quick recap for anyone who didn't know: Neko Atsume can be found on the app store/play store and is a... well, it's not a game. it's not a simulator either. it's been called tamagatchi with cats but even that is a stretch. you buy toys and food for the cats and place them in your yard, then close the app. during the time when you are away from the app, cats will come visit your yard. when you come back, you can take pictures of the cats who are playing with your toys, and any cats who have already left will leave you fish (in-game currency) so you can buy more toys. that's it. that's the entire "game." ok, I'm over-simplifying - buying certain toys and certain food items can potentially lure rare cats into your yard, so that's something to work toward. but that's really the extent of the "gameplay." you can't tap on the cats and make them do cute things, you can't keep a certain cat you really like, and they really don't do much when they're in your yard beside laying around and occasionally batting at a ball or toy. that said... the cats are really cute. and they do funny things, like: (how shadow got his legs into that donut, I will never understand...) currently saving up for the yard expansion. I refuse to IAP it because this "game" looks short enough as is, and I'd rather casually earn gold sardines over time so I have something to look forward to.
