will. GTA 5 is the first game where animals are present, including dogs, cats, chickens, birds, cows, etc and they can all be killed in the same ways as humans. Most of the violence can be avoided and usually isn’t very graphic besides maybe a few parts, but this is nonetheless the most violent GTA game of all time.

In the beginning, a heist in a bank appears and some blood is shown. Take note that all extreme violence in the game occurs during cutscenes. A graphic headshot, a man burned alive, a decomposing corpse, all seen in cutscenes that can be skipped. In actual gameplay, violence is frequent but not as graphic as other games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 (lacking that game’s dismemberment mechanic). Even using explosive weapons will just result in ragdolling characters, and is probably the least severe part of the game. At the end, there’s a sequence that shows Trevor being burned alive. We see him screaming in extreme agony as the flames engulf him. Despite the fact that Trevor is insane, this sequence is extremely disturbing and emotionally intense, but this is completely optional and is one of the 3 endings the players can choose, and thankfully, it isn’t canon.

No. Violence and adult themes are inherent to the Grand Theft Auto series. It’s the main selling point of the series. There is no kid-friendly in-game switch in GTA 5 or any of the GTA games that has the main character, for example, run a lemonade stand as opposed to pulling off a bank heist guns blazing.

Is GTA V rated ‘M’?

Should Kids Play GTA V? Only If Their Parents Are Rated ‘M’ For Mature GTA V is upon us and, as expected, so is the media firestorm of how it or is the hallmark of, I followed GTA V news pretty closely in the last few weeks and, after the release last Tuesday, there were a number of from Gamestop clerks who were selling the title to clueless parents.

  1. One clerk even wrote encouraging parents to “do the right thing.” But what if buying your 11-year-old GTA V IS the right thing to do? Let me explain.
  2. I’ve played somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50 hours of GTA V in the last week.
  3. I’ve seen all the content that gives it a capital ‘M’ mature rating.

People like to talk about the violence or the sexual content or the drug use in the game as reasons why it’s not acceptable for children. But a lot of the blanket judgments thrown around in the last week really irk me. Because, and I appear to be alone on this, I don’t think buying GTA V for your kid makes you a bad parent.

And I certainly don’t think it’s cause for you to be judged by the very same people who are going to be reveling in the sex, drugs and violence found in the game. The fact of the matter is that the game is rated ‘M’ so that a child can’t walk into Gamestop and buy it without parental consent. If a parent knows what’s in GTA V and chooses it for their child, then that is his/her right.

Even if they don’t know and buy it anyway, is it really going to be a life-altering event? Because I remember being 11 years old and playing games like Mortal Kombat and Duke Nukem and, the last time I checked, I haven’t murdered anyone. Aside from some personal herbal remedies, I’m a law abiding citizen.

Just because a child is enthralled with some media that is violent or sexualized in some way doesn’t mean they will automatically mimic that behavior. Hearing people talk about kids and GTA V reminds me of from Louis C.K. In it he discusses gay marriage and people who think it’s immoral and bad for children and says “two guys who are in love can’t get married because you don’t want to talk to your ugly child for five minutes?” This is the essence of why I think GTA V is OK for kids.

Parents need to be involved. Yes, it’s full of violence. But so are plenty of other games/movies/TV. And, unless you’re the worst parent in the world, you probably have a good idea of whether or not your kid has the kind of anger/aggression issues that might make the game a problem.

Oh, and the argument it desensitizes kids and makes them more violent? Bullsh-t, as this points out. Juvenile violent crime is at a 30-year low. The NES launched 30 years ago. Coincidence? Strippers and sex? Classic American prudishness. We’ll put all kinds of violence in movies and TV shows for kids but god forbid they see a breast.

And, unlike the 345,775,289,544,211 pictures and videos of breasts online the breasts in GTA V do not in any way belong to an actual human being who may have been coerced or exploited to reveal them. If GTA V is the first place your 11-year-old sees a breast then you have the most computer illiterate 11 year-old on the planet.

  1. Every child with a smartphone has access to an insane amount of sexual content, and if their tech savvy parents block it then they likely have a friend who does.
  2. Drug use? Please.
  3. The drug use in GTA is either mild or over-the-top; users are either slightly hazy or experiencing full-scale hallucinations too cartoony to be believed.

The only correlation between GTA V and drug use are the gamers who like to toke up before playing. It doesn’t glorify it or talk about it very much at all. Most of the game is about stealing and robbing people, an action that most children should know is wrong by the time they reach kindergarten.

Or murdering. Again, something most kids have a handle on by the time they enter school. I’m surprised that there isn’t any kind of reaction among parents who enjoy a game like GTA V because it gives them a bridge to talk about sensitive issues with their kids. Sit down and play the game together and talk about drugs and sex and violence and bad language.

Let them know that Los Santos is usually the only appropriate place for those things. Should kids play GTA V? Of course, but only if their parents play it first. : Should Kids Play GTA V? Only If Their Parents Are Rated ‘M’ For Mature

What is the ESRB rating for GTA V?

The GTA franchise is no stranger to controversy, ever since the early days of GTA III. The game’s release coincided with the unfortunate terror attacks in New York in 2001, and some elements were then considered as being in poor taste. Thus, Rockstar had to make several changes to the game before release.

  1. The GTA franchise would court a lot of controversies over the years with regards to its content and became the symbol of decadence for the media and the game’s numerous critics.
  2. The games were called into question several times and even blamed for several violent incidents in the United States.
  3. However, Rockstar Games has stuck to their guns with the GTA games and believe them to be an artistic expression to reflect the flawed nature of modern media and pop culture.

Is Grand Theft Auto really that bad?

Parent reviews for Grand Theft Auto V (2022) | Common Sense Media March 26, 2022 This game seems pretty bad for children, but if you teach them that the stuff in the game is bad there is a high probability that they won’t do it in the real world, and if you sometimes play the game with your kid you can feel how they will act and you can learn what your kid is playing.

  2. July 8, 2022 The thing that normally turns most parents away from letting their child get GTA is it’s bad reputation among other parents.
  3. I would personally say that the story mode is not appropriate for under 15’s because of how much crime and inappropriate things are in the mode which under 15’s probably won’t be able to handle because they are not mature enough yet.

But the online mode is actually okay, and my son (12) likes it because of the aspect of buying cool houses and cars and having free roam in a city where you can choose your lifestyle depending on how much in-game currency you have. The game is absolutely one of the best around, and it’s so amazing how Rockstar put it together.

  • It’s full of things to keep your kid occupied as well.14 people found this helpful.
  • April 27, 2022 It is a really good game.
  • If you are only going to play gta online, the nudity is completely optional.
  • Eep in mind that it still has quite a bit of violence, but if they play games like CoD, Watch Dogs, or even watch superhero movies they should be fine.

It has a lot of language, but they most likely hear worse just listening to middle school conversations. The blood is not very realistic, and you may not be comfortable letting your kid play this game, but they will be fine. Unless they live under a rock, they will find out about this stuff anyway.

  1. Trust me, You don’t want to keep your kid innocent, they will get harmed and bullied in school.
  2. The game also has purchasable money, which your kid may want, but if they get one, make sure they buy the kostaka, and the sparrow upgrade, and that way they can make easier money in the game.

  • And all the “nudity” is only accessible in the story mode in the missions.
  • I think the story mode would be maybe 14+ in my opinion because that’s where all the real bad stuff is.
  • But on the other hand, the online version is much tamer, less violent, no drugs, no nudity and no cussing.
  • Don’t get me wrong, there is still violence but it is seriously no worse than shows rated M.

But once you are in Online, you can do anything without needing to rob, steal or visit a strip club before being free. And yeah, all sexual content is optional in Online. However, you will notice some violence and potential drug use, so I’d say 12+ years of age is fine for Online.

  • Thanks, Jackie This title has: 4 people found this helpful.

Is GTA V mature?

The Offical GTA V Age Rating – The American Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) as Mature 17+ (M); this is equivalent to an R-rated movie. Why Is Gta 5 Rated M Grand Theft Auto V Rating | Source: The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is the American self-regulatory organization established in 1994 responsible for assigning age and content ratings to consumer-grade video games. According to ESRB (), “In this open-world action game, players assume the role of three criminals whose storylines intersect within the fictional city of Los Santos.

  • Players can switch between each character to follow his storyline, completing missions that often include criminal activities (e.g., stealing cars, executing heists, assassinating targets).
  • The game includes depictions of sexual material/activity: implied fellatio and masturbation; various sex acts that the player’s character procures from a prostitute—while no nudity is depicted in these sequences, different sexual moaning sounds can be heard.” Even though ESRB provides a broader and general outlook, the decision is more and less dependent on each kid’s maturity level; some kids are undoubtedly more mature emotionally and can be trusted with specific content.

To make that informed decision, one must be acquainted with what goes on in GTA V.

If they are responsible, know that it is just a game, and that anything they see in the game should not be done in real life, then if you feel comfortable letting them play, you know that you can trust them.
